I'm so so glad that this was my first workaway! Csilla is such a wonderful and welcoming person from the start and it's a privilege to get to know her. The whole family welcomed me so I immediately felt comfortable. Csilla's great cooking gave me an experience of traditional Hungarian food (which i'm going to recreate at home!) and our conversations taught me insightful lessons about sleep and stress relief through yoga and breathing exercises. So even when small things went wrong (like losing my wallet for a short time) Csilla and Zsolti helped me to stay calm and clear-headed. I was also taught archery which I really enjoyed! I noticed that I slept really well while I was there too, and I think this may be a combination of staying active during the day with their energetic younger children, less caffeine and Csilla's expert knowledge of sleep hygiene. I felt so rested and this helped me to get the most out of my brilliant experience in Hungary. I will definitely be taking these teachings into my life at home. Thank you so much to the whole family and I truly hope that one day we will meet again.

Cristobal is a very cool, welcoming guy. We had a really relaxing time here, caring for the land and keeping the house looking nice. We also helped by preparing clay for the pottery wheel. He let us use the wheel too, for our own projects. In our free time we played chess with Cristobal and explored the jungle , seeing monkeys and amazing birds in the trees! We would really recommend staying here if you can!! Gracias Cristobal :)

Mai is a sensitive and free-spirited person. Very collaborative when asked. With good stories to tell, she's quite an artist. Certainly the best voice that has ever graced our cultural space. Concerned with attracting an audience and improving our finances, she also gifted us with her art by making themed stickers for the bakery. Mai cooks very well and makes excellent salads. We will miss you, Mai. Best of luck on your trip!

This was my first Workaway experience and I had some of the best weeks of my life. Silvia was such an amazing host and has made me really excited for my future Workaway experiences. I stayed for two weeks and did lots of different jobs throughout my stay. I painted a deck, did some weeding, and laid out a garden path. For all jobs Silvia provided clear instructions and made sure that I had the appropriate equipment. She helped me out and showed me what to do but then I was mostly left to work independently. Furthermore, I got to stay at the same time as another Workawayer, which was very enlightening as it was my first experience. Over the two weeks I was there, I noticed that Silvia always made it a priority to include us in her plans and to make sure that we got to embrace the local culture. Some highlights include a trip to the local table tennis club, going on a late night safari, and trying out pickleball with the locals. Moreover, Silvia is such an insightful and great person and taught me so much about the Tasmanian people, animals, and environment. She even found me some books to read on Aboriginal people after we’d chatted about the local history. I also learnt how to drive an automatic and cook poached eggs for the first time. Overall, I had such a great time, which cumulated in an amazing camping trip on Maria Island, so thank you Silvia for an incredible experience!

Hunor communicates very well, he is very interested in finding out about the country for future projects and I think he learn't alot about the good and bad of the interior of Portugal rural life. He mainly worked best with us as Hosts. He spent some time with my parents helping them with various job in the garden& making marmalade. We visited the heritage site of Busaco and he tried a silks session with Liz. He is very eager to learn new things. We wish him all the best with his projects.

How to begin to describe the amazing 12 days I spent with Iñaki and Maggie? From the moment I arrived, they welcomed me into their home with open arms. Being around their loving relationship was truly a joy. My work involved helping the couple “let go” by organizing and clearing areas of the house that needed it. We shared many fun moments—home-cooked meals, movie nights, and plenty of good times (highly recommend Iñaki’s salads and soups!). My room was perfect, with a beautiful view of the countryside. The location strikes the ideal balance: peaceful and surrounded by nature, yet just a short walk from the town center and historic quarter. They have a beautiful family, and their sons are easy-going with a great sense of humor—which I absolutely loved. I was also lucky to share sweet moments and meals with Iñaki’s mother, and immediately felt like part of the family. Lots of laughter, great food, and genuine warmth all around. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for all the lovely moments we shared. I truly hope to return very soon. I recommend this stay to anyone looking for a tranquil, warm, and genuinely pleasant experience—an absolutely lovely couple.

Carlos was here in Nov/Dec 2025. Carlos was extremely helpful on all fronts in the household. Our pets came to love him. He walked the dog everyday. He is very good at organising, cleaning and helping with general chores. I had other workaways and he got on well with everyone. He is very good at team work. He helped the other workaways see some of Ireland as he hired a car on days off. I highly recommend him and would welcome him back .

Sofia stayed with us for 3 weeks. She was a great help at reception and has excellent customer communication skills. She interacted very well with other volunteers and our staff. During her time here, we experienced a devastating flood however this did not phase her and she remained very calm and was very helpful during this time. Sofia is very kind and caring, any host would be lucky to have her

What an incredible experience! Pia & Vito are so welcoming - their property is so beautiful and full of life. I will never forget working with the bees, learning about beekeeping, harvesting and jarring honey, and in general learning about farm life. To have had the opportunity to bake my favourite breads and cakes after so much backpacking was a dream, my bedroom was so comfortable, and Pia and Vito are just wonderful people. If you are interested in beekeeping in a beautiful Patagonian setting, this is absolutely the workaway for you!

We had an amazing experience with Natsuko. She takes care of around 15 dogs, and she does it with so much love, dedication, and professionalism. You can truly feel that she has a heart of gold for dogs — she always puts their well-being first and does absolutely everything for them. The place is extremely clean, well-organized, and structured. Everything is clear from the beginning: Natsuko takes the time to explain all the tasks in detail, and she knows each dog personally, their personality, needs, and habits. This makes the work both meaningful and enjoyable. Natsuko is also incredibly kind, funny, and encouraging. During work, she would sometimes order smoothies to motivate and reward us, which was such a thoughtful touch. She prepares breakfast every morning and snacks in the afternoon after work, always making sure everyone feels comfortable and appreciated. Overall, it is a place where you feel respected, supported, and inspired. If you love dogs and want to work in a place that is clean, well-structured, and full of kindness, we couldn’t recommend Natsuko and the place more.

I stayed at Anne and Peter house for three weeks in Januar. the House is very large and everyone has their own space, the atmosphere is welcoming and relaxing. I mainly worked with Peter on the interior wood finishes of the new part of the house and also on the new concrete. In my free time i walked in nature and helped the animals ( i witnessed a lamb being Born) and took relaxing Yoga classes. Thanks Anne, Peter and Stephen for your hospitality. I live near Germany so I'll be coming to visit you. Christian

Em and Grae are relaxed, smart, fun, and highly capable. Having them stay with us made a big positive difference to our daily life. They were amazing with our young kids, and their communication skills really stood out. They both have a great ability to notice what needs doing and step in to help without being asked, which we appreciated immensely. We’re certain they’ll both go very far in life and hope to see them again one day. ❤️❤️

Kayla arrived straight off the plane and bus trip bright, intelligent, energetic, and genuinely helpful, and managed to exceed those first impressions every single day she was here. She brought endless enthusiasm to everything she did, tackled tasks with a great attitude, and asked the best questions, the kind that show curiosity, thoughtfulness, and a real desire to understand the “why,” not just the “how.” What really stood out was her wisdom and maturity far beyond her years and her ability to see the good in everything and take it all in her stride, like the last luggage. We had absolute trust in Kayla, we had no qualms with her using the farm car to get herself around (well… after she’d already survived a Can-Am adventure lol) She is responsible, capable, and completely at ease navigating new situations and we lived hearing her daily adventure stories of the random people she met. We didn't get the best weather during her stay, but that certainly didn't dampen any spirits. Kayla is everything you could hope for in a Workaway. h Hardworking, kind, engaged, uses initiative and a genuine pleasure to have around. She’s honestly lucky we didn’t kidnap her and keep her forever. If this is what 19-year-olds are like, then the future of the world is in very safe hands and it’s looking incredibly bright. We wish Kayla nothing but the very best and know she has an outstanding future ahead of her.

These two are incredible. They completely transformed our property in just two weeks. We now have a beautiful flat area for our baby to play in, and two expertly crafted rock retaining walls. You would never guess it was their first time building rock walls. They were absolutely amazing with our dog, and our 9-month-old baby was obsessed with them both. They were also excellent company for me during some very sleep-deprived days after being up all night with bubs. Honestly, they became my second brain, helping me remember things like where I’d put my keys when I was barely functioning. Highly recommend. Welcome back any time!

This was truly a wonderful experience. I learned so many life skills and met so many wonderful friends here . Elisa is a very warm, kind, and energetic person. During my stay here, Elisa took me many places, let me try a lot of authentic Italian food, and participate in local activities.I love those experiences. In terms of work, Elisa is also very flexible. If the tasks that requires a lot of physical work , then I could able to discuss it with her, and she would let me arrange my own time or methods. I will definitely happy to come back. Thank you Elisa☺️You are wonderful.

I have stayed twice with Ian and his family. Both times have been amazing and I've felt very looked after in exchange for some light house work and gardening and spending time with the family and dogs. I enjoyed trips to the beach with the teenager, the occasional surf with Barb, Op shopping with the other daughter and lots of great conversation and home cooked meals with Ian. Their lovely dogs Koda and Fuji have become like family and I will miss them dearly when I leave Australia soon, they love having a ball thrown around for them in the garden and lots of cuddles and rubs. I have felt very welcome here and had plenty of down time to explore Newcastle and the surrounding areas. We even went to Broken Hill where Barb works away and I got to touch up on my painting and decorating skills helping redecorate their other house out there. If your into gardening then you will love this place as the garden is so beautiful here. Public transport is really reliable here and you can get a direct train to Sydney in only a couple of hours. I really couldnt have asked for a better workaway here in Newcastle and Ive made some good friends.

I loved staying with James and his family! I stayed with him for the month of October and had the best time! He is very laid back and welcoming. His kids are all very kind and funny as well whenever they are there. They also have the sweetest most special dog ever named Ruby who is so snuggly and loves to go for walks (I loved taking her to the beach with Harriet). James and his family were always willing to include me in meal times and we had a lot of awesome dinner conversations and I even got to make some classic American desserts for them to try (Pumpkin Pie for the win). Overall really enjoyed getting to share travel stories and talk about books, space, cultural , and learn more about Australia in such a laid-back and beautiful place! For work, I did a couple of hours of gardening each morning and had the rest of the day to myself to explore the area. He is in such a great spot close to so many awesome beaches and hikes, and there was always something to do. It was really relaxing and the perfect place to be while job hunting/getting settled in Australia. I had my own car which is a must for the location, but if you have wheels, I highly recommend staying with James. Thank you again James for welcoming me into your home!

This was our first workaway experience and Ala & Lyndon were a great introduction to the exchange! We were essentially day volunteers (we did not stay in the onsite accommodation, which is, as stated in the profile, very basic) and came in twice a day: in the morning for cleaning and feeding (7.20-10am) and again in the afternoon (3-4pm) for any second feeds required. We also helped out with tours and other projects as and when was needed. Ala is extremely knowledgeable and helpful with both the dogs and Moalboal in general. Her and her family have done such an excellent job over the last 8 years - thank you for all your hard work! We felt as if we were actually making a difference and that our work was contributing to the dogs wellbeing and the continuing improvements at the shelter. Thanks again Ala & Lyndon! Give our love to Charlie and Puti, and a kiss to Nina!
