I stayed here last December for a couple of weeks, and it was a great experience. Elke is very kind and welcoming. The work and expectations were very clear and very fair. The chores were explained by the other workawayers, but Elke was always there to answer questions. I was also able to ride multiple times during my stay, and learned a lot. There were also many hours of free time, as well as opportunities to fill that time, such as riding, horse care, line dancing, walks, trips to town, and more. The meals were also amazing. Everyone there was very welcoming and inclusive of workawayers, and I would highly recommend this experience.

i spent a wonderful week hosted by meloica and her family. i had an amazing huge room just for myself with a big new private bathroom. the kitchen, really spacious and equipped with everything you need, is shared with other guests or workawayers. the view that you get from the outside patio is just unbelievable!!! you have an amazing view on the mount pelée volcano and on all the hills around. the temperature is great, always couple degrees cooler than by the beach. i really suggest all of you guys to come here to be able to experience a real authentic tropical and adventurous life in martinique. thank you so much again to you meloica and your wonderful family and wish you the best ☺️☺️☺️

Marianne and Christoph couldn’t have been better Workaway hosts if they tried. This was our very first Workaway experience, and we loved every single minute of it. From helping renovate their apartment, to meeting their neighbours and friends, to enjoying there absolutely amazing German cooking, everything about this stay felt welcoming and special. We felt truly at home and learned so much along the way. We started as strangers and left as friends!

Volunteering here was a nice experience and the owner is very chilled. The work was basically participating in all the hostel activities, like yoga every morning, spending time with guests ad organizing events in the evening like going to party's mostly. I had the opportunity to paint a wall in the yoga area which was nice and I liked to worked most of the day on it. So if you like socializing it is a good place to spend time. Hikkaduwa is also a nice place, though a bit touristy for me but if you go a little bit you also find good local places there😊 so all in all it was a good experience to get to know Sri Lankas south coast a little bit more!

Kris was a highly reliable, friendly, and motivated Workawayer. She contributed many great ideas for the creative redesign of the hostel, developed creative solutions to problems, and got along very well with both guests and colleagues. She also integrated herself quickly into the local community and actively participated through various creative projects, including dance workshops. I would welcome her back as a volunteer at any time and can wholeheartedly recommend her as a Workawayer.

Katerina came to stay with us for two weeks and ended up staying for more than a month — which already says a lot. She’s a wonderful person: very kind, friendly, caring, and always willing to help. She supported us a lot with hospitality, from cleaning and preparing the chalets to welcoming guests, and she also offered massages, which everyone loved. Katerina is truly a sweet soul, easy to be around, and quickly became a close friend. We honestly didn’t want her to leave. Her presence made daily life lighter and more joyful, and she connected beautifully with everyone here :) Super recommended — you will not regret hosting her. She’s a great friend, a great volunteer, and a very special person.

I stayed with Sharon and her family for two weeks on their lovely small farm. From the very beginning, I felt extremely welcome and more like a family member than a guest. They are all very open-minded, you can always have a good laugh with them, enjoy deep conversations and you’ll always find an open ear for your worries. They all have big hearts for their animals and take very good care of them. They are passionate endurance horse riders and are happy to share their knowledge and answer any questions. They introduced me to my tasks step by step, without any pressure and explained everything I needed to know. They let me take part in their everyday life and routines and even gave me lifts when needed, which I really appreciated. I really enjoyed being in this very quiet, natural place, surrounded only by the sounds of nature and animals. I truly took them into my heart in such a short time and I will definitely come back 😊

Daichi stayed with us for a month over the summer of 2025. He joined our very diverse group of Cobb Bay family and guests and excelled. Whether it was cleaning cabins, staining cabins, building cabins, going to the dump, cutting brush, minnow trapping, going fishing, or preparing a Japanese meal for us, Daichi was a willing participant! He wasn't afraid to try new things, either. Those long ATV rides were a joy! Sitting on the coffee deck in the mornings with Grandpa Jim and other guests enjoying a coffee, watching the sun rise, telling stories, and writing in his journal were some of his favorite things I think. He was welcomed and well loved by all who interacted with him. His friendly demeanor was an asset to our business and family, and we are so happy that he joined our craziness. We'd have him back any time he wanted to return. We wish him the best always!

Ruslan is a man with years of experience working on farms and possesses a large, comprehensive knowledge of natural relationships, gardens, fruit trees and much more. He spent 3 months here at the farm in the summer of 2025 and proved to be a very good and patient trainer in his work with less experienced helpers. Thanks to him, several small projects could be implemented. For the past few years, children from the surrounding area have been coming to the farm for their summer holidays in July. Ruslan, for example, made campfires with them and showed them how to do each step. He fed the cows together with the children or helped them build huts out of branches in the forest. We took a lot of time to discuss the many topics that we shared a lot of interest in. He is the perfect man on a farm with a lot of special knowledge and skills and I highly recommend him. Thank you, Ruslan, for your wonderful help and all the little creations that you made that will remind us of you. All the best for the future! Gabriele

This was my first volunteer experience, and I didn’t know what to expect. However, thanks to Alice’s openness and positive energy, I adapted very quickly. The whole shelter / mini zoo is a wonderful place where you can truly experience what it means to work with animals and nature. I will try to describe my experience as a new volunteer. Work: At the beginning, it may seem like there is a lot to remember, but after just two days everything becomes clear. Working hours are from 8:00–11:30 and 16:00–17:30, although sometimes you may finish earlier or later, depending on the tasks assigned by Alice on a given day. Daily work mainly consists of feeding the animals and cleaning their areas. Accommodation: Volunteers have access to two campervans and one small wooden house. I stayed in the largest campervan. The camper has electricity, Wi-Fi, and lighting. The sink and water are outside near Alice’s house, as well as the toilet and the shower (with hot water). It is worth mentioning that there is no heating in the campervans or in the wooden house. Food: Alice provides basic groceries such as pasta, bread, vegetables, and fruit. Water is provided in bottles that Alice fills and filters herself. In the evenings, Alice usually prepares a warm dinner. It’s also worth mentioning that Alice is vegetarian, so products like meat are not provided. In summary, I truly believe it is worth coming here and helping Alice with her wonderful project. There are so many amazing animals here (Nina, Olaf, Gavino, Jerry, Junior, and many, many others). You will definitely learn a lot about animals. Of course, Alice and Giuseppe are wonderful, warm people who will help you as much as they can. Another big plus is that Alice’s home is located just a 15-minute walk from the town of Olmedo, where I also met many great people I will never forget. One thing to keep in mind is that if you come during the winter period, the nights are cold and it often rains. For staying warm at night, you are provided with two blankets and two hot water bottles. Thank you, Alice and Giuseppe.

Had a precious time here!! Really enjoyed the laughs, the nice meals together, the good workflow, hiking together, swimming in the river and listening to goooood music. Tim is an amazing person with a relaxed, natural, generous and a very funny personality. He gave me freedom and responsibility in the work I did. Beside that Tim encouraged me to work on something I liked. There was a very nice workflow between everyone. Although we were busy with all different tasks sometimes, it felt like we were really a team and all happy to contribute to this beautiful place.

Wo Johannes hilft geht was vorwärts. Du bist jederzeit willkommen! --- Johannes is a wonderful person; he's integrated very well into our family. He's been a great help to me on our farm, reliably and quickly completing many tasks that had been waiting for a long time. After a short briefing, he carried out his duties independently and thoroughly. He chopped wood, did basic electrical work, helped build a roof, cared for the animals, repaired fences, worked with the tractor and quad bike, and much more. He was also very interested in the region and explored it in his free time. Where Johannes helps, things get done. You're welcome anytime!

If you are able to, this workaway is a must do!! Staying with Krisztina made me feel like a princess with her beautiful garden, delicious food, and the stunning volcano/lake view I got to see instantly after stepping out of my room in the morning. Her dogs are beautiful and very funny little characters I will miss them so much and really hope I can see them again! Walking them was much more a pleasure then a chore because they are so well behaved and the nature we could experience with them was breathtaking. Afterwards it would follow with a simple task like doing some dinner prep or grabbing some produce from town. Krisztina is lovely to talk with during dinner, and I cant think of a single complaint if I tried. Coming here will be a highlight in my life ill cherish forever. Thank tou Krisztina 🩷🩷

I do not have enough words to express my gratitude for the great support I received from Kerry and Simon. Both of them made my first experience in Perth feel truly like home. I spent two and a half months assisting Simon, during which I gained valuable experience learning to drive trucks and operate a forklift, working closely with vehicles and engines, and using hand tools on a regular basis. There are very few people as generous and kind as they are. Thanks to Kerry, I also had the opportunity to discover the most important places in Fremantle, enjoy meaningful conversations, and share discussions about music and food from different cultures. Unfortunately, I had to leave Perth, but I sincerely hope to return and see them again in the future.

Anybody who has Joel as a volunteer will be so lucky. Joel is a very kind, responsible, and honest person, and having him around was truly a big help for me and for the sanctuary. He never refused to do anything and was always ready to help, no matter the task. He is someone you can really count on — always on time, reliable, and with a great attitude. There were never any bad surprises with him, only positive ones. Joel was originally supposed to stay for 5 weeks, but in the end he stayed for 3 months, which already says a lot about the kind of person he is and how committed he was. We are very sad to see him go, but unfortunately the visa situation in Thailand did not allow him to stay longer. For me, it is extremely important to have people I can trust with my animals, and with Joel I felt completely at ease. I could fully depend on him, and that means a lot when you run a sanctuary. I wholeheartedly recommend Joel to anyone looking for a volunteer. He is a wonderful person and a real help to have around.

Georg adapts very well and enjoys interacting with everyone. He is very polite, simple, communicative, friendly, responsible, autonomous, independent, creative, hardworking, and efficient. He accepted all the new challenges with his friendly and spontaneous beautiful smile. He fixed more than 10 bicycles, organized the tool shed, and helped with household chores. This was all in just a few weeks. He was kind enough to leave his space very clean and organized. Georg will always have a place in our project!

These boys were a pleasure to host . We generally host a lot of people every year. And these boys were one of our best. They came at the end of the season which is usually less exciting and they helped keep the camp up beat and interesting. They have great communication skills and are very easy going . They know how to appriciate the experience for what it is . Always ready to help and always happy to have a conversation. 😊
