    Description

Vogt Meadows is a 40 acre hobby farm with gardens located next to scenic Lewes Lake, 50km south of Whitehorse in the stunning southern lakes area of the Yukon. We are a retired couple with a young dog called Rosie. We're originally from Switzerland and arrived in the Yukon 30 years ago. We love our rural lifestyle, the outdoors and growing our own food. We love to cook and eat together. Our meals vary depending on the season and on what we have in our freezer and what’s available in our garden. Wild meat from moose, home grown vegetables, cheese and dairy products, and homemade bread are integral parts of our diet. We hunt and preserve our meat each fall and we have a big garden where we grow our vegetables.

We enjoy meeting people from around the world and welcome anyone to be part of our family during their stay. We want our Workawayers to feel at home, have a great experience and have a good balance between work and time off. It is very important to us that time spent at our place is a win-win for all.

We treasure our rural Yukon life style, living sustainably in the pristine North. We live very close to nature and coexist with all kinds of wild critters like bears, moose, caribou, wolves, eagles etc. We often encounter them out and about and really enjoy living in this wild country. If you're keen to learn about this lifestyle, this is the right place for you.

We had an amazing first summer hosting Workawayers. It's been a rewarding experience and we are definitely hosting again in 2025. However we’re taking a break from October 2024 until April 2025 because there is little work on our farm during the cold winter months. Below is an outline of what will be going on at our place next year and the type help we're looking for.

From late April on we're looking for help around our property and our garden. It's the time of the year when nature wakes up from winter and days are getting longer and warmer. From mid May to mid June we're looking for help with completing the wood siding on our house and helping out around the farm and garden. Later on in the summer we'll be haying our fields, keep tending to our gardens and farm, and we're planning to work on our small cabin on the shore of beautiful Bennett Lake.

We 're looking for helpers who enjoy working outside, are handy and don’t mind physical work.

We're looking forward to hearing from you!

There's no public transportation to our location, if you like to be independent you need your own transportation. We offer pickup and drop-off in Whitehorse and we typically do a weekly town run to get supplies. Whitehorse has daily direct flights to and fromVancouver, Edmonton and Calgary.
