Ida’s stay brought a great deal of inspiration to this project and community. For me as well, this experience opened up new possibilities and perspectives. During her residency, I could away traveling, but she responsibly took care of tasks such as cleaning the house and maintaining the garden and wall painting at studio. And she actively created opportunities to connect with people in the neighborhood. While I was away, a neighbor even came by to bring vegetables, which was a very heartwarming moment. neighborhood also invited her to the park and to play table tennis, and many warm exchanges naturally took place. She is a very independent person, and at the same time a highly creative and self-motivated artist. During her stay, she developed an art project in my studio and created an installation addressing women’s rights💪 In a small rural community like this, her presence had a meaningful impact. I feel that her stay created very positive outcomes for Hagi. I would strongly recommend hosting her to other hosts as well. Arigatou Ida! I deeply respect her courage as a young artist and her open and sincere character, and I look forward to seeing the positive possibilities that will emerge from her future projects. Thank you for such a wonderful stay.

I had a wonderful time with Helena and Paco! The small cherry tree farm is a beautiful place surrounded by nature. I stayed in the van witch is small and simple but every morning I woke up with the birds singing and a beautiful view of the valley:) I really enjoyed the work in the garden and in the afternoon Helena and Paco took me to villages up in the mountain, beautiful views or to events in the area. Also they showed me a lot of typical food and they could tell me a lot about the region and it´s culture. I felt very welcome from the first day on! They kept making sure that I feel comfortable. They were very patient with my spanish skills;) Thank you two for the wonderful time I had! I´m looking forward to come back one day:)

Laura wasn’t just a huge help to us; she settled in so well that it felt as though she’d always lived with us! Laura is very experienced with horses and dogs, she’s also incredibly warm-hearted when dealing with them. Even our older dogs enjoyed accompanying her on her walks. When it comes to horses, there’s no need to tell her anything – she’s a pro. Laura is also a good and safe driver, and reliably took my children to the train station and picked them up again. She’s a brilliant cook, too, and always made sure the kitchen was clean and tidy. I found Laura to be an open-minded woman, who enjoys communicating but is also perfectly happy on her own. The world needs women like her – and so do we :-) Dear Laura, a huge thank you! We look forward to seeing you again!

This was my very first Workaway experience, and honestly, it was amazing! First of all, Valerie took such great care of me. She put so much heart into everything, from the cozy accommodation to the delicious lunches and dinners she prepared. As for the work, since I was working solo, it could be a bit tiring at times, but the tasks—whether it was gardening or cleaning—were always interesting. Valerie truly treated me like family, and I’m so grateful for this experience. If I get the chance in the future, I’ll definitely return to Corsica to help her out again!

I stayed with Margot for over two weeks and had a fantastic time. I already knew Crete from previous visits, but I experienced the island in a completely new way. I was only familiar with the northern coastal strip between Remython and Malia in the summer. Crete in winter is much greener and looks totally different from summer, almost unrecognizable. Margot showed me a lot of East Crete and we visited many locations in her Fiat Panda, trips to Vai (with its beautiful beaches and many palm trees), Sitia, Ierapetra (where we also visited the carnival parade), and the beautiful coastal town of Mirtos several times. We also took a trip through the mountains with impressive views. Besides sightseeing, Margot also explained the basics of the Greek language and the alphabet to me and introduced me to various Greek dishes (both in restaurants and her own homemade Greek dishes). Margot is a sociable, intelligent, and open-minded woman and pleasant company to be around; we had many enjoyable conversations. I helped Margot with all kinds of tasks around her house. I cleaned her roof terrace, repotted plants and got them ready for the summer season, renovated a bench, cleared the front of her house of weeds, and did some minor painting work (table, fence, and electrical box). It was a special experience to live in an authentic greek mountainvillage with only 18 inhabitants and I want to thank Margot who is a great host, highly recommended! Thank you for your hospitality and the nice time we had!

It was an absolutely fantastic time over those weeks! We had so much fun, and our host was simply amazing. The vibe of the hostel is super cool, and it was great to get discounts on tours and to do our own laundry. We even got a private room – that was really cool. Thanks for the awesome time!

❤️‍🔥 They are genuinely wonderful people, and their sense of humor earned them a place in my heart. I truly hope our paths cross again. Fué difícil decirles adios... en verdad! 🫂🌱💞 Los quiero chicos!

Anna was a wonderful volunteer and a great help during her stay . She helped a lot with cleaning and managing the Airbnb, and she always did everything with care, responsibility, and a positive attitude. She is kind, respectful, and very easy to live and work with. It was truly a pleasure to host her, and I really appreciated all her help. She will always be welcome back anytime. Thank you so much, Anna! 😊

I spent two full weeks staying with Jason and Brett at their home, and my stay went extremely well. I was lucky enough to meet a wonderful couple: they’re funny, kind, and always do everything they can to make you feel comfortable and at home. The chores are often enjoyable, and it’s a real pleasure to do them in the heart of the Australian countryside. The surroundings are simply magnificent: the landscapes around the house are extraordinary and offer plenty of opportunities to enjoy nature in your free time. Personally, I loved going for runs in the national park right next to the house. It was the perfect time to explore the surroundings, breathe in the fresh air, and admire the beauty of the Australian landscapes. If you’re looking for a place to meet two wonderful people, have a great experience, and have a wonderful time, I highly recommend this place without hesitation. It’s a warm, welcoming, and truly amazing place to fully enjoy your stay.

I had a very meaningful stay with Wim and Dominique and I’m grateful for the time I spent at their place. They welcomed me into their daily life and created a relaxed and respectful environment where learning and exchanging ideas happens naturally. Wim is an incredibly capable handyman with impressive determination. Working alongside him was a great experience and a reminder of how much can be achieved with patience, skill, and perseverance. Dominique is thoughtful, knowledgeable, and passionate about languages and culture. Conversations with her are always engaging and full of interesting perspectives. The tasks were fair, the atmosphere was friendly, and I felt trusted and included from the beginning. I also had the unique experience of sleeping in a motorhome for the first time, which made the stay even more memorable. And of course, Lobo and Lucky deserve a mention (excellent guardians of the house and much gentler than their size first suggests). Thank you both for the hospitality and for sharing your home and your stories.☺️✨

Our first week was pretty nice and we were very ambitious to meet his expectations and followed his rules. Altough we had to deal with old gender roles, and other stereotypical ideas he has! Good things first; the garden work was nice (2 weeks out of 3 was weeding). He has a really big garden and it needs a lot of time and probably more hands to properly maintain this. You'll find delicious and affordable food nearby just be aware of street dogs in the night. Within time it didn't matter if we worked longer, did this extra cleaning or whatever he always find something else that wasn't good enough. Even in our "free time" he came and knew even my cooking better... It came to that point where we had to tell him that we find it disrespectful and the provocative jokes just went on. So if you are a 'yes and amen' person and not a person of color - you will have a good time! Another big thing for me was the two dogs!! I love dogs and it broke my heart... the blind dog gets biten daily by TT - both are great dogs that just are frustrated and don't like each other. You think he cares about it? Not really. When we had them around us we took care they don't get too close and it worked fine. Last thing: the weather in Ipoh is really hot. He doesn't open windows to let the air flow in the night. We struggled with the two fans to get good rest. To cool down your body with a shower? Not possible, the pipes getting heated up so bad you can shower hot during the day.

I'm sorry for the late reply; I don't know where my request went. I spent two weeks with Jackie and Victor in September 2025. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with these lovely people. I went for walks with Bella. We stacked logs and carried them into the barn. We tidied up and feed fire with sticks. I learned a little about painting. I'm not particularly talented at it. I learned a lot about the English language and culture. The food was very delicious. I would love to come back again. Thank you so much for your hospitality!

We stayed 2 weeks at Richard's workaway. We had a fantastic time helping around the farm, feeding the animals and restoring a beautiful old house. The other workawayers we stayed/worked with were great. Such a cute little town and the country side is beautiful.

I stayed at the finca for two and a half months. Thank you, Karen, for this wonderful experience. I was made to feel very welcome, Karen is a very friendly and caring person who creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The tasks and working hours are clearly defined. The accommodation is very pleasant and well-maintained, it is located near a bus stop, 20 minutes from the beach. Animal welfare is a top priority at the finca, which is home to horses, dogs, cats, ducks, chickens, canaries and a goat ! I would love to come back !

I spent a wonderful 1.5 weeks by Celeste and Anja in November. The main tasks were sandpapering, painting windows, and pruning the olive trees, which was a pleasure to do in the late autumn sun. The surroundings are also beautiful, I loved taking long walks around, and the nearby towns are also well worth exploring. Anja and Celeste are great hosts, they made sure we have everything, and it was a pleasure to get to know them and hear their stories. I really enjoyed our meals together, Celeste cooked us amazing food, and we had great conversations over dinner with Celeste, Anja and the fellow volunteers.

I spent a month at the hostel in Sarajevo, but could have easily stayed for longer. Sejla is a great host who clearly cares deeply about her hostel and the guests who stay there. As a volunteer, my main job was an 8 hour shift from 3-11 PM which I did 3 days a week. The work is easy and mostly consists of checking guests in and out as well as some cleaning and general maintenance. Sarajevo is an excellent, historic city with a beautiful old town and some great museums, so staying there for an extended period of time is really worth it. The other major benefit of working in a hostel is meeting so many interesting people who you can have great conversations with and learn a lot about. I was there in February, so the hostel wasn't too busy, meaning that I had a good amount of free time to explore, relax and do my remote work. I would highly recommend this Workaway, especially if you are a digital nomad or want to be able to explore the country. Having four days off a week meant that going on trips to places like Mostar and Belgrade was easy. Overall, I would highly recommend this workaway and thank Sejla as well as the other volunteers for making my stay so memorable.
