The experience here with Peter and the whole community was just amazing. I have been welcomed warmly and from the very beginning I have felt at home. The place is a piece of paradise where every corner invited me to wind down and enjoy pure nature. All animals are kind souls that taught me something about myself. Every person there is genuine and has something to offer at personal level through workshops, activities or just deep conversations. Positivity, empathy and creativity are lived fully everyday here. I ended this experience enriched and full of gratitude. I wish to return soon and have another great experience here! See you soon guys :)

I loved every minute I spent with Noreen and her two lovely kids and everyone else I met during my short stay. Noreen is fun, friendly and kind. She took me to beautiful places (no shortage of these in Kerry!), she gave me a comfy room to stay in, good food and excellent company. I could not ask for more, she was so very generous with me. The work was mostly housework, nothing too hard, I just hope I earned my keep. Noreen, so many thanks!

Eve and Rich stayed with me for approximately one month at the animal sanctuary. They were generally pleasant, punctual, respectful of the household and very capable in the kitchen. Eve has previous sanctuary experience and was familiar with basic animal care routines. That said, I feel it’s important for future hosts — particularly those working with animals — to be aware that this placement required a higher level of supervision than I initially expected. Over the course of their stay, there were several instances where instructions related to animal safety were not followed or were forgotten, including gates left unlatched, sharp tools left in paddocks and one occasion where a horse remained in his stall for an extended period without food or water after a task had been discussed and acknowledged. For hosts whose projects involve animals, livestock, or safety-critical routines, I would strongly recommend providing very clear, written instructions along with regular follow-ups and checks to ensure tasks are completed as intended. Without that level of oversight, there is potential risk. Eve and Rich would likely be well-suited to house-sitting, gardening, cooking, or other roles where tasks are less time-sensitive and do not directly impact animal welfare. However, for animal care placements, close supervision and structured systems would be essential. I share this review in the spirit of transparency and to help ensure good matches between hosts and volunteers going forward.

Hi Hans :) I was fortunate enough to stay with Hans, as well as two like minded gentlemen, for a month last year in November and I can honestly say I cherished every moment of the experience. I'm writing this two months later and many a time I fondly reminisce on the laughs we shared, the beautiful rural environment and memories that will stick with me for a lifetime time. I can not say enough positive attributes Hans has. Hans showed me he was more than empathetic. He welcomed us into his home, introduced us to his family, forgave me, encouraged me and I truly felt the whole time I was there he had our best interests first. He treated us like family, accommodated for our needs and respected us as individuals. I was slightly overwhelmed by his generosity. I found the whole experience rewarding but especially peaceful. To be situated, almost isolated, in rich forestry, In a cozy authentic Norwegian household (which he built HIMSELF!! ) really gives you a lot of time to reflect and relax. I remember waking up to coffee and oats whilst in snowed outside, cows rubbing their heads against me, reading next to the fire with Hans's cat cuddled next to me, rodkal and cheese sandwiches, Hans's mothers bakeries, laughs at the dinner table, his own meat and admiring the Northman lights. I felt incredibly lucky to be invited. In my opinion Hans offers more than just cultural exchange, he provides a space of refuge. A position to be introspective. An opportunity to meet insightful, warm people. I'll forever be thankful for the time Hans gave me and for the pleasure of meeting his acquaintance. I'd egarly recommend anyone interested in farm life to request a stay and encourage you to fully embrace yourself. I ganrentee you will throughly enjoy the experience and I hope you do as much as I did. I'd be privileged to return. Thank you again Hans, God bless you. Ben

It was a joy hosting Johanna and Max! Not only were the range of tasks I requessted - from pruning trees to cleaning my car to shifting heavy contents out (Im a bit of a hoarder!) and cleaning a cobwebby garage to housework - completed but their energy was upbeat, their approach thorough , their care noticeable so each workday became for me a pleasure. We had interesting conversations, i was pleased they borrowed my kayaks and seemed to enjoy their outing, we checked out some local glowworms, and they even came to an evening Toastmasters group where Johanna was courageous enough to give an impromptu mini speech. Thank you both for your time with me. I'd recommend you to any host. Meanwhile, travel well and may your forthcoming adventures meet your needs.

My experience here has been one of my favorite experiences while traveling. This hostel has a special energy that makes people extend their stay and keeps people returning. The hostel is really cozy and homey, which is thanks to all the people involved in running it. The work you do as a volunteer is straightforward, and immediately upon arriving, I felt very welcomed and comfortable with everybody. I definitely would recommend this experience to other volunteers, as you get to try delicious Albanian food that’s cooked in the hostel, have fun karaoke nights, learn about Albanian culture, and meet volunteers and guests from all over the world. Thank you to everyone I met here, (Nana, Rovena, Rodi, Disi) and all of the volunteers for taking care of each other and making it such a memorable time. By the end of my experience, the place and everyone felt like a second family. I’m really looking forward to coming back here!

I highly recommend this workaway! The work was always fun and different. Boris and Fernando are very helpful with planning events and making sure you feel at home. The hostel in super social, so being a solo female traveler, I always had someone to hangout with. I’ve truly never stayed at a more fun hostel. Being able to go to dance classes for free made it more than worth it. The life in Cali is definitely a salsa/going out city, so having the extra dance help is necessary. I cannot recommend this job enough! If you come to Cali you MUST stay here as long as you possibly can-and often longer in most cases.

Marissa was an amazing host. She was my first host for my trip to Peru and I'm so grateful for her welcome. She is knowledgeable and enthusiastic about Lima and is happy to share what she knows. I felt comfortable and at ease, and I enjoyed the housework we did together including pulling avocados from her avocado tree! I would strongly recommend her to anyone who is desiring an authentic Lima exerperience. Her cat Genesis was a lovely housemate :)

We thoroughly enjoyed hosting Merle as she was helpful, intelligent, independent and enjoyable company. We were fortunate to have another volunteer her at the same time and they made a fantastic team. We would highly recomend her to other hosts.

Max and Alex spent 2 weeks wirh us in January 2026. They were fantastic Workawayers. They were hard-working, showed great initiative, and carried out every task with a smile. Max cooked delicious dinners, and together they were excellent company to have around the house. They were genuinely interested in Irish life and culture and were both interesting and engaged in conversation. Communication was always clear, and they followed directions very well. When left to their own devices, they easily identified what needed to be done both inside and outside the house and got on with it without needing supervision. I would happily recommend Max and Alex to any future host.

This place felt like a little paradise to me. I really enjoyed getting to know the whole family and spending the New Year holidays together. I’m very grateful for the warm welcome and hospitality. I loved my stay so much that I even extended it for two more weeks. I felt very comfortable and at home here. Thank you, Bruno, for the great atmosphere and care — I left with only warm memories💚🧡❤️

I spent two wonderful months here, helping out at the education center, teaching the children an environmental education course, and teaching the staff English and computer skills. All the staff are truly kind and make you feel at home. The accommodation was a private, comfortable tent with a breathtaking view, a shared bathroom, and a shared kitchen. There were usually other volunteers there, which made the experience even more unforgettable. Giulia

I spent two unforgettable weeks here, and it was such a lucky first Workaway experience. From the start, the family and guests welcomed me warmly, making me feel at home even far from my country. Having lived in cities my whole life, experiencing this different way of living taught me so much. Meditating at sunrise and gazing at the star-filled sky are moments I’ll always remember. Yoga and meditation with Maria and Teo helped me explore my own natural rhythm, and sharing vegetarian meals together showed me the warmth of communal living. The welcoming and supportive atmosphere even made it easy to try making kimchi for the first time. I stayed in the caravan, which was quiet and comfortable. But winter nights can be a bit cold, so bringing an electric heating pad or something warm can be helpful if you’re sensitive to the cold. I also enjoyed trying a variety of work, from gardening and mulching to cooking and cutting firewood, always feeling well-supported by the hosts. One week I stayed alone, giving me time for reflection, while the other week with other kind, thoughtful, and brave fellow volunteers was full of exploration, jogging, painting, card games, and joyful moments. Singing and dancing together at the party was a highlight I’ll never forget. Experiencing permaculture and seeing how everyone takes initiative to care for the finca impressed me a lot. Even with my limited English and Spanish, I truly felt welcomed and respected. I missed the finca as soon as I left. Thank you all so much. I hope I can visit again someday!

Spent an amazing time there meeting funny and adventurous other girls and being in a welcoming home with such nice hosts <3 Shoutout to Peter for the AMAZING food and funny stories. Spending time watching the stars, being around the beautiful vineyards, being able to go to the river, reading books on the couch with the other girls.. .honestly the best life. Be ready to work anyways ! We were spending around 5 hours a day under the sun in the vineyards, and that was tiring ! But we had very nice pasta coming back ;) Will come back with pleasure ! Thanks again to Lorenzo, Laura and Peter xoxo Sarah

AMAZING time with my “family” in Bojacá! I truly felt welcome from the first day I arrived in the house. This is a great Workaway experience for someone who wants to integrate into normal life in a small town for a while, and form really lovely relationships. The family is creating online courses for English and Spanish, so the work relates to their course materials and marketing. It is a supportive environment where expectations are clear and undemanding. You will receive so much help with Spanish as well, from people who know what it is like to learn another language. In addition to working with them and improving your Spanish, there is tons of time to relax, do your own thing, and spend time together playing games. This family will treat you as one of their own, include you in all their fun plans, and feed you delicious meals. I will treasure my time with Julian, Isabel, Sebastian, Juliana, and Stiven, and I know I have friends for life in Bojacá. Sending lots of love and gratitude.

My experience with Ana and Fabrizio was vert great. They are very kind, attentive, and good listeners, and they truly take into account everyone’s needs and recommendations. Ana has a real joy for life, always smiling and positive, and it’s a pleasure to share daily life with them. They are also very good at giving advice for free time, and the panorama where they live is truly beautiful, which makes the experience even more enjoyable. I would definitely recommend them.

I volunteered at the animal sanctuary for the whole of January 2026. The dogs, cats and hens are lovingly looked after. The dogs are well fed, walked regularly, and given veterinary care whenever needed—the cats have plenty of outdoor space in their enclosure. I enjoyed giving the animals lots of love, too, as did everyone else. The accommodation was in tents, which had the necessities provided. The tents were indoors due to the cold, and we had a wood-burning heater to keep the room warm. I especially enjoyed connecting with the dogs and taking them for walks every day. Overall, the sanctuary is an experience which I would recommend for any animal lover.

We had a wonderful month on Salvador’s land and would happily have stayed another: we fell in love with the people, the animals, and the place. Salvador, Martel and the various members of the family who stayed were warm, hospitable, cultured and fun—quick to laugh and always happy to share good food and conversation. They’re a special family, full of artists and musicians and creatives. For much of the time, we were left our own devices and the company of five dogs, one cat, a horse and a pregnant donkey. These quiet days were a pleasure, too. Salvador always made sure we were well stocked with food in his absence. There were daily chores—watering the garden, feeding the animals—and we were given a range of projects that we were trusted to manage and complete under our own initiative. The work was enjoyable and balanced. We heartily recommend staying with Salvador and the fam. It’s a little like something out of 100 Years of Solitude, and won’t soon be forgotten. Thank you!
