Annika and Udo have been part of our team in January for two weeks. They have been a great help for our project and we were exited to host such easy going, talented and hard working people. We would recommend them both to everyone: they were very down-to-earth, reliable and brave people who really grow into a part of our team as the exchange and communication was always uncomplicated. They have been interested in everything we have explained and were not afraid to work with machines and tools new to them, drive or wheel loader or learn new things. Annika and Udo have been open to all kinds of tasks and they didn’t mind getting their hands dirty or working in cold weather conditions (January was not really comfortable weather wise). We would host them again any time and hope to stay in touch.

Hello 😊 I’m writing this message with some delay because my journey through Thailand has been very intense and a lot has been happening. I spent not just a week but around 10–12 days with Kitty, and I remember that time very warmly. The food was absolutely delicious, and the atmosphere was very welcoming. The tasks I was doing gave me a lot of satisfaction, especially because I could use my skills. I was doing small renovations, repairs, replacements, and preparing hotel rooms for guests. The work was varied, so every day was interesting and rewarding. I’m very happy that I could spend that wonderful time there. It was my first volunteer experience in Asia, found through Workaway, and I’m truly grateful for this opportunity. I also have to mention that Dino’s smoothie stand is amazing! Thai smoothies are fantastic, and mango sticky rice is absolutely incredible 😄 Thank you for the opportunity to be part of this place. Thank you, Kitty, and your whole family for your kindness and hospitality 🙏

Dear Mayuko Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience with us. We truly appreciate your kind words and thoughtful reflection on your stay in Kigungu. It was a pleasure having you with us, even for a short time. We are very grateful for the support and care you shared with the children during your volunteering at the school. Activities like drawing, origami, and playing together may seem simple, but they mean a great deal to the children and create lasting, joyful memories for them. We are also happy to hear that you felt welcomed by our staff and community. One of our goals is to ensure that volunteers not only contribute but also gain a deeper understanding of the lives, backgrounds, and environment of the children we serve. Knowing that your time here was meaningful to you encourages us greatly. Thank you once again for your openness, kindness, and willingness to support our work. You will always be welcome in Kigungu, and we hope our paths may cross again in the future. With sincere gratitude, Francis

I am really glad my first workaway experience was with Marco. This man is welcoming, caring, helpfull and really make sure you are comfortable. I arrived here with 2 or 3 hours late because I didn't had any data i didn't know where to go, and still welcomed me with open arms. He cares so much that, knowing that I didn't ate meat and smoke, he asked me if I had a problem with people around me eat meat and smoking just to be sure. And during my stay here he also hepled me getting my NIE. Fulvio and Lola his dogs are sooo cuuuute and irresistible, not cuddling them is impossible. The work we've been doing here, out in the open of the country side, is physical but not tiring and like i said before Marco will make sure you are comfortable. He is the definition of nice and easy going. Thank you so much for your time, help, patience and for welcoming in your canine family.

Our experience at Hiri and Sophea’s farm has been unforgettable. We spent two wonderful weeks sharing moments that we will always remember. Our tasks included helping to plant cacao seeds, preparing the soil by burning rice husks, harvesting coffee and roasting it. All the tasks are very manageable since it’s only three hours a day, and the time goes by very quickly. We also had the chance to taste the incredibly good coffee they grow on their farm. For us, it has been very rewarding to get to know them, and we truly appreciate the way they shared everything with us and how well they treated us from the very first day. We shared this experience with Baret and Mr. Lee, two souls we will never forget either. Thank you for the laughter and the beautiful moments — we hope we can see each other again someday. A big hug to Hiro, Sophea, Hirain, and Nimet from Juan and Lucía ❤️

This was my 6th WorkAway in India. It was a heart warming experience. Bharat and his wife, Anita made the three Workawayers part of their family. The school community welcomed us with open arms. Foreigner visitors to the school are definitely adding value to the programme. I would advise that workers go prepared with ESL games and ideas. It is a beautiful district with scenic walks, it is well worth travelling the back roads. I travelled from Jaipur by night bus and again from the nearest bigger town by night bus to Mumbai. This is a highly recommended rural experience.

I really enjoyed staying with many dogs and seeing all the dogs are very different. I haven't had a pet, but now I'm thinking of having a pet after going back to my country.

We spent 4 weeks (with a little break between) on Daniele and Annalisa's land and had really good time, even though the weather wasn't always the best (more bagnato then asciutto :D). It was the perfect place for our first Workaway experience and we are really excited to see how their project will grow. We were able to manage our work independently, make plans all together for each day and could talk about everything. We built in this weeks windows for the house and a dog and chicken house as well. Annalisa, Daniele and little Momo are truly inspiring people. <3 We can highly recommend them as a host. Thank youuuu!

I spent almost three weeks with Ivan and Valentin. They are both truly kind and good-hearted people who made me feel very welcome and introduced me to Sardinia. In my free time, I also had the chance to explore many beautiful places around the island. I learned so many new things, and it was a real pleasure to take care of the animals, who are all adorable. I met some wonderful people, and I will never forget the Pinnettu sardo. Grazie mille

It was a very enjoyable experience to have Jacob with us. He was able to perform all jobs we tasked him with and learnt very rapidly how to use te various tools needed for woodworking and gardening. We also enjoyed the discussion with him around the meals. Jacob has trravelled extensively, including in countries where I have never set foot, and we appreciated to hear about this, about his family and his world views. Jacob was also the ideal compagnon hiker, adapting to my pace and making the right decisions at the right time. We are looking forward to seeing him again anytime he wishes!

We stayed with the family for a little over a month and had a wonderful experience. They were incredibly kind and welcoming. The location is only 10 minutes away by bike and is perfect for visiting larger cities such as Haarlem, Amsterdam, Leiden, Rotterdam, and even Utrecht. We had our own bikes, which made getting around very easy. Overall, it was a great pleasure to meet them and spend time with them!

I highly recommend this host! I had a very comfortable and relaxing two-week stay and truly enjoyed my time there. My main tasks were walking the dogs and cooking. Since I was really missing Japanese food, I felt nice to be able to cook Japanese meals for her—and I was so happy she enjoyed it! I also really enjoyed talking with her. Our conversations were fun, I learned many new things, and we shared some wonderful moments together. I already miss the two energetic and adorable dogs, as well as the two very friendly cats. I would love to visit again someday and am really looking forward to meeting again in Japan!

Dear Martina, The week I spent with you has truly become one of my greatest treasures. It was my first time in Europe, my first solo trip, and my first Workaway experience. Everything was new to me, and at the beginning I felt quite nervous. But in just one week, my life with you in Ried im Innkreis turned into an irreplaceable and beautiful memory. You prepared a warm and comfortable room for me, and every day you cooked fresh, healthy, and colorful meals. Our conversations were always fascinating. Through you, I not only learned more about Austria, but I also had the chance to reflect on and appreciate my own country more deeply. As a Workawayer, I mainly cleaned and organized the kitchen, living room, and cabinets. You always gave me clear instructions and provided the right tools, so I never felt confused or overwhelmed. Working together in the cozy room while listening to the radio was such a joyful and peaceful time for me. Finally, Martina, thank you so much for welcoming me into your home. When you smiled, it made me truly happy. The people around you are all so kind, and I believe that is because you are such a wonderful person. I sincerely hope to see you again someday. Please stay healthy and take good care of yourself. With love, Kiki

We spent three weeks there, which was very welcoming. You stay in a volunteer house (unfortunately, Mama J no longer works there, but she was the "mama" of the house and took care of everything we needed). Things to know: Although not mentioned in the post, it costs 10 USD per day (25,000TZS), which we think they should mention. We still recommend volunteering there. The team is very friendly and takes good care of the volunteers' wellbeing. Even when we went to a bar, they came with us to make sure we got the best treatment. The NGO (Ruth) arranged safaris and day trips for us at great prices, and some of this money goes to the NGO as income, so it's a win-win. Food is very basic with a lot of carbs and not much meat. But what made this place unforgettable were the other volunteers; they were amazing, and we are blessed to have been there at the same time as them. Bottom line: We highly recommend going there and supporting them.
