    Description

We are an eco resort located in Khao Sok, Surat Thani province in Thailand with a large, ongoing project which provides free environmental education camps to teach local children about the importance of taking care of our amazing natural surroundings here. Our team of educators also run activities for our resort guests too, in order to make their stay with us more fun and educational.

We are located in a small village surrounded by national parks. Khao Sok is an ideal stop for jungle lovers! There are a few shops and restaurants nearby and we can give advice on visiting other tourist destinations in the region.

You are most likely to interact with our camp staff and farmers the most. We don't all speak English but that is sometimes part of the fun of travelling!

As well as this, being in Khao Sok for a few weeks is in itself an experience. You can enjoy listening to the sound of gibbons, swim in the river and see many birds and monkeys from our resort. We can also help you to organise a range of other activities such as a visit to the amazing Cheow Lan Lake.

We are mostly looking for volunteers that come with previous experience of working with children, who would be confident to lead activities in English by themselves after shadowing another facilitator.

    Typical duties include:
    - Helping with our educator team to plan and run weekend activities for local children
    - Creating displays, signs or articles about the local flora and fauna
    - Running nature-themed activities for families with young children (training provided)
    - Other tasks will depend on the experience and interests of each volunteer but may include farm tasks, carpentry, gardening or teaching English

We take the safety of our campers very seriously, so please note that volunteers wanting to work with children are required to provide us with a criminal background check.

    Please note!

When you are here we will include you as one of our team and ask you to support with the tasks that we feel is most suitable based on your skills and interests. This means that volunteer tasks are usually split between working with the resort guests and working at our kids' camp. Our financial model requires us to lead some paid activities, which helps us to run our free education for the community. We ask our volunteers to be flexible and understand that sometimes you will be asked to help with the "business" side of our operations as well as the community work.

Depending on the time of year, our team is usually quite busy planning and working with local schools to run Thai language camps. Whilst there will be plenty of opportunity for teamwork and meeting new people, we are looking for volunteers that can work independently too.

We typically host one or two volunteers at a time. We cannot promise that there will be socialising every evening, and we cannot promise that there will be good weather all the time (we are located in the rainforest!) but we can provide an interesting and educational experience for anyone interested in outdoor education and community work.
