Volunteering here was an amazing experience, and I miss it every day! All the staff and volunteers were very helpful and fun. The work is relaxed, the food is delicious, and the parties are unforgettable. Leaving this place was so hard! Love to everyone, and hopefully see you soon 💜

We've spent almost three weeks of January on this amazing Workaway. Sandra, Iuri and their kids were very sweet and welcoming towards us 😊 Working tasks were very straightforward and enjoyable — it's also been insightful and we've learned a lot about horticulture 🌱 We had very flexible working hours, so it was easy to plan our leisure around it. Additionally, the area around the plot is wonderful and offers a lot of hiking opportunities 🏞️ We were living in a caravan close to the house, which provided us with a good level of privacy. It's old and charming, and Sandra and Iuri were very helpful if there were any small issues with electricity, etc. We would gladly relive the experience we had in this place ☀️ Thank you!

i recently had the wonderful opportunity to volunteer at the pepper farm and it was an incredible experience! I learned so much about black pepper farming and had a great time doing it. Special thanks to Chris and Ally for being so kind and accommodating. Grateful for the experience and would definitely recommend volunteering to anyone interested in learning about eco-friendly farming practices!

Our time was so so special!! Marlyn was an amazing host and we left feeling more like family. We had such a special time getting to know Marlyn and sharing in each others lives, cultures and experiences. She has lived such an interesting life and hearing her stories around the dinner table over a glass of wine after the evening milking of the cows are memories we will hold for a lifetime. Prepare to fall in love with some dogs and donkeys. We spent around 3 weeks at the farm and something we really enjoyed was the variety of tasks we could help out with. If we enjoyed working with the animals there were daily tasks that included helping with the milking and feeding the cows or sheep. If you felt more at home in the kitchen you could help with the cooking and learn how to make different cheeses from the milk. There are also projects like building and maintaining vertical gardens as well as cabin building. There is really cool rock climbing and glamping in the area which makes for a fun weekend adventure. Marlyn also took us to a couple of local pueblos and showed us around, which was fun highlight. It can be quite chilly at night, so bring extra layers. Maryln was gracious and gave us lots of thick blankets to stay warm and cozy in the cold nights and early mornings. We got along well with basic outdoor work clothes (long pants, long sleeve shirts and sturdy boots), and Marlyn also has some extra work gear if needed.

Spending these three weeks together is something I will never be able to fully describe in words. It has been far more meaningful than I could have ever imagined. Your presence in my life felt like an angel sent at the exact right time. You have supported me both physically and emotionally in ways that I will always be grateful for. Your help, your kindness, and your genuine heart made such a deep impact on me. I truly admire your extraordinary intelligence, your incredible energy, and your wisdom. You have a rare ability to uplift every place you enter and add meaning to the lives of everyone around you. I am absolutely certain that wherever you go, you will continue to make everything more beautiful and touch countless lives. Wishing you a bright and open path ahead. ✨

I spent a wonderful 3 weeks volunteering here. Ms Thu and her family and team made me feel welcome and at home from the very start. They have big hearts and are inspiringly committed to their work and the children. The hours and work are fair, and there is plenty of opportunity to explore Hanoi and venture further afield during downtime and the weekends. It’s definitely one of the most rewarding Workaways I’ve done, and I would recommend it to anyone with an interest in teaching or working with children, as I really feel that I learnt a lot from the experience. I also think it’s a project where the longer you stay the more of a positive impact you can make as you get to know the students, their ability, and their learning and communication styles. I hope we meet again ♥️

I am deeply grateful for the incredible hospitality shown by Zaki, Yati, and their family. First of all, a huge thank you to Zaki for picking me up and dropping me off at the Raub station—twice! I truly appreciate the extra effort. Lurah Bilut is a hidden gem in Malaysia. It’s a beautiful, relaxing, and comfortable village where the locals are exceptionally friendly. Kids say "Hello" and adults greet you with a warm smile and a nod. I quickly learned to do the same, and to my surprise, a local even treated me to coffee on my very first day! On top of that, Zaki and Yati are amazing cooks; I thoroughly enjoyed every meal they prepared. Whether at home or on the farm, my conversations with Zaki and Yati about their philosophy of life were truly inspiring. It was the highlight of my stay beyond the great food. I was also lucky to meet a wonderful group of volunteers—thank you Simone, Vivian, Mika, Rinto, and Joe for the great company. Lastly, although there was a slight misunderstanding due to translation, I’m so glad Zaki and I were able to talk it through and clear the air. Thank you, Zaki and Yati, for your immense generosity toward all the volunteers. I would love to return to Lurah Bilut one day!

Christin and Luca's project was my very first experience as a Workawayer. And it was... I couldn't imagine a better introduction to this world, and now I'm even more eager for more. Eager to meet more such inspiring and pioneering people, eager to experience more such projects that address the problems of our time, eager to meet more of these super-fluffy and curious feathered and furry friends with stories to tell. But before I look any further for the right words to express how I feel, I'll just introduce you, the reader, to some of their animals. Each one has its own time before it lets you get close - but it also shows you in its own unique way. Vento ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I'm the first one who's happy when you arrive. Stroke my back! Lewy ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The mad professor! Stroke me! Stroke me! More! More! Come on! Me! More! I'm a good boy! Joey ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I might need some time. But if a cat fits on your lap, I'll fit too! Yuki ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Will you stroke my cheeks and chin? Paws are okay too. Please not my tail :( Gizmo ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Let's see who has more neck muscles. Stroke me with the back of your head! (You better do) Alma ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I'm here when you need me. When I need you, you have to be here. Now shut up and stroke my head. Just. my. head! Besides, I'm a star! Hugo ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I know the fence is in the way, but your fingers can fit through to stroke me! Tilda ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I can show you the best hiding places here, if you're small enough. You ain't? Hamid is a kind, open hearted and smart man who has experienced a lot and can tell many interesting stories. He is an excellent cook and we were so blessed that he treated us with all kinds of crazy delicious dishes! Childhood memories were brought back when he did some dish that my uncle used to cook for us kids when we were little. When I was struggeling with new tech he was a brilliant help - he knows his stuff! We all instantly connected with him and he felt like a natural famlily member quickly. Thanks to him the kids are now freshly infected with the tabletennis virus. We hope he'll come back one day! :-D

Writing a feedback for this wonderful family is actually really hard. When somebody shares their lives so fully with you, that you're really not just a guest, but part of family from the first moment....that's really something to experience.... Martin and Justine are amazing hosts, they always made sure that we feel good and have everything. Our tasks were mainly regular cleaning and cooking dinner, but we helped wherever we could. All the time spent together is really precious to us. Playing with Amalia, Mateo's heart-melting smiles, all the knowledge and time Martin shared with us, the deep talks with Justine (and when she winks at you...you'll feel special), Opa's birthday, the day at the lake....it's getting sentimenthal to think about these memories. We are truly grateful for everything. Martin, Justine thank you and we hope to see you again some time!💖💖

I have just completed a two -week stay with Patricia and Javier, and it was excellent. They are kind, friendly and generous hosts who make you feel at home right away. Javier is a talented cook, and prepared delicious vegetarian meals every day. (I can't remember when I have eaten so well.) Their son is a clever and likeable little guy who loves to play games. I think anybody would enjoy spending time with this family, and I wholeheartedly recommend them as hosts.

We stayed for 10 days in the community Ushukulin and we really enjoyed our time! We spend most of the time cutting down the corn field with machetes in the garden and this was hard but fun work. Misael is a lovely host with a lot of knowledge and he was willing to share this with us. Thank you!

As an experience to live with the permanent community and the other volunteers, this place is top-notch. Everyone here really lives out their values and ideals in every aspect of their daily life. There are weekly workshops, many tasks that you can get involved with (including bio-construction, the organic garden, chickens, building up the compost), a temazcal, and amazing views. Xavier and everyone else in the community make education in permaculture and agroecology and sustainable living a top priority. The only things I would have wished for were to work in the garden beds a little more often (but I think that was a partly a product of being there in the off-season) and spending a bit more time chatting with Xavier, who was on holidays for part of the time I was there. And it's recommended to be there for at least 3 or 4 weeks at a time to get the full experience, I would say. Good luck with your season.

What an amazing first workaway experience - thank you so much Resi and Vince! We were made so welcome from the minute we arrived which made us feel at home straight away. The work didn't feel like work to us because we enjoyed looking after the animals, learning how to grow vegetables, doing jobs around the farm. Even more mundane tasks like cleaning were enjoyable because of the wonderful environment we were in. Resi communicated all of the tasks clearly and was always happy to answer questions. They went above and beyond to make sure we had the best time and got to see so much of the beautiful local area. Thank you Vince for our well maintained bikes! We did a lot of cycling and the bikes never let us down! :) After 5 weeks , we really didn't want to leave. We had settled into life here and it felt like a second home thanks to Resi and Vince's kindness and generosity. I think we have made friends for life and I struggle to imagine having a better workaway experience in the future.

My first impression was good. Loredana replies to messages quickly. I was accepted very fast. I stayed with them for two weeks (31.01-13.02.2026). From the beginning, communication felt comfortable and easy. I flew to Pisa and then travelled to Perugia. They explained to me how to get from Perugia to Fratticiola Selvatica. The transport connection is not convenient. It might be better to fly to Florence or Perugia airport instead. Tim and Lori are very welcoming. Grazie mille ☺ Overall, the house has a very homely atmosphere. It was easy to communicate. We mostly spoke English, with a bit of Italian sometimes. The mornings usually started with loading firewood into the boiler room and cleaning ashes from the stove. Then I fed the chickens and collected eggs. The work was varied: - stacking firewood - transporting eco firewood to the boiler room with a wheelbarrow - collecting grass for the chickens - peeling lemons for limoncello - peeling oranges - helping with wall renovation (sanding and removing old layers) - sorting waste - going with Tim to the recycling center - dismantling wooden pallets and removing nails - cleaning the area near the fountain and digging a small drainage canal - small house maintenance tasks I dont remember exactly how many hours I worked. Usually it was from morning until lunch, and sometimes a little after lunch. Saturday and Sunday were mostly free days. The work was not difficult. Most of the time, I worked independently, but sometimes together. There was enough free time. After work, I focused on my university studies. Sometimes I went for walks around the area with the dogs. They have two dogs: Ayla and Mila. Ayla is very active and likes walking and running. I stayed in a private room on the second floor. The view from the window is very beautiful. Sometimes it was a bit cold at night, probably because of the wind. The shower and kitchen were comfortable. I liked Italian cuisine, but now I like it more. Italian food is buonissimo. I cooked my own breakfast, and Lori provided the food. Lunch and dinner were shared. Mostly Lori cooked. She cooks incredibly well. I would say Bonnisimo. Tim cooked once, and it was also delicious. On my last day, I cooked dinner. I tried many different types of pasta. Lori, grazie mille. I also tried pizza. It was amazing. And I made pizza myself under Lori's guidance. I learned to value time more. I really enjoyed spending time away from a big city. I learned how to make real Italian pizza. I improved my Italian a little. I really liked Italian culture. The tradition of drinking espresso is special. Espresso is not just a drink. It is a lifestyle, the soul of Italians. This place is perfect for people who want to take a break from city life and enjoy nature and quiet. It may not be suitable for those who like parties and clubs. Would I recommend it to others? Yes, definitely. If I had to describe this experience in one phrase: Dolce far niente.

I've volunteered at this retreat center for 6 weeks and it's been an excellent experience. Ever since day one, I have been welcomed by everyone in a really warm and welcoming way. The people there make this place truly feel more than just a community; it feels like a family, and I could instantly tell from day one that they have welcomed me into their family. Everyone there is very kind, understanding, and compassionate. The communication went smoothly with everyone, and they were very understanding of me. The place is great, relaxing, and fully equipped and self-sustainable in terms of living your life here. You can easily spend your entire days here. They have a library full of books, a lot of rooms to chill, a sauna, yoga rooms, a creative workshop room, a fully equipped kitchen and a nice garden. The volunteers have a separate section of the building dedicated to themselves, with private rooms and shared living space, so you can always have your "me"/"solo" time there and relax or work on private projects/work. The beach is 1km away (15 minutes of walking). There is a bigger beach and a forest about 4km away (15 minutes of cycling). You can get a bike from the retreat center. The work itself was very doable in terms of time and complexity. They taught me what I needed to know and supported me along the way, and whenever I made a mistake, they were calm and kind to correct and explain to me how I could improve. I constantly felt encouraged and supported by the people around me. I also appreciate the trust they have bestowed upon me. The food they serve here is vegan. I've never tried a vegetarian/vegan diet in my life before coming here, but I was very open-minded and curious how this will go. The culinary experience has been great. I was positively surprised how delicious and filling vegan food can actually be. Surprisingly, I didn't miss eating meat for the time I was here. The coffee and tea were also delicious. One unique advantage that this Workaway place has over other places is that it tends to bring very interesting people. Some guests are more open to communicating, and I've had the opportunity to interact with multiple guests, have great conversations with them, and I even learned a lot from them. There is so much knowledge and wisdom shared between the staff and the guests that this place truly feels like an encyclopedia. Overall, it was a great and memorable experience. I've got to meet so many new people and learn so much from them, and I even made new friends. I'm very grateful for everyone at the retreat center for the way they treated me during my stay. I'm looking forward to come back here again in the future.😁

Where to begin? Soren help us a lot. He is an amazing work away, really committed and respectful of all the house rules. He is always searching for something new to do and give ideas for the project. He took care of everything when we went for our mission trip far away we couldn't be more relaxed since Soren was doing house sitting. Even the last night he cooked for us and we wanted to give him a special dinner but was different and he cooks really good. We can just wait to see him again in the future. His three friends also came for one week and it was really special to have all of them sharing with us. The cleaned together a wall, also they splitted the house duties and always were looking for something to do. We can't described how happy are we to have meet them and now we Can say that more than workawayers they are friends. We wish you guys only the best in your life from the bottom of our hearts.

I don’t even know where to start with this one, Thank you. Reading your words truly touched us. It was such a joy having you here and watching you become part of the rhythm of this little jungle world. You understood the balance of work, beach, chaos, laughter, and community perfectly. Thank you for seeing us the way you did, for the humor, the honesty, and the heart behind it all. And yes… Canelo is absolutely in charge. We’ve accepted it. You didn’t just volunteer here, you became part of the story. Our jungle door is always open for you

Our experience here was truly incredible. Setiba is the ideal place if you're looking for tranquility, beautiful beaches, and breathtaking sunsets. It's definitely not suitable for those seeking city life or nightlife. The closest option is a 30-minute Uber ride to Guarapari, but you obviously can't do that every day! At least for us, it wasn't a priority. The work was exactly as described: breakfasts, cleaning, and various maintenance for 5 hours a day What made our experience positive were definitely the people around us and the other workawayers. Thank you for everything ☀️
