We had the privilege of spending Christmas and New Year’s Eve with Manfred, Melanie, their beautiful family, and a lovely couple of Workawayers to say goodbye to 2025. They made us feel the warmth of a cozy home and a sense of closeness during this special time. We truly enjoyed staying in this beautiful place: walking around the area and having the opportunity to share experiences such as yoga sessions, creative spaces, and very interesting conversations around the table. We wish we could have stayed longer and taken part more in their projects. We wish them all the best, and we feel deeply grateful to Manfred, Melanie, and Chelly 🪻. With love, Bartek and Coni.

Luca is an extraordinary young woman who is kind, smart and spread happiness and joy. Having her at home was comfortable and fun. She is great with communication, has a positive attitude and a lovely personality. She is also an amazing singer and guitar player. So she will make your days sound good. I definitely recommend her ✨

Join a well rounded and sharp bunch of very dedicated dreamers and doers. Very tightly run, but also full of whimsy, you'll be sure to learn and unlearn many aspects of construction. Those with more building skills and those with less are applicable, from what I've seen, they both seem to thrive. For me, this is the result of a mature community culture which persists, and is able to find the best in each volunteer. Be prepared to work hard days (though not long), prioritizing safety and communication. The atmosphere is gregarious and busy, it feels like village life within a 21st century city in the most wonderful way possible. You'll meet some remarkable people and have a great time.

Nina was truly an incredible addition to our team - she went out of her way to welcome guests and encourage group activities. She's not just warm and friendly, she also is extremely proactive and could identify what needed to be done before ever being asked. We can really feel her absence now!!

It was amazing to stay with Milena and Matias. They have became my first volunteers to host from this platform. They are hardworking ,committed and skill full. our children remember their contribution in teaching sports and French language. Generally our experience with this couple was great and memorable.

I honestly wish I could keep this family all to myself. This was my very first Workaway experience, and I can’t imagine a better one. From the moment I arrived, they made me feel completely at home and treated me like part of the family. The room and the apartment were perfect, but what truly made this experience special was the people. Maira gave me so much freedom, yet all I ever wanted was to spend time with her and Munay. Luke and Maira taught me so much about their culture, their way of thinking, and their lifestyle. The island itself is absolutely stunning, and together they made this an unforgettable experience. Truly the best hosts I could have ever asked for ❤️

So I had the experience of working with Ms. Pax and Mr. Ron, and they were amazing hosts. This was my first time doing workaway, and I'll be completely honest, I was extremely nervous and wasn't sure this was the smartest idea, but after staying with them for a week, I knew I made a great decision in a host. Upon arrival, they greeted me with such smiles and hugs and immediately made me feel welcome. They even offered me dinner to eat. They are very welcoming, and they took very good care of me. After long, I honestly consider them my extended family because not only did I feel so safe with them, but I also felt like I was actually part of the family. They fed me, and they always asked me how I was doing and how my day was. Like for my first time doing workaway and being out in the country by myself, they really made me feel welcome, and I so appreciated them for that. Keep in mind that whatever hours you set up with them to do work, they will absolutely work you because they are always busy, so if you say you'll be willing to work 7am to 6pm Monday and Tuesday and would love the rest of the week off, they will accommodate you, but you will definitely work. You get breaks, but whatever your agreed hours are, that is what you are expected to do because work for them never stops, and I mean never. There's always something to do, so if you're willing to work hard but feel that love and support, then this is definitely the place. Once again, I had an amazing time for my first time, and after a while, it just felt like I was with extended family. Pax and Ron are amazing people, and as long as you are not lazy and you're respectful, then you would love to go here.

Lucia, Jakob and their family made us feel welcome from the very first minute. While they were away, we sitted their farm and took care of the animals, which was a really nice experience. We learned a lot about farmlife and got the chance to cuddle quite a few new born lambs. Together with the family we spent the most delicious dinners with interesting conversations, learned how to make candles and soap, played a lot of games with their 3 lovely and funny boys and just enjoyed living very close to nature. Thank you so much, hope to see you soon! 🫶🏼

Camila and Guilherme . Stayed with me for four weeks . It was a real pleasure to meet them and have the pleasure of getting to know them . They are happy positive and brilliant energy to be around . They were just excellent workers and nothing is a problem to them . They learned so quickly and used their initiative to make decisions on their own .If you are lucky enough to have the opportunity to host this couple i strongly recommended it as they simply are the best .looking forward to seeing them again and wish them safe and happy travels .

Where do I even begin? The three weeks at Lukas’s place flew by, filled with cool adventures, engaging conversations, travel gossips, great food, and plenty of board games. Daily life involved helping with shared tasks such as cleaning common spaces, feeding the pigs and chickens, and cooking together, with Lukas and Sarah were always flexible about responsibilities. I had the chance to experience a truly beautiful and authentic Christmas Eve with their family members. They also helped me explore Mattsee and the surrounding areas, making each outing feel unhurried. Their kids are friendly, though a little shy at first, and incredibly energetic, watching them play and move around the house was always a joy. One unforgettable highlight was Lukas guiding me through a brief dip in the almost frozen lake, an experience I won’t forget anytime soon. I truly enjoyed the many board and card games we played together and even had the opportunity to visit their school. Observing the school’s structure and teaching approach was genuinely impressive. Lukas and Sarah are thoughtful, warm, and welcoming people. If you’re open-minded, enjoy meaningful conversations, and are happy to join in games and shared activities, you’ll feel right at home. I wholeheartedly recommend getting in touch with them.

This was a nice stay we stayed almost 2 weeks with the kitties who were great but kept a distance accept Boni he seems to be the leader so me and my daughter(5yr old) spent time with him mostly when he allowed it. This was my first workaday project it was interesting but we left early due to not fully being prepared, but this was great for learning what possible expectations to have for projects. We spent the first night with Manuel he was great and attentive and helpful my daughter thought he was cool and friendly also, and we sat and had dinner with him too.

Florian was great to have around. This was his first workaway stay. No job was to big or small for him. He trimmed our fruit trees, mowed the lawn, did lots of weeding, shoveled stones for our driveway, watered the garden, and looked after our dog when we went away for a few days. What he lacked in skill he made up for in enthusiasm and willingness to learn. He's a good communicator with excellent English and willing to give anything a go.

It was my pleasure to take care of the house and the cooking during my stay. This place has a very good energy. In my free afternoons i was floating in the sweet, warm water in the back of the garden. I learned to cook a tasty feijoada vegana and Marco had some good cultural tips ,which led me to a wonderful place after my stay as well. We had a good steady rhythm in the two weeks i was there. I would recommend this place.

Unfortunately, Tabea could only stay for one week because I had previous bookings. I wished she could have stayed one month or even longer: Tabea is very conscientious, has an amazing work ethic, is a fantastic communicator, and is just fun to have around. We had very stimulating conversations. She explored Golden Bay on my bike after work, met a few of my friends, and got on extremely well with everybody. Whether it was housework, helping with cooking, weeding, transplanting, collecting and stacking firewood, clearing, everything was done to my fullest satisfaction. I am truly sad to see her leave, and I welcome her back at any time.

Pablo y Mire são voluntários excelentes e muito educados. Sempre dispostos a ajudar, calmos e pró-ativos. Gracias amigos,

I spent a very nice week with Rafael and Wilson at his place overlooking the ocean. The work was not demanding at all and walking Wilson was a pleasure. Lots of free time to do your own thing, I birdwatched, put a toe into the ocean and went around the village which is a 20 minutes walk away. Would absolutely recommend!

awesome place to stay if you're wanting to get away from the busy world, put your hands in the dirt, and have a lot of time alone. the hosts nathaniel and diana are so warm and welcoming, and while they also enjoy their alone and resting time, they are very passionate and engaged in interacting with people from around the world, learning new things and sharing their knowledge of languages (nathaniel being a polyglot), permaculture (with both having some education and a lot of trial and error experience with the ecology of their land) and open to sharing their stuggles with chronic illness. work on the land consists of a wide variety of activities, from wood chopping and tree culling to reparing the roof of volunteer caravans and cleaning and organising the toolshed. the work is only 4 hours 3 days a week, so there is a lot of free time, which depending on one's interests can be a good or bad thing; there are many beaches, hiking trails and beautiful scenery very close nearby, but the nearby town doesnt have a lot going on other than hippy cafe's, two vintage stores and live music once a week. other activities can be done with the hosts, including a weekly family dinner, weekly farmers market and brunch morning, weekly yoga, often we went to the beach for surf-skate meet-ups, had a fame or movie night and some local food festivals, which all helped to curate a regular schedule. the camp where volunteers stay is very cozy, and the caravans to sleep in provide a functional escape from the elements while also encouraging one to go out and explore. the kitchen and living space they have built is equipt with everything to make a lovely meal and then store leftovers, with a lot of storage space and a good woodburner to sit next to for the winter months. i stayed for two months and know ive made some life-long connections that i can always rely on :). thank you diana and natalino for this time, i hope to see you again soon !

Eusebio

It was a great pleasure for us to meet Alan and Lara. We helped organize the move to a smaller property. Alan is a big-hearted man who gave us all tasks in small doses... As Alan is an excellent storyteller we really enjoyed the many conversations, shared meals, small teasing and Benny's pranks (a 1-year-old "sheepdog"). The little workshop on how to prune wine was a highlight and we will miss the incredible sunsets we experienced on the farm. Lara and Alan's hospitality was endless. We always felt welcome and very comfortable!!! Thank you for everything.
