Xuezhen is very hard-working. Her main project whilst she was here was to help build a new path connecting the upper and lower gardens. She tackled this work with infectious energy and enthusiasm, which carried her fellow Workawayers along to produce amazing results. She’s an excellent judge of character and has great people skills. I got the impression that she was able to help her workmates develop greater self-awareness from being around her, which is a real talent. Xuezhen is originally from China but has lived in Europe for several years and studied at a French university. So she is equally comfortable in both cultures, East and West, and was able to provide us all with some interesting insights. A hard worker, a charming person and a great Workawayer. Thoroughly recommended.

My experience on the farm was so good. I stayed for a month and met many wonderful, interesting people from all over the world, especially other long-term travellers and return volunteers. There was always something fun going on in the house: board games, bbqs, move nights, language lessons, meditation, baking cakes, football matches, hikes, the list goes on... The work was well organised and varied, e.g. collecting cabbages, packaging veggies, planting seeds, picking kale/chard, working in the storage, collecting slugs, and feeding the lovely animals. Living with ~25 others is overwhelming at first and sometimes a bit much, but the positives so, so outweigh the negatives (mainly bathroom queues!). My only heads up for anyone considering a stay is that there are a few very sweet cats living in the house, so if you have allergies, come stocked-up with meds. I learned the hard way! Thank you Berk, Murad, and especially Berk, for keeping everything running smoothly and being such fun, approachable, and warm managers. I hope to be back soon!

Ever since we first got in touch about housesitting, Mascha and Henk have been incredibly attentive and kind. We spent ten days looking after their animals—the adorable Tuty and Tony—as well as their chickens and the plants in both the greenhouse and the garden. During our stay, they were having a water well drilled, so we made sure to keep an eye on things and help out with whatever was needed there too. The place is simply stunning. Between the nature, the views, and the peace and quiet, our time looking after the home and the pets was truly a wonderful experience.

Selma was great to have around, hard working, always smiling even on rainy days. Selma took very well care of all animals, was very proactive and always ready to help. She baked some great cakes, which made the winter days a bit more cosy. We really enjoyed her spirit and positivity, it was always nice talking to Selma. Our house will be always open for a next visit ;-)

Although I was only able to stay with Catherine for a week, it felt much longer to me. She welcomed me warmly and shared her little oasis of peace with me. She lives a very simple life in a small wooden cabin that blends beautifully into the natural surroundings. Many adorable little animals live on her property. I spent most of my time pruning pine trees, removing certain bushes, and helping with preparations for planting the vegetable garden. She has an incredible amount of knowledge and loves to share it. Thank you so much for that. We went on a lovely day trip that included a hike. We ate together for lunch and dinner, chatted a lot, and she told me many wonderful stories from her life. It was a truly wonderful experience for me. Thank you, Catherine

Here’s a polished and heartfelt version of your message, keeping your warmth and voice: ⸻ We feel incredibly lucky to have had Jack stay with us for four months. He is well-mannered, hardworking, and so easy to get along with. We truly enjoyed our time together and were very sad to see him leave. Our four-year-old daughter felt completely comfortable around him — he was like a big brother, always looking out for his little sister. During my pregnancy, when I was dealing with severe morning sickness, Jack learnt to cook Chinese dishes and making nourishing bone broth for me. After learning that he used to work as a masseuse, we paid him to massage my swollen feet, which was an absolute lifesaver. Jack also built a treehouse and an obstacle course in our backyard — something the children will cherish for a long time. He is truly a jack of all trades and always willing to lend a hand with anything around the house. He’s also incredibly clever and shows interest in learning new languages. Thank you so much, Jack, for the time you spent with us. We are so grateful and will always remember it fondly.

Celina was an absolute joy to host, and her stay with us in Mutare was truly special. From the very beginning, she showed great initiative and a natural sense of responsibility. She always noticed by herself when something needed to be done and took care of tasks without needing much guidance. She supported us with daily work like ironing, organizing, and general household tasks with care and reliability. One of the highlights of her stay was when she introduced us to Polish cuisine. She taught us how to cook traditional Polish specialties, which was not only delicious but also a wonderful cultural exchange we all really appreciated. Celina also connected beautifully with our dogs – she clearly loves animals and took them on long walks, which they absolutely enjoyed. Beyond her help, she was simply wonderful company. We shared many meaningful and interesting conversations, and her presence brought a warm, positive energy into the house. Celina is a kind, attentive, and inspiring woman, and we feel very grateful to have met her. She will always be welcome here again. I can wholeheartedly recommend her to any future host.

Our stay in Lakxao was an unforgettable experience — challenging, enriching, and deeply human. In terms of work organisation, mornings were dedicated to construction work to expand the school, while afternoons were spent teaching English to the students. We had the opportunity to work with almost every group, which gave us a better understanding of the school's daily life. The students won us over completely because warm, curious and full of life. Real bonds formed naturally despite the language barrier, which made the whole experience so much more meaningful. Living alongside the host family added another layer to this immersion, giving us a genuine glimpse into local daily life. The trip to the market with Peter's wife is one of those simple yet unforgettable moments we will carry with us. A demanding experience, but a highly rewarding one. Thank you so much Peter for your warm welcome !

What was originally gonna be a stay of 2 weeks or less, became over a month long visit. Vicki, Allan and the kids welcomed us warmly with open arms, and we very quickly fell into the pace of life where we spent our days feeding and caring for the many animals, playing and adventuring with the kids and making friends with hosts who quickly turned into family and that we will love for our lifetimes. We even managed to work together to come up with a reality show idea that will showcase life and family and homesteading adventures in rural New Brunswick and that we will work together to get to air sometime in the near future! we learned how to tap maple trees for sap to make syrup , care for pigs and goats and chickens and even helped nurse sweet Lizzy (the wonderful donkey) through a rough patch of colic which was terrifying at first, but so very satisfying and joyful when she was back to her old self and she is now ready to be star of the show! My Wife Brought home a Donkey will be something that will connect us for the future and we can't wait to get back to visit our now extended family. Thank you guys for welcoming Ronnie, Lucy and I and making us part of your home and family, we will NEVER forget the kindness and fun we experienced with you guys until the "boatofus" get back....haha

Staying with Linda was a wonderful workaway experience. From the very first minute she picked me up at the airport I felt very welcome and that didn’t change once I got to her home. Linda is a very warm-hearted person, full of good energy. During my stay, I helped with shoveling snow, cooked a few times, and assisted with smaller tasks here and there. At the same time, Linda gave me plenty of free time, which I really appreciated. I especially enjoyed the time we spent together at the dining table, talking about her work, her great sewing skills or discussed upcoming travel plans. During my stay I slept in a cozy room upstairs where I felt very comfortable and I also enjoyed having her beautiful, beloved cats Coco Puff and Yoda Bear around. ;) Lindas house is perfectly situated to explore Toronto and the surrounding area. Public transport is nearby, and I also loved going for walks along the river close to her home. When I continued my travels after two weeks, Linda even made it possible for me to come back and stay with her again for a few days before my journey back home. Thank you so much, Linda. I really enjoyed my time with you!!😊

I spent 2.5 weeks with Elizabeth, Michael and their kids at the beginning of November. It was my first Workaway experience during my trip to Canada and I couldn’t have asked for a better one! Elizabeth and Micheal are warm-hearted, friendly and welcoming people, their children are cheerful, smart and fun to spend time with. I worked about 4 hours a day, mainly on household tasks, and Elizabeth always clearly communicated what needed to be done. A few times I was asked to look for the kids which in the end was more fun than work. I really enjoyed playing board games with them or going on a fun shopping day with Maddy. Elizabeth and Michael always let me know when they were going out by car and kindly offered me rides which allowed me to visit downtown several times during my stay. I particularly appreciated that Elizabeth took me to various hiking groups which was a wonderful way to meet locals and get to see more of the area. It was also a special experience that the family took me to a neighborhood Christmas party. In addition to that in my free time I loved going on walks in their village - a truly beautiful place with breathtaking views on the sea. I would love to come back one day. Thank you so much, Elizabeth, Michael, and the kids, for your hospitality - I had a great time!

Gracias Carlos! :)

We didn't expect this week to leave such a mark on us. 🫶 In the classroom, teacher Lin gave us everything we needed to take charge of our students from day one. We had two groups all week : one in the morning for a 3 hours class, and one in the evening for one hour. Keeping the same students throughout the week made all the difference. We truly got to know them, and honestly, saying goodbye at the end was hard. Sokear and her family made us feel at home before we'd even unpacked. We shared every lunch and dinner together, and every night Sokear or Lin escort us back to our guesthouse right next to the school. We were also lucky to be surrounded by three amazing fellow volunteers. We quickly became a real crew, explored the area together, and immersed ourselves in the local culture... Memories we'll both carry for a long time. We've done several Workaway experiences, but this one is by far the best. Go for it, you won't regret it. 🇰🇭

I met clarissa and Darrell in a stressful time, while they just took over a new property! Both were passionate about their new project and couldn't stop thinking and dreaming about future ideas. When I volunteered with them my tasks were mostly cleaning, tidying up and I teached yoga. The tasks hasn't been clear and the week I spend with them felt quite unorganized for me. We've been a group of 7-9 volunteers, who all stayed together in the "main" property together- such a great community ! we had some problems during the week ( no running water, missing supplies ( soap, toilet paper...) no electricity at all ) because nobody got introduced to the property and how the systems are working. the nature and the surroundings of the jardin were incredible; close to nature, lots of wildlife, disconnected from everything else than nature! I loved that! all in all I'm grateful for my stay and I could learn a few things. at the same time I found the hosts sadly stressed and agitated during my stay and it gave me mixed energy vibes in total! both have a good heart and I appreciate what I've got ! thank you !

I stayed at Ole's Farm for 3 weeks in December. The experience was positive despite the weather not helping during my stay. His farm is immersed in a place where nature reigns supreme, near a lake and surrounded by forest, truly incredible for nature lovers, with beautiful trails for exploring the area and getting some exercise. 🌲🍄‍🟫🪶 Ole is a kind guy with a great sense of humor and with whom you can talk about many different things like psychology , society, nature, actuality and many others. He and his family were very hospitable to me, and even though I'm a shy person, in a couple of days they made me feel welcomed and part of something. I had the opportunity to learn many things about Norwegian culture and the art of DIY, of which Ole is a great master, willing to explain several times if necessary. During my stay with him, my main tasks were taking care of the sheep and building a TV stand for his living room. I helped clean and tidy the house daily, and somedays I cooked some delicious Italian dishes for them. I will always hold Ole, his family, Ienta and Niko (his lovely dogs 🐶 ), and my sleeping buddy Noodles (his cat 🐱 ) in my heart for giving me the opportunity to have such a wonderful experience. I hope to be able to visit them again ♥️
