    Description

We are a German family who moved to Portugal five years ago.
Two adults and two Teenager aged 16.
Our farm is quite far-off from other people, the next village would be 3 kilometers through the forest.
It is very rural and very simple.
The volunteers will most likely stay in a caravan or camper, or small Tinyhouse - depending on what is available.
The electricity is only generated by solar modules. The kitchen is outdoors, and the shower too.
We have animals like chickens, goats, parrots, guinea pigs, cats, dogs, ducks, pigs, donkeys.

You will be welcomed into the family, eat all meals with us (if you like).
Everything is very flexible, at what time of day you work and to some extent what you want to do. Of course some things have priority and just have to be done.
Sometimes there is more to do and sometimes less. We will not treat you like an "unpaid worker" and only ask you to do things that we know you are capable of.
The whole family is up between 7-9 am in the morning, that is when the day starts with Breakfast.

    Help:
The work can be a lot of different things. Mainly taking care of the garden and cultivating some nomansland.
Also taking care of some of the animals from time to time.
Volunteers are also always welcome to contribute with ideas and talents and we will see what we can do.

    Food:
We are vegetarian/vegan, so there is no meat, no junk food. Water is what we drink.
Our diet is simple, but healthy.
You will be provided with three meals per day.

Absolutely smoke-free on the property, because of the high fire risk

    We have fast Internet connection.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

You will be able to get to know the simple life.
Learn German if you want, live in a family and have fun with all the animals on the farm.
There is also a possibility to arrange a ride for you, where you can see some of the cities and markets around here. But that is depending on the length of your stay.

  • Help

    Help

We especially need some help with the Garden and keeping the area clean. So cutting bushes and all sorts of things, taking care of some of the animals, watering plants, and picking weeds, cut firewood and some chores around the house and farm.
Maybe also help building some new things, like stables, and small houses for volunteers and guests.

We definitely need someone who doesn't mind a bit of physical work and is able to learn and pick up things quickly if they aren't used to such work.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

Tent, yurt, caravan, Tinyhouse or whatever is free at the time for living/sleeping. You will for sure have a cosy bed : )

The meals will be eaten together. No meat.
We can provide, Vegan and Vegetarian food, or most other special diets.

There is a room where you can play games and just hang out with other people. Also a roofed outdoor place with the kitchen and things like table tennis and football table.
That is where everything revolves around. In summer it is nice and cold and the best place to survive the midday heat.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

In your time off, you can go for walks, see the little town, maybe get a ride to cities a little bit further away. And there is a bike for the volunteers, if needed. And also we do have a canoe near by a river which you could use.
There is also a pool you can use (only with water from a near by spring and no chlorine).
Some things to play with, like a football table.
Whenever we go do something, you are very likely to be invited to join.
