Description
Join us in celebrating vibrant traditions and artistic expressions while contributing your help at the hostel.
My name is Christa, and I've had a deep connection with Zimbabwe since 1985. For the past years I've been running a unique ART lodge with my dedicated team. Although we're still small, we're on the path to growth. Currently, we have two full-time workers, Unity and Oliver, who are an incredible couple. Unity handles housekeeping and food, while Oliver takes care of house maintenance and the garden. Additionally, Tawanda assists part-time with guest organization and lodge marketing.
Our guests range from international backpackers and adventurous, young-at-heart travelers to local residents who appreciate our art-inspired lodge. Renowned for our healthy, homemade cuisine and personalized care that creates a home away from home, we strive to be there for our guests whenever they need us. Additionally, we offer tours around the Eastern Highlands to further enrich their experience.
Nestled in the heart of Mutare, our Backpacker hostel provides an authentic African experience. Through collaborations with local artists, we host monthly events, celebrating the vibrant talent of our community.
In addition to managing the hostel, I also oversee a non-profit organization in a nearby township. Our organization operates a kindergarten, a school, and a women's cooperative, serving the local community. Through education and empowerment, we aim to make a positive impact and foster change in the lives of those we support.Types of help and learning opportunities

We seek volunteers who approach their work with a smile, embrace cultural exchange with an open heart, and are eager to collaborate with our team. Your commitment to punctuality and being in the right mindset is vital for the safety and well-being of our guests. Your commitment to following these guidelines helps us create a warm and inclusive atmosphere, fostering cultural exchange and personal growth. We truly appreciate your understanding and dedication to maintaining a friendly and enjoyable environment for all.
While fulfilling your responsibilities is important, we also encourage you to enjoy your time with us and have fun. In exchange, we provide a supportive and welcoming environment where you can develop, forge connections, and expand your horizons. By becoming part of our team, you'll not only get to discover the beauty of Zimbabwe but also make a meaningful difference in the community.
