    Description

Hello! Ciao! We are Resi and Vince. We moved to our 12 acres paradise in 2016 and we have welcomed plenty of helpers to help us make our dream a reality!

    ++++

Our journey started in 2013, when we packed up our home in North Wales and travelled to Australia, New Zealand and Italy, mostly thanks to Workaway hosts. We have learnt a huge wealth of information, visited amazing places and made great forever friends. We have now decided to give something back to the Workaway community.

Resi, 50, is Italian but lived for over 20years in the UK before moving to Australia, thanks to Vince, 43, who is Australian and together we have settled in North East Victoria, in a lovely town called Beechworth.

Our home is a 12 acres lifestyle block and started as an empty canvas. Over the years, we have planted over 400 trees, a fruit orchard, improved fencing, created a veggie patch and other improvements.

We are currently seeking help with the following jobs:

    *** Gardening helping hand***
Help us maintain and develop our veggie patch. Prep beds, keep the weeding up to scratch, plant seedlings out, sow seeds, water when needed and maintain the harvest.

    *** Dog Minding***
We run a boutique licensed dog house stay and as part of the task we seeking helpers with is general maintenance of the play area as well as water bowl filling, prep treats and watch over the dogs. We only have a maximum of 4 dogs staying on the property at any one time and they are all adorable, and importantly very well behaved, most of the time!

    *** Painting***
We have created a few cupboards and storage space, these now need painting and bringing the tasks to an end so we can tick this jobs off the to do list.

    *** Au-pairing without the kids!***
There is plenty of indoor work to do to be ready, so if you enjoy cooking and helping out in the house, we would love to hear from you.

If you are looking for a job in town, there are two breweries and plenty of cafes, plus Beechworth has plenty of wineries and vineyards just out of towns that will be looking for vintage harvest staff. However, we aren't in the position to assist you with any work search. We would suggest you join the N=Beechworth Community FB page and post a call for work.

Who are we? We both enjoy travelling, discovering new places, the outdoors and sustainable lifestyles. Resi particularly enjoys growing vegetables, preserving the harvest and she is also a bit of an IT geek. She’s a qualified Permaculture Designer. Vince is an outdoor sports fan, from mountain biking, wild swimming, trail running and more. New hobby includes home brewing and enjoying the product of his hard work. We both have a love for food and cooking, and socialising.

What we expect? Exchange is for 21hrs work in exchange for all week food and lodging. We will provide all the food you need for all the time you are staying with us and a comfy place to sleep (including bedding! we get asked this a lot!). We do eat meat, however during summer time is mostly vegetarian, with some yummy bacon or something! If you are vegetarian or vegan, let’s chat - that is not an issue - but we will need to do some extra planning! Resi used to be vegan and we also like to eat vegetarian, so it’s not a problem. This also applies to any other dietary requirements within reason. And if you enjoy cooking, we most definitely will like to hear from you!

During summer time, we might be starting early in the morning, have a long lunchtime break as the temperature can easily reach 35℃ or more, and then continue later in the day. Winter time might be a different story, we are quite high up and there is very little tree cover (for now!)

What’s to do on your day off? Beechworth is a gold mining town with heaps and heaps of history and character. Google it and look for the 'Explore Beechworth', there are plenty of videos to inspire you. During winter we are about 2hrs drive to the ski slopes of Falls Creek and Mount Hotham (note, there are a few charges to access the ski fields - ask us about it!) Bushwalking and camping abounds and there are lots of free camping places to go and explore. We are also in a prime wine making area, cycle tracks abound and if micro brewing interests you, every local town has at least one micro-brewery!

If you like the sound of what we have to offer, get in touch and find out more. Couple/friends are welcome.

PLEASE NOTE #1: we are about 6km from town, that is 20min bike ride or 1.5hr walk. If you don't have your own transport, we have bikes you can borrow.

PLEASE NOTE #2: strictly non smokers, or pets (as it impact our dogminding licence)

PLEASE NOTE #3: we do not have helpers staying between 22 December and 3 January.

regional Victoria is not great for internet access - we do have reasonably good internet but is limited. Once we run out - we are out of data until the new month starts. Beechworth has a great library with free internet access which we would recommend making use off.
