Brigitte was an incredible Workaway volunteer in Uganda! She dedicated her time and heart to supporting refugee women and children, bringing so much joy and care to the community. Her compassion and energy were contagious, and we were lucky to have her. Brigitte, you're a rockstar! Thanks for choosing to share your time with us.

I got to spend 2 weeks with Tom, Peter and Nancy during my Christmas holidays and I'm so glad I did. What a great time I had as my first workaway experience. Tom and Peter are two wonderful men, easygoing, kind, thoughtful, I cannot count how many times they told me to make myself home, always up to help with anything I might've needed as well as talking to me about their amazing country which I fell in love with even more after our time together, they would give me interesting facts about so many things such as: life in a farm, winter in such a cold place like Canada (I'm italian and definitely not used to those temperatures but still it was so cool), their lives' experiences, how was being gay in the past and how inclusive everything is nowadays rather than back in the past, politics, Tom's cooking skills, new (yummy) dishes as well as recipes, how recycling works in Canada (which is something I found interesting and innovative since it's very different from my country). I also enjoyed spending time with Nancy, she's got an unique humour, she likes telling jokes, sharing her life stories over and over again, I loved that, she reminded me a lot of my grandparents who I miss quite a bit so it was very heartwarming getting to spend some time with her, birdwatching, drinking coffee and sitting in front of the woodstove. By the way, helping at first and then starting the fire myself was some of the skills I was expecting to gain but I'm so happy I did, I also learned how to properly pronounce the word "wood" which I found out to be tricky for an Italian guy who hadn't never dealt with fire before haha. What can I say about the animals? I LOVED spending time in the barn with them, it was my very first time being in a barn and doing any stuff related to it, even if I sometimes felt like it was too cold for me, I'd go there anyway, to get to know better the goats ,who were pretty skeptical at first (fair enough, I was the stranger haha) but then some of them (special mention to Jackal, Ophelia and Venus) would walk towards me every time I get in the barn, so cute! I spent a lot of time hugging, talking and petting the sheep... (Georgina and Lillian will always have a special spot in my heart), I got so attached to them, such sweet living beings. I could never forget to mention Elmer, the one and only cat that basically begs you for cuddles as soon as you walk in the barn, I have never seen such a sweet and friendly cat. I also spent some time walking the dogs with Tom. Jedi and Jasper are two loyal and cute dogs and even if Jasper didn't feel like doing anything much but lying on her bed (she's getting old, can't blame her) whenever we'd take them out for a walk, I could see her wild soul, loved it. On the other hand, Jedi and I had some sweet cuddle sessions, that dog stole my heart. I could probably never explain how special, unique and formative this experience was but all I can say is that I'm very thankful for the time spent over there, I guess this can really be one of the best workaway place to go to, if you're new to all of this and don't know where to start or if you just want to be in nice farm like theirs, well, this is it. I will be back for sure. ;)

It was a pleasure to welcome Niels and to listen to his piano and singing sessions, very relaxing and beautiful! The kids enjoyed playing with him a lot (and I think it was a shared pleasure ;) and the animals found their best friend. Niels did a great work in the garden (thanks for the stairs, it's really making a difference!) and followed his own rhythm to participate in the tasks we agreed on. Sometimes he would seem a bit lost on what would be next so he needed my guidance and asked for a precise list of tasks which was then efficient. It was very nice to share deep conversations about life, relationships and so on. Thanks again for your smile and presence Niels!

It was such a pleasure to experience life with Dani. He was such a calm, discreet, delicate and helpful person, it didn't take long before we could feel he's part of the family! We are so grateful for the good vibes and help he gave us and we really hope to see him again someday. Thanks again Dani!

It is hard to tell anything about Javi that was not already said in previous reviews. Honestly, those superlatives are not an exaggeration. Javi is very easy-going, attentive, generous and always in a good mood. We still feel that we didn't repay him everything he has done for us. Work is very flexible and tasks are various of any kinds. As a bonus, while working we were able to enjoy the scenery of Santander, the ocean and Picos de Europa. There is a bus stop 5 minutes away by foot, so you can explore nearby villages and the city of Santander if you don't own a car. Javi, hope to see you again once when back in Cantabria.

I had an absolutely incredible time at Pure's farm in Phayao (so much so that I almost didn't leave a review so I could gatekeep it). The balance of work and chill was amazing, with the option to do more working if you wanted (you could really lean into your skills and do the work around the farm that you enjoyed more etc - I love cleaning and organising so took my own initiative to clean the kitchen/toilets/common spaces). And I loved how much free time there was, with the choice of just relaxing in your own room or on the shared hammocks, or hanging out with Pure or the other volunteers playing ping pong or connect 4 or cards. Pure also offered us so many activities we could do, from taking us to his friends' place for a painting workshop to taking us on beautiful yet challenging hikes. I honestly cannot stop raving about this place, and I will definitely be returning.

It was so wonderful to stay with Dave and Maria , they are such kindhearted people and I felt immediately welcomed! They were great at communicating expectations and checking in throughout my stay. Dave is a patient and kind teacher out in the woods, and Maria is lovely to have conversations with. It was a pleasure meeting and sharing space with both of them !

Fiona turned out to be the best house sitter ever. We only met a day before we left but she made quite an impression on me. Smart, enthusiastic, communicative, with clear goals in life and open minded. She took such good care of our cats and the house was all clean and tidy when we got back. She is welcome back any time!

Giada and Sam stayed only a short while over the Christmas/New Year holidays. We had just started the busy season of harvest and watering our veggies and they jumped right into our routine to help. Would highly recommend them as workaway helpers. And of course there was delicious Italian food that came with the help!

My 3 weeks spent at Mark and Maz's will be a main highlight of traveling in NZ. They are both so kind and welcoming, and the work itself is very rewarding and manageable. If you enjoy being outdoors, meeting new people, and having an independent/flexible schedule, you will thrive here. The community they bring together here is something special, and I'm grateful for all the incredible people I met. They are both reasonable and practical people, often lending a helping hand/advice in whatever work they ask, and are always available in you need anything. I helped with the communal cooking and they always made sure we had enough food from the garden and market! You will get the opportunity to meet other travelers here, and the cultural exchange is so much fun to be a part of. Thank you again Mark, Maz, Eva, and Hine for all the great memories, it was a fantastic experience!

Excellent experience with Daria. I'd like to leave an excellent review for Daria, who stayed at our farm while we were away on a trip, after a week together. Her help and company were invaluable, and we felt very fortunate to have had someone as responsible and kind as her. Daria took care of the farm with dedication and affection, and made sure everything was in order. We'd like to highlight her kindness, flexibility, and ability to adapt to any situation. I highly recommend her to any host looking for a responsible and eager-to-learn volunteer. Thank you, Daria, for your excellent work!

What an incredible experience! I spent 3 weeks with Sarah and Manoj's Family and enjoyed every minute. I ended up staying in there mobile camper and loved the cozy space. I spent most days tending to the animals, helping out in the garden, building a fish pond and overall just helping out. I was around during the holidays and felt so included and appreciated during this special time. The surrounding area is stunning and I loved to explore it all on my free time. I would recommend this Workaway to those who appreciate outdoor work and hanging out with some awesome people! Thank you Sarah, Manoj, Zac,Ava and Charlie.

We were on Marco's boat for about six weeks and there's a reason why we stayed for so long :) Helping getting the boat ready to go back into the water was hard work sometimes but a great learning experience. Marco is a very heartwarming guy and we're really greatfull that we got to meet him and build a friendship with him. Thanks to Marco for the amazing time and we're more that happy to come back and ride another rodeo on the ship of all ships, the mothership! Much love Fabio and Jess :)

A life changing experience! This was my first experience with workaway, and it was better than anything I had dreamed! I took quite a leap to leave my job in America to start a new journey, and this was the perfect place to land. The people!!! Elvira, Marco, Luigi, and all the other school staff are simply wonderful! The most kind, welcoming, warm people who make you instantly feel like family. I had more questions than answers when I arrived (I had never taught English before this) but everything was explained and made so easy for me. I have been gone for a couple of weeks now, and I truly miss the staff and the students so so much. From the moment I spoke to Elvira, I knew this was going to be a life changing experience. She taught me so much about not just teaching, but myself, my strengths, and life. I am so grateful. Location is great! 1 min walk from the school & easy walk into Pompei! Nearby train stations make it very easy to go to other parts of Italy as well. Lots of convenient grocery stores and cafes nearby. I felt very safe and supported at all times! You are truly taken wonderful care of. If you’re on the fence about doing workaway for the first time, I cannot recommend this enough!! The three months I spent here were some of the best. I can’t wait to be back!! ♥️

Had a great time here. Leonardo accepted me very last minute, which was very kind. A proper amount of food was given for the stay and they helped me reach the cabin by picking me up and bringing me back, which was very kind. The dogs are very sweet and the accomodation is very pretty. The amount of expected work is very reasonable. The location is amazing. You can easily reach the town by foot from the cabin and take multiple busses there for hikes or others. Thanks Leonardo & Carla !

I’ve spent last September three weeks in Alabama with Daryl and Sara - and Echo the dog and the rest of the common ground community. I had a great stay! We were working in the garden weeding and in the forest to get fire wood - Daryl teached me how to use a chainsaw! In the evening we ate together and had great chats. They are really clear in their communication and making sure you have everything you need to feel comfortable. All the people from the community are lovely and welcoming! And the nature around is amazing, I highly recommend to go on a walk with Nancy, to join the Ukulele class on Sunday and to go to a quakers meeting if you have the chance! Thank you Sara and Daryl :)

I’ve spend 5 weeks at the Hostel. The Hostel is like a Hostel should be - warm, personal and welcoming. The work is mainly reception and cleaning, and to help that the guest have a great experience. I really enjoyed it! The Hostel has activities every week - what is great to connect with people. We were 7-8 Workawayers and worked ~20h/week. So we had enough time to explore the beautiful area and experience amazing things like surfing, diving, camping on the beach - to just name a few of them. Thank you Miguel and the rest of the Team <3
