I recently stayed with Sophia and Saskia for nearly a week and had a wonderful time! They are both very welcoming and open people. They included me in a lot of their life during my stay, including showing me around the city centre, going to a favourite ice cream shop, and introducing me to some of their friends. We also had many great conversations about shared interests, differences in culture between Germany and Canada, and their own travels. Nuremberg is a nice city, big enough to have plenty to see and do, but not so big as to be overwhelming. And Sophia and Saksia’s apartment is in a nice neighbourhood, within walking distance of the city centre. The apartment itself isn’t huge, but it’s cute and comfortable. I had a room to myself, so privacy was always available if I wanted it. For the work, I got the balcony ready for spring and repotted some house plants. The work was mostly completed on my own, but with clear discussion of what needed doing first and always the ability to ask questions if I was uncertain. Work hours were very reasonable. Overall, I highly recommend Sophia and Saskia as hosts and would gladly stay again!

My experience with Samuel was nothing less than amazing. Samuel and his wife Lucy opened me with open arms, making me feel completely welcomed and safe. This was my first workaway experience and Samuel did everything in his power to make me feel comfortable. From before I came, he gave me numbers of volunteers who would be there before me, and on my first day I had an issue withdrawing cash which prevented me from being able to pay my driver from the airport, Samuel then sorted the issue out with my driver which relieved me from so much stress and the following day after arriving assisted me with getting cash and so on. The work him and his family does at the schools are also so amazing. Him, the fellow teachers at the school and the students have such a beautiful energy that cannot be described into words. They all have this thirst for knowledge, which only inspires me and the other volunteers I was with. The children are also so kind and so welcoming. Same with the teachers. I have made some of the best memories with my time in Uganda, Kanoni Town, and would recommend it to anyone else who just wants to slow down their lives, and help others. You just being there, going to class, going to teach helps the community. And I am completely blessed for the experience I have gained on the way. Thank you Samuel, Lucy, all the children and teachers, and to all the volunteers.

Staying with Donna was an absolute highlight. From the moment I arrived, she made me feel completely at home, welcoming, warm, and genuinely lovely to be around. I had the pleasure of meeting her friends too, and it was clear just how much she is cherished by the people in her life. We even learned a new board game together, which was such a fun way to spend an evening. The food deserves a special mention. Donna's cooking was exceptional, generous, delicious, and made with real care. There was always more than enough, and I loved trying the amazing products she had brought with her from England. The work itself was varied and rewarding, a mix of home repairs and outdoor tasks, and it felt great to be able to give something back to someone who gives so much to those around her. Donna is the kind of person who quietly makes her community a better place, and being able to help her, even a little, was a joy. Don't miss the thermal baths in town either, absolutely worth a visit. I would return in a heartbeat!

I spent an amazing 2 weeks with Skye and her family. It is a stunning part of the world and a great place to be immersed in nature. There was a nice variety of jobs to help out with and it was nice to think more about eco-friendly living. I enjoyed every moment, from assisting in the houses, helping with stock takes and doing research for the gardens. I would highly recommend especially to people with permaculture experience.

The time we spend here was a dream! We stayed 2 and a half weeks and the first thing that was absolutely amazing about the two of them is their flexibility. Since our original Host cancelled us, we could come to them within one day and going on had such a beautiful time! We made quiet some progress in the garden which was amazing to see but not only the work was cool. The location is great too! We made trips to the see but were also able to go to the city by foot or use the bikes. But naturewise their region is absutely fabulus! We met friends of them and also another workawayer with whom it was a great time. So we can really recommend visiting them and having a beautiful experience at Argeles-sur-Mer!

Wow.. it is a pretty one-of-a-kind experience that I think it would benefit those of all walks of life to experience. The base and work is run in the most organised and supportive way I have ever experienced in my years of volunteering, and the culture this creates between the short and long term volunteers, the staff and the locals is quite amazing - you will join alone and leave with a family. The work is tough, the mornings are early, and the joy is immeasurable - it's really hard to fault it. I came for only 5 weeks but when the project end was delayed/extended I knew it was a call for me to come back and I returned for the end as well, celebrating a hard job very well done. Talking about the work seems almost redundant, you'll be doing manual labour on a construction site, you're catered for (incredible food - double Dal Bhat Dal Bhat Dal Bhat Dal Bhat every day), everyone is there to help and wants you to succeed I really just see no reason why anyone reading this review would not have already applied, and if you're accepted, well, I guess I'll just say I'll see you at the next project. Much love to all the team that make this and all the other projects you do happen.

We are very grateful to Marie for the time, care, and experience she brought to our project. She arrived with years of knowledge and a collaborative spirit, working closely with our team to better understand the needs, requests, and cultural context of the local mamas. Her respectful approach and willingness to listen created a strong foundation of trust and meaningful exchange. Even after her stay, Marie has remained actively engaged, continuing to support and monitor the work alongside the mamas. Thanks to this ongoing connection, many of the women are growing in confidence and strengthening their skills, which is creating positive ripple effects within the community. We also appreciate the patience and dedication it took for this experience to finally happen. Although Marie was not able to join at the first time she had planned, we stayed in touch, and we are very happy that it became possible when the timing was right. We are thankful for her genuine interest, respect, and ongoing engagement, and we look forward to continuing this journey together!

Rody is an easy going person with lots of experience and life stories that make up for passionate conversations. He is always eager to help, in particular in terms of research, and connecting people and resources. We had to let him go prematurely, as he was not enough present for the tasks at hand on our farm.

It was a pleasure to host Romain. He was very helpful, very kind and he engaged in interesting conversation. He helped us to paint some rooms in preparation of upcoming residencies and events, he helped to prepare the garden for planting and helped with organisation around the property. We really value his help and his presence here at our residency. Thank you Romain!

Trully amazing hosts! Uttam and Sahadev treated me like family since the first moment. If you want to know the real Nepal go stay with them. I learned from them so much and I only wish I can spend more time with them, Top Workaway host but you need to be proactive and show you are motivated to participate as they would never ask you to work for them.

Fabian was nicely motivated and got to work both independently and with the other volunteers. He turned out to be a natural talent for welding and for our welder it was a great pleasure to teach him! We shared meals and also attended a concert. And we hope to see him again in about a month when he plays the horn at the Rotterdam Concertgebouw! Thanks Fabian!

What a nice, funny and lovely couple are you two. And what a surprise when we came back to our house. You both took great care of our house, chickens and garden. and also did some awesome jobs. Feel always welcome for a visit or short stay.

We really enjoyed Steve's short stay with us. He is interesting, kind and fun to be around. Steve got in and tackled all the outdoor tasks with enthusiasm, worked well with our other WorkAway, Sam and fitted into the household routines easily. Holly thoroughly enjoyed his calm and supportive presence and was sad to say goodbye to him. Thanks Steve for joining us, we wish you all the best with your future travels, we hope this adventure can shed some light on what you want to do next. Best of luck.

Paolina stayed with us for just over a month as a volunteer, and it was a really great experience to host her. She is friendly and good spirited, and always took her responsibilities seriously. In addition to carrying out the reception work assigned to her, she assisted in organising activities for guests, and always made an effort to make all the guests and other volunteers feel at home. We would highly recommend her , and wish her all the best. We are certain that she will visit us again one day :)

It was a pleasure to host Hannah at our farm. She was very helpful, respectful and a fast learner, picking up new tasks with ease. She showed maturity beyond her years and good judgement. Amoung other things, she took on full responsbility for managing our farm animals, which we were grateful for. We would highly recommend Hannah to other hosts. We have certainly made a new friend and plan to keep in touch.

I had a great experience staying here for two weeks. Marco and Cor were lovely hosts with lots of good food, conversation and local recommendations easily accessible with one of the bikes. On the days the other volunteers were there I learned lots of new skills working with metal and everyone was very friendly and supportive. Being in the center of town it was easy to jump on a bike and go explore the city or train to somewhere else for a day trip. Hope to see you all again sometime!

Leonard is an enthusiastic and committed host. He has some great plans for the future and lots of different building and construction projects on the go. Everybody got given their own job and unfortunately we didn't get the opportunity to work together very often, so didn't feel we were able to contribute as efficiently as we could have.  We worked 8:30 - 1:30 Monday to Friday and between the 5 of us everyone took turns to cook lunches and dinners using the food available in the house. We were lucky that the other volunteers living there during our visit were a good bunch and we had an enjoyable stay. It would be a difficult to visit Rome from here (the closest train station is more than 3 hours walk away). However, the lake is very beautiful and there is plenty of time for relaxing, cuddling Wadi 😻 and exploring the local walking/cycling trails. Unfortunately Laura wasn't there for most of our stay but we wish both of them all the best for the future.
