I feel extremely privileged to have had the pleasure of Brigitte’s help and joyful company in my home for the past two months. Her wealth of experience gained from her previous work and worldwide travel has enabled her to adapt to almost any situation. She is empathetic, incredibly versatile and fantastic fun.Our shared interest in photography and travel was also a real bonus . She proved herself to be an excellent chauffeur, wonderful cook, experienced gardener, cleaner, etc etc.She uses her initiative to notice what needs doing and just confidently gets on with the job. What more could one need? Brigitte likes warm weather, but despite a spell of unusually cooler temperatures, she remained unfailingly cheerful. She brought her own sunshine here with her warm smile, her positive outlook on life and her vivacious personality. I shall miss her in so many ways and hope we will remain in contact. There will always be a welcome here.Keep on dancing Brigitte!

Kosta was just with us a couple of days but was very willing to pitch in with our gardening / landscaping projects. He got along well with everyone and always volunteered to do the dishes after meals. We wish him well in his travels.

We shared two weeks with this family a few months ago and it was a unique experience during our journey - peaceful, fun, touching and enriching. Their home is a place to slow down, embrace simplicity, reflect and learn. Each day brought something new, shaped by the moment’s needs, with plenty to discover and to help out with. We loved cooking together, walking the dogs, gardening, playing games, crafting with bamboo and helping with social media. Above all, this was a human experience and getting to know them was heartwarming. Being with strangers is not always easy, but their natural warmth and the way they genuinely care about people put us at ease. Somlid generously shared with us his knowledge of bamboo, plants, and the art of living harmoniously with nature. Thanks to him, we did things we’ve never done before! Nina embodies kindness, bringing calm and inspiration to those around her. We could talk endlessly with her. Anou is creative, caring and sharp-minded, always ready for games or lively exchanges. Santi shows openness and boundless imagination, spontaneously connecting with people around him. Not to mention their lovely animals - we miss “der Kuno von Zürich” and all the others. We left with many memories and often think of them, even today we still say “Lumpä” to name a dishcloth. We recommend this Workaway to anyone looking for connection and community. Vielen Dank!!

I spent one month at Karoliina's place, and it was a truly wonderful experience. My tasks included taking care of the dogs, cleaning, and organizing the room. They were simple and I enjoyed them. Karoliina always made me feel comfortable and welcomed, and the people around her were lovely as well. Before my arrival, she kindly arranged the schedule very flexibly, which allowed me to spend time with another Workawayer and made my stay even more enjoyable. The nature in Kilpisjärvi was very special to me. I am grateful for the opportunity to meet everyone and to visit this beautiful place. Thank you so much for everything!

I worked 3 months here from mid December 2025 to mid March 2026. Overall it was a very pleasant experience, the village is cute and beautiful when covered in snow, the hotel itself is very clean and good in shape, the staff rooms were warm and beds very comfy. The managers Hugo and Nina did a very good job and are two beautiful people in general. Overall, the team worked great together the whole time and the work was easy to accomplish. I was hoping to be able to work a little more, the worktime was around 4-5 hours a day, roughly 22 hours a week. Also, the village is a tourist place with many foreingers coming for the winter season (also the hotel guests are mostly foreign tourists) so for me it didn't feel much like Japan at some times. For some people it might be a good point because you can easily access japan life without any japanese skills. In general, it was a great experience for me and I met beautiful people and gained working experience which I am very grateful for. Thank you a lot Nina and Hugo and I wish you all the best for your future life in Japan <3

My stay with Carmel was my first Workaway experience, and I honestly couldn't believe how lucky I was to find such an amazing host! I initially stayed for a month and a half, but after leaving for a week (due to my other plans), I came back again for another two weeks - which really shows just how much I enjoyed being there. Carmel is such a kind, intelligent and welcoming person. From the very first moment we met, she made me feel like we weren't strangers, but good friends. During my whole stay, she really cared about making sure I was comfortable and spent time with me. We went on many wonderful trips together - from a boat trip to a lovely evening by the bonfire with her friends. She always made me feel included. She even booked theatre tickets and organized a trip to an alpaca farm! The work I did was always light and manageable - helping in the kitchen, taking care of the garden, doing a bit of painting, and going for walks with Tobey and Reilly (two of the cutest dogs I know!) Honestly, one of my favourite parts of the day was cuddling with them and watching their hilarious interactions:) . I never felt any pressure regarding the work - everything was very relaxed and fair. I also appreciated the heartwarming people around her - her neighbors Josie and John, her family, and her many (and it's no surprise!) lovely friends. The nature around there is beautiful as well. The house is in a great location, so you can use a bike to explore places. I visited all of the nearby beaches, went sightseeing and enjoyed walks around the city. Also, there is a nice path around the neighbourhood. I often went there in the evenings during the sunset and my God, how beautiful that was! You can hear the cute cows in the fields, smell the grass and flowers , and above there is a blue sky that mixes with red clouds...) Even now (about six months later), I still feel a wave of emotion and miss that time, because it was one of the best summers I've ever had. Spending time with Carmel has given me so much. She showed me how important it is to be open and helpful to others. As I got to know her, I kept discovering all the amazing things she does for people, and it really touched my heart. She is a beautiful example of someone who helps whenever she can, whether it’s for those close to her or for people simply in need... I’d like to thank Carmel once again for such a marvelous experience. I feel incredibly lucky that I had this opportunity. I can only recommend her as a host, because this stay won’t just enrich your language, but your life as well!

This is a very unique place. The surrounding nature is quite amazing; silent woods and still lakes. Cycling through the woods (on the road...) at night from the station was quite an experience! Sounds of animals in the silence, starry skies... wondrous. The team at the Hof are mindful and interesting, oriented toward self-growth. Quite a bit of work on the other hand, 5 hours/day, fortunately one can go at one's own pace. Hari Om, and all the best to all <3

Wow, this one is genuinely hard to write. Octave was an absolutely fantastic Workawayer, teacher, and friend. From the beginning, he brought a calm, thoughtful energy into our home and our school. He helped out around the house without being asked, always with respect and good intention, and he made day-to-day life feel lighter and easier for both me and Kheng. In the classroom, Octave was a natural. He taught in a fun, engaging way and had a rare ability to connect with students quickly. The students loved his stories, his curiosity, and his teaching style, he made English feel alive and human, not like a textbook. He also brought so many interesting topics into conversation, and you could see students opening up and becoming more confident because of him. On a personal level, Octave honestly changed the way I think. He helped me open my mind to the world around us and reminded me what life is supposed to feel like, more present, more curious, more real. Even when our schedules didn’t align perfectly, Octave still pushed through to spend time together, get to know us, and be part of the rhythm of the school. That effort meant a lot. Octave stayed with us for around four weeks, and even then I wish it was longer (seriously). Outside of class, he was great company, kind, thoughtful, and always up for a good conversation. And yes… he’s also a world-class badminton player haha. All in all, this goodbye actually hurts, so I’ll say “see you later,” my friend. If you ever come back to Phnom Penh, please remember you always have a home here with us. Vive les traditions françaises et Octave ! Sauvons les sols !

Dear Özge, Thank you so much for welcoming me into your home and letting me spend time with Timon. Your home is just as warm and beautiful as you are, and I felt so comfortable being there. I’ll always remember this experience with a smile. 💛

Candice was an amazing host - she was clear with the kind of help she needed regarding the current project, in this case - helping with painting the walls and finishing the floor of the new cottage. She was patient and knowledgeable. She made me feel at home for a week and I enjoyed working on this cool project a lot. On the side, I had so much fun getting to know Maori culture and nice local spots around Rotorua a bit more and Candice was very eager to share her knowledge and overall life experience. Would definitely recommend!

I had a wonderful 2 week stay with Cami, Felix, Jana and Frieda ❤️ I felt there like a part of their family, but I also had my own private room and bathroom which I really appreciate. They are such a lovely family, they took me to beautiful places nearby, I was able to borrow a bike and had lovely walks around. As the work I was helping them with settling in their new house, which was really satisfying job and I was enjoying it :) We did lot of painting. The girls are also lovely, we had so much fun together. Thank you so much!

Polina is adorable. She is lovely to have around, and got on very well with all our family and our dog Chai who is going to miss her as much as we do! Polina helped us with lots of tasks around the house including cleaning and cooking. She was very thorough in all her activities, and put in lots of extra effort to get things really nice. She is a very hard worker so keep an eye on her and if she works to hard make sure you give her some extra time off to make up for it! Polina loves to learn new things and had a lot of fun with my daughter learning to use a sewing machine. Ask her to show you the fabulous beach bag she made! Thank you Polina for being so easy to host, for making us lovely meals to eat and for putting up with us all being so crazy busy!!! We wish you all the best in your travels. Anyone who hosts you is very lucky to have you.

I had a great experience with PJ and her family. They were really welcoming and open minded. The work at the farm was really interesting since I haven’t done something like this before and it was absolutely doable. I really enjoyed also the ride to the farm itself. In the evening they cooked for us the most delicious food. And in general PJ and her family created such a nice atmosphere at the hostel. Thanks again for everything!!

I spent almost three weeks at Hiroshi’s place —it was my first time in Tokyo, and it was amazing to get to know the city with the help of a local! I got to visit many museums, restaurants and events that I wouldn’t have had the chance to experience as a tourist, met some locals, and even learned a few Japanese words :) Hiroshi was always very kind and helpful, and he always had great recommendations for places worth visiting. Thank you, Hiroshi!!🌞

I spent a week with Yosuke and Tina at the beginning of March and it was absolutely amazing!! The first night Yosuke took me out to eat ramen and waited for me to arrive even though I got there pretty late (11 pm). They showed me around Tokyo and invited me to eat some really delicious food. Filming videos was very fun, all you have to do is be yourself and say what you notice is different in Japan from your own country and culture! We had a lot of fun together and they taught me a lot of Japanese and about Japan's way of life (table manners are super important!). Overall, I recommend this opportunity to anyone who would love to discover Tokyo while filming some exciting videos with some wonderful people 😁

My friend and I spent a month in wonderful Gomba working at this place. Samuel and his wife, Lucy, are incredibly kind and hard-working people. They will make your stay in Kanoni a wonderful time. The work at the local schools is incredibly giving, and you will most definitely enjoy your stay. The kids are always smiling and want to hug and play with you every single day. Thank you so much to Samuel, Lucy and this place for having us!

I spent 2 weeks with Agnes and Zoran in March. I've got picked up in Jelsa and I was greeted and welcome like an old friend. Zoran said "it's not about the place where you go to but the People" and he is totally right. I feel very grateful to meet you and get to know some of your extra life stories. The mood was very friendly all this time, I enjoyed the conversations and laughs together. We had nice coffee time in the mornings with Zoran, Agnes managed the workdays on the farm and she cooked very delicious and healthy meals every day taking in consideration my milk-intolerance issue. We were on the permaculture farm from 10 AM till 1-2 PM, that is in an advanced state now, we had fresh salad every day. We were pruning the olive trees and then used the chipped green stuff to feed the soil. Finally I've seen a lot in practice of re-generating farming technics. The old town is fabulous with it's narrow streets and stone buildings, everything is within walking and biking distance. Thank you for this classic workaway holiday / bike training / farming experience !!!
