Valeria & Giulio were excellent WorkAwayers. Super interested in everything we were doing. Very responsible and attentive. Quick learners. A joy to have around. I would invite them back without hesitation.

Annslee and Abi are a dream team! They are highly skilled with woodwork and carpentry and in the 2 weeks they were with me they made custom built-in cabinets, drawers and shelves – among other things. The tasks were made much more difficult than usual as we were re-using old wood that was often warped and there are no straight angles in my old stone house. Annslee and Abi worked meticulously and with great patience to achieve results that I am so, so happy with. They worked completely independently, cleaned up everyday and went out of their way to put things back in their rightful homes – which is often overlooked and very much appreciated. On a personal level, Annslee and Abi fit in effortlessly with my friends, and we often enjoyed playing board games together after dinner. They were equally comfortable spending time on their own or socialising with others, and were consistently easy going and pleasant to have around. I highly recommend Annslee and Abi to any future Workaway hosts and I would be delighted to have them come back again in the future.

Jerome was a great host. When I had to leave another Workaway last minute due to bad weather, he took me in with very short notice. He is a very interesting guy - we had lots of deep conversations about politics, society, religion, love, and more. Would absolutely recommend.

Stella was extremely reliable and responsible. Not to mention her unflappable personality and pleasant disposition. She very easily fit into our routine.

holy schmoly what an amazing, special, wholesome, rough and very very interesting experience! U are probably reading all the reviews and seeing all the positive things that are being said and I am sorry but I can only agree on those things and say it is even more special than U think. The organisational people behind the school (Juliana, Baraka, Mr. Buffalo), the super super talented teachers, the aunties with their amazingly tasting and (relatively) diverse food (no it is not a modern city where u get a different world cuisine every night, of course), and especially the kids. They are funny, smart, happy, sad, strong willed and very inspiring. Try to inspire them back in your own way. This Workaway is a special oppertunity to get a real look in local rural life in Tanzania and especially in Maassai culture. The nature is stunning, the people colourfull and the memories lasting. Outside of school u can go to church, do a hike with the kids to their homes on the mountains next to the school, go to Serengeti (for a good price), play with the kids or take some time for yourself. All of them are great options. In the evenings U dance, watch movies or get to know the other volunteers better. go here with an open heart and mind, don't let the rough conditions sadden your mood and heart too much, see the beautifull and positive sides of this place and be inspired. And just enjoy man If you are looking for a nice authentic 'I wanna volunteer in Africa in a school kinda situation' (which a lot of you are, I see u reading this review) choose this one. U won't regret it.

I was at László/Laca for a week. It all started as usual - I wrote him an email on the workaway platform and asked him about his phone number. And already in the letter he wrote, "Sasha, come. I ACCEPT you. Then I called him via video link in Whats'Ap. And these are not just words - Latsi is a very sincere, sensitive person. And he is very decent, flexible - you can always agree on a time with him. He lives very simply, in a village near Budapest. His main farm is cows, many cows. Nature is near here, there is a forest. I heard an owl, I saw a raven and a magpie. I also saw deer and heard about a fox nearby. Everything in the house is there - water, including warm water. But it must be spent carefully, as it is heated by a stove with firewood. The house is also heated like this. There is also a washing machine. If you need heat, heat the stove. And this is understandable. If you want to eat, you can also cook something. Latsi is also very good at preparing various foods. The food/products are real, not like in the city. He bakes his own cheese, cottage cheese, and bakes bread himself. Sausage and eggs bought at the local village market. He will always sympathetically ask if you are full. I think that vegetarians can also agree with him about nutrition, but then they themselves will have to cook more. Of course, you also need to work physically. You won't be very clean, but you won't be dirty either. He is also a cheerful person, he has a lot of humor. He is also a very educated and decent person, which is more important, in my opinion. He is a true believer and a Christian, and he does not impose anything on anyone or even talk about it unless you ask or are interested. He is a believer in convictions and deeds at the same time. He is also tolerant and quite tolerant of different points of view. He may not agree with something, but he will definitely study the proposed topic. Budapest is about 30 - 40 minutes away by local train. It takes only ten minutes (10) minutes to walk to the stop. The ticket costs somewhere around ~1.5 € (at the exchange rate). In general, there are forints in Hungary. Laszlo knows the Russian language and culture well, English, probably, is also the same. - I heard it in English, but my English is weak, unfortunately. He knows an unimaginable amount about the culture and language of Hungary, and it is very interesting to me. Although the Hungarian language itself is quite difficult, it sounds beautiful to me. Now I have to go on soon, and I do it with sadness and even with some anguish. That's how I became friends with him. I will be happy to come to him again someday. I think that we will communicate with each other from time to time anyway.

Staying with Barbara was an amazing experience. She is a very welcoming person and made me feel at home from the very first day. I truly enjoyed the two weeks I spent in La Gomera being there allowed me to learn how agriculture works in a real, hands-on way, and on top of that, drinking fresh orange juice from our own tree was simply the best. Barbara is a great cook and an open, engaging person who is always happy to share ideas and try new things. Thank you so much for everything! :)

This experience was amazing and was very well organised. I stayed with Ms. Van and her family for 2 weeks. I taught the younger child, Ri, for one hour a day in the evenings, but the family really valued me spending time with him to teach him English in daily conversations. We did activities such as visit the Temple of Literature, went to the cinema, went shopping and even cooked dinner together one day! Ms Van is very hospitable, cooks really lovely food and even accommodated me for not eating certain things! Mr Van is also very welcoming and warm and I had some lovely conversations with him on Google translate (only the two kids speak fluent English). Grandma is very caring and kindly washed my clothes often, and refilled my water in my room. She also was always happy to see me and looked after me if I wasn't feeling well. I loved staying with the family although it was a slight culture shock at the beginning, but I slowly got used to the routine and the free time that I had. I had my own room and bathroom which made me feel really at home. The apartment was in a very modern block of flats and part of a complex with shops, gym, pool (which I wasn't allowed to use), but it felt safe and a home-away-from-home whilst I was long-term travelling. Outside of teaching Ri, I spent some time during the days at a kindergarten - they were very welcoming and was a good opportunity to see how it runs in Vietnam; the only barrier was language. When I was trying to help the kids, they did not understand and it felt very foreign for them. However, a lot of them warmed to me and it was a lovely way to spend time with them. I also spent some time with Ms. Tran and her kids. I went to her house twice (which is not too far from Ms Van's house by Skytrain) and had lunch with them. I also played games with Strawberry; she is a joyful girl and very energetic. I also gave some advice to her older daughter too. She took me around on her bike to watch their violin classes and we picked Strawberry up from school one day. It was lovely to spend time with Ms. Tran and learn about her history - it is amazing how ambitious she is and I admire her for gifting these opportunities to travellers who really want to delve into Vietnamese culture. Overall, I absolutely loved this experience and I was sad to leave. Ri and I had a lot of fun together and I miss him a lot. I will definitely be back to visit the family in the next few years.

This is an alert for a host when you're hoping to Host Barbara. On her face she looks more serious but it's wrong. She is the most easy going person when you give her a chance when it comes to helping. We hosted Barbara for 27 days but we felt both the organization members and Children that her time wasn't enough for our children to get tired of her. She brought different playing materials and a lot of games to our society which was more fun and enjoyable. I recommend her to everyone who wants an ideal person because she is a person who is good at advising and she is always giving a hand everywhere you need help. You always welcome Barbara and our doors are open for you when you want to join us.

This was my first workaway experience and it was absolutely amazing!! I stayed with them for only 2 months but it will be unforgettable. Thanks to both of the parents and kids being very kind, patient and welcoming, I felt immediately accepted into the family. In the morning I only had to do light chores but it was perfect as it gave me time to wake up. The food…. Sooooo tasty 🤤. I was excited for every meal because Lucia is an excellent cook. I usually woke up early at 7:30 as it gave me the whole morning to study Italian, skateboard, play drums and chat with Lucia and Agostino. Then in the afternoon after picking up Arianna, playing and studying with the kids and just giving out a hand in general. (to be honest it didn't feel like work at all). One of the things I am most grateful for is the true immersion into Italian life. Not only did I improve my Italian a lot, but I understood Italian life in depth. For example the school system, the state of Italy and formalities. The kids are all very well manniered, respectful and fun whilst all having unique hobbies and interests. Whilst Agostino and Lucia always helped me and were always there for me. We went to many family events and Christmas carnivals which was amazing. In the weekends I explored cities like Treviso, Verona and Venezia. In summary it was a dream and I’m really grateful to have found such a good family :). In the end I really didn't want to leave! (I was considering taking a longer break from school). Luckily however the next time I come to Italy I will definitely return and do workaway for them.

I volunteered here for almost five weeks and stayed with Mahesh and his family. From the very beginning, I felt like part of their family. They were incredibly warm, caring, and dedicated to making sure I had the best possible experience and could truly experience Sri Lankan culture to the fullest. We made so many beautiful memories together and went on trips that I will cherish forever. The teaching itself was also very enjoyable — the students are curious, motivated, and genuinely eager to learn, which made every day rewarding. Communication was always clear and smooth. Mahesh and his wife Rosemary made sure everything was well organized and that I always felt comfortable and supported. Rosemary is the best cook ever btw, she will make sure your tummy is filled at all times!!! I can honestly say that I now have a Sri Lankan family. Leaving them was painful, but I am deeply grateful for this unforgettable experience and will carry it in my heart forever

When the name Ytsen is mentioned, even after his departure, it still touches the heart of every monastic here. To us, he feels like a companion who has lived alongside us for a very long time—someone devoted to creating every possible good for the well-being of others. He is the embodiment of creativity, discipline, wisdom, independence, and humility. Through his remarkable ability to systematically resolve both software and hardware challenges, we could also see his deep cultivation in the inner, spiritual realm—an area in which he clearly possesses great natural talent. Yet despite his abilities, his humility is truly striking. In his presence, even those without comparable skills could comfortably receive his guidance and help, without ever feeling inferior or discouraged. At every moment, he showed genuine respect for others, and people consistently found confidence through him. His arrival allowed us to truly understand that there are indeed people in this world who are capable of creating limitless possibilities for the benefit of others. I find it impossible to express everything we have come to know about him—he leaves such a deep impression.

We would like to sincerely thank Corinne and Jach for their visit to our home and for all the help they gave us during their stay. We are in a stage where a lot of hard physical work is needed, and they were always willing, present, and committed. They helped us with demanding tasks such as building the earth platform, moving large amounts of soil, and painting the wooden posts with burned oil to protect them from humidity. They did all of this with great care, responsibility, and a very positive attitude. We are especially grateful for how well they adapted to the conditions we are currently living in, always with kindness, good vibes, and a genuine willingness to work and share. Beyond the work, we truly enjoyed the moments of conversation, the shared drinks, and the human exchange that made their stay even more meaningful. We wish them wonderful travels and great experiences ahead, and we truly hope that one day we can visit them in the south of England. Thank you both for everything you shared with us.

Yasmin and Gianluca have truly been two of the best guests we’ve ever had through Workaway. From the very first day, we were amazed by their constant good vibes, positive energy, and joyful attitude. Our home is currently under construction, which means living and working without many usual comforts, and yet they adapted with an incredible and generous attitude. They stayed in a tent and enthusiastically helped with physically demanding tasks, such as digging a very large trench and working on the house platform. They also played a key role in supporting our Almuerzo Milonguero, a tango event that is very special to us, contributing not only with work but also with sensitivity, commitment, and genuine care. In addition, they helped us with photography and video, cleaning, daily chores, and shared beautiful moments playing with our son Ligüen, as well as with our animals: Juana, Arnaldo, and Flora. They were always attentive, collaborative, respectful of the space, and truly supportive in every possible way. They are responsible, thoughtful, kind, and simply wonderful people. For all these reasons, we recommend them wholeheartedly for any project or work experience. We truly hope to welcome them again in our home, which is progressing week by week, and hopefully to meet again in Switzerland in June. Thank you for everything!

We are deeply grateful for everything Lionwl has given. He is a sincere, upright, and wonderfully humorous person. We will never forget the praise we heard from other volunteers—we were told that he was a genius. In time, we came to see that this was truly the case. Because of him, many of the things the meditation center needed were resolved with ease, and we admired every piece of work he offered. He has a strong and solid foundation, both in woodworking skills and in wisdom. Yet beyond his abilities, what touched us most was who he is as a person—quiet, grounded, elegant, and disciplined. Every member of the meditation center felt at ease and comfortable in his presence.More than anything, we wish to say that having him with us was a true honor, and his presence will be remembered with deep appreciation.

I had such a good time at the reserve. Fulmar and her family are incredible hosts who know how to maintain a delicate balance of work, care, play, and rest. For the volunteer work, I cooked a lot, helped with bio construction projects, and cleaned out the nearby canal that provides access to water for the family and their neighbors. I had plenty of time to read and write, to go on hikes, and the kids were always excited to play if I was too. I stayed for the month of January with little trips to Palomino, Minca, and Hatonuevo to break up the weeks. Fulmar was very generous with her time, providing instruction and guidance on how to get where I needed to go. This is an excellent place to stay if you’re looking for nature, a way to contribute to something noble, and an opportunity to meet lovely people.
