Catherine

Georg managed to help fix some long term problems that we had mechanically. It was great to get my car back on the road after a year. Thanks Georg. Georg was very easy to cater for. He respected our privacy and fitted in well when we socialized together.

Sorry to have taken so long to give feedback. Shogo was a delight to have working with us, willing to learn, interested in everything, and always did his best. He was good company and engaged in good conversation. I would thoroughly recommend him for his next workaway adventure.

When I arrived in Turkey, I didn’t know the language or anything about the country. I’m so grateful that I got to stay with Nuri. He showed me around his city and introduced me to his friends and family. He taught me a lot about gardening and planting, and he even taught me my first Turkish words. Nuri is calm, gentle, kind, and funny. He also cooks the most delicious meals—every meal I had with him could easily be served in a restaurant. Thank you, Nuri Abi, for sharing your life with me. I’m really looking forward to seeing you again! All the best, Jan

I had a great time with Andrew, as the weather was not so inviting for outdoor activities we spend most of the time in the house working out the last apples and walnuts and thanks to his great mind and knowledge about philosophy we never run out of topics to talk about. He knows lots of fun games but will probably not take the initiative as he is more introverted . But as soon you suggest something he is on board and willing to step out of his comfort zone. The few days we could do some work he helped chopping wood and pruning the raspberries. Thanks for your help and sharing your knowledge, I wish you many adventures on your travels and hope to meet again!!

Ines worked well on our farm. She was enthusiastic and took on all jobs given with energy and we found her to be very capable. We had a wide variety of jobs for her and nothing was too difficult for her. She is very sociable and enjoy lots of company.

We thought we'd come for a week, but it turned into five. We did some gardening. Dora and Anezio are so sweet people, and we couldn't have imagined a better work-away host. After work, we still had time to enjoy surfing or join Anezio's capoeira classes. We'll definitely see each other again!

I spent 3 month (Dec - Feb) at the shelter and I had the best time. The shifts were mostly about feeding, cleaning and giving the dogs some time on the field to play. The work was easy to pick up and after a few days I had the rhythm in mind. I lived in a nice apartment offside and always had a car available for driving to the shelter or just exploring the island. We were only a few people because of the holidays and the off-season, but we got to know each other very well and spent a lot of time drinking tea, watching movies, learning each others languages and exploring the island together. With Mirte I got the absolut best manager and she cared a lot about every single volunteer and animal and tried her best to give everyone a good time on the island. Kos itself was very nice because there were barely any tourist and it was cool and wet enough for the plants to grow. So by January everything was green and the flowers started to grow. Overall I would recommend coming to the shelter in the off-season or at all. It was an amazing time and I learned a lot about animals and the island.

Oh my goodness I don't even know where to begin in expressing my love and gratitude for this workaway experience! It genuinely felt like one of those extremely rare moments in life where strangers truely go from friends to family. From the beginning we felt very comfortable in the home, everyone was so friendly and welcoming we felt part of the family instantaneously. We felt so lucky that we came at carnival time and everyone was so proud to show us the ins and outs of the festival, from dressing up, visiting parades and eating lots and I mean LOTS of candy! Calling it work seems so wrong because it was so much fun, we had jobs like cleaning the pony harnesses, weeding the garden, racking leaves, chopping up wood and cleaning the chicken pen and horse stables. It was all such fun work and most importantly they genuinely all were so appreciative of our help which just made us feel so happy at the end of the day. The most important thing that stood out about this workaway though was the culture exchange. Every meal shared together was full of laughter, good conversations, sometimes even a little dance party! From our days out together, to Susanne's fresh bread every morning, to the pony carriage rides and so much more! This workaway completely stole our hearts <3 Thank you guys for everything! Remember this isn't goodbye but a see you all later!! xo

Our stay with Sandra and Mark was an amazing experience. They welcomed us warmly as a small family with our 11-month-old baby, and we immediately felt at home. We stayed in our own separate little finca, which felt cozy, private, and truly like home. We were lovingly integrated into their daily life and enjoyed wonderful shared experiences, including trips to Ronda and Setenil and an unforgettable hike in a vulture area. They even trusted us with their car for our own trips, which we deeply appreciated. The work felt like shared projects and was well matched to everyone’s strengths: Ari worked with the horses together with Sandra, and Sebi used his handcraft skills, especially for fence building. We also loved cooking together and game nights, which created a real family feeling. What stood out most was how loving and caring they were with our son, including beautiful daily rituals like having breakfast together. We originally planned to stay three weeks, but changed our plans to stay an extra week — a clear sign of how much we enjoyed our time. We highly recommend visiting Sandra and Mark; we felt completely at home, made very good friends, and would come back anytime.

We spent two weeks with Paul in November, wanting to learn more about permaculture. Paul is the perfect person to talk to. He's knowledgeable and engaging. We planted all sorts of fruit trees and helped with projects in his house under construction. We had a delicious meal every night.

I had such a great time with Erasmo! I’d never used the tools before, but it was a really fun way to get started. He and his family are super welcoming, and it was a nice little stop to slow down for a week. Plus, you get a personal pasta-making and dancing class, what a bonus. My favorite moments were just having lunch outside, especially on a sunny day after work :)

I stayed a total of 4 weeks with Juan (and Max). And it was definitely one of my most favourite Workaway experiences. The place is a 10-minute walk from a beautiful lake (Juan will lend you his kayak/stand-up paddleboard so you can explore) and is surrounded by beautiful mountains (which you can hike up). Work was always a bit different, fixing stuff around the house like leveling the oven, building a gate, fixing some stairs, and also a lot of wood chopping and stacking. You're very flexible with planning your work hours, so you can make the most of sunny days. Juan is super friendly and fun; I felt welcome the second I stepped into his house. We always had dinner together, talked a lot, and spent afternoons/weekends together going to the lake or doing other stuff. It was also so much fun playing or going on walks with his dog Max (and Chicho and Tina, his friends, who came over often). I also met some other volunteers as well, who made my time even more fun and became good friends. I very much enjoyed this Workaway and would recommend it 100%. Thanks for having me!

It was a very nice opportunity for me to experience the local culture and helping his workshop. The hosts are very friendly and they cook delicious meals. Since they are hosting for many years, the environment was organized for volunteers.

¡Saludos a Pepino, Aurora, Peluche y Minaj! ¡Un abrazo para Charlie y Seba!

We stayed with Milo for nine days in a stunning setting, living in a charming home and sharing really nice meals together. We enjoyed the work, which was very varied. Thank you Milo for everything. Wishing you all the very best. We can’t wait to see all your projects come to life!
