I had a great time! Itai and his family are really kind and welcoming. The caravan where I slept is realy comfy as well. We worked on Itais cabin project and made good progress. I had many nice conversations and learned a lot. The homecrown vegetables and the homemade foods are incredibly tasty! I felt at home and it didn't feel like work at all. Would be happy to visit again. Thank you!

My kids and I stayed for a week with Yuvraj, Radha and Sarpanch :) Yuvraj accepted us with open arms and communication before arriving was very warm, easy and helpful! Yuvraj came to pick us up at the train station when we arrived at night :) You can tell from the first moment that Yuvraj has a kind heart, beautiful soul and creative mind! His project is so inspiring and beautifully executed. I was in awe seeing what had been done and amazed with all the beautiful ideas yet to be put into place. It really is a little paradise! Radha was so nice to us and both her and Yuvraj are amazing cooks. We ate so well during our stay. And the house and room were very confortable :) On the farm, we helped with eco construction of the pizza oven and finishing a bench. Was so much fun :) We also painted a mural on one of the structures :) We really enjoyed the tasks and working hours were very flexible. We simply felt in love with the village of Sureli! People were so kind and encounters were all magical. Also we were there during Holi and had so much fun for 2 days! The river is a very peaceful place to go at the end of the day. Loved everything there! We have put 4 stars only because we are used to sharing with our hosts on workaways. This might be our favourite thing and it was missing on this one. Despite Yuvraj impeccable kindness, we didn't share a lot with him. Thank you for everything! <3

I stayed at this hostel for 3 weeks and had an amazing experience. I worked on reception which I really enjoyed because it helped me meet new people, learnt something new and brought some routine into travel life. Lucky is a great host who really looks after both volunteers and guests and has created a very social and welcoming place. There are great daily activities organised, and double points if you enjoy surfing, or would like to learn. I made some great friends here and it felt like a little found family for a while. I highly recommend this hostel and thank you again Lucky for the experience! :)

Zoe stayed with us for approximately three weeks. From the beginning of her stay, communication with her was smooth and easy, which we greatly appreciated, as this can sometimes be a challenge with volunteers. She actively engaged in our activities and enjoyed spending time with our guests, contributing positively to the overall atmosphere. Thank you, Zoe, for your support and effort during your time here. We truly appreciate volunteers who give their best.

Susanna spent a week with our community and immediately became a part of it. It was a great joy to share our daily life with her. We especially remember her Italian cooking, skillfully adapted to the improvised and limited Laotian conditions. The children really enjoyed playing with her. Susanna was a great help to all of us. She is a wonderful, creative, and delightful person. Many thanks for all your effort and dedication!

Pepijn stayed with us for nearly three weeks, supporting our team by managing our social media, particularly Instagram. He brought along high-quality camera equipment and contributed creative ideas that added great value to our content. I truly enjoyed working with him during his time here. In addition to his skills, he has a great personality and knows how to engage and entertain people, creating a positive atmosphere around him. Thank you, Pepijn, for your support. We always appreciate volunteers who give their best

I had an amazing time in Rovaniemi, Finland, with Chris' help! Chris is very kind and easy to communicate openly with. The work is pretty flexible most of the time, so I had ample free-time for my own plans. Many days I also did activities with Chris, he is very spontaneous which worked well for me to just tag-along day-to-day. Work was mostly help with his renting accommodations for other guests, some tidying, and general odd-jobs around the house. I also designed and painted a mural in Chris' home which I think he was very happy with, and someday I would be happy to return to do another! The location is beautiful and peaceful, 20 minute walk into the town in one direction, and quick access to nature in the other, with Chris' home set up as a little community on Rovaniemi's edge there was always a few different people around, and multiple different rooms that host visitors. I enjoyed cycling, nature-walks, skating, aurora borealis and quiet time in the snow, many of these plans helped by Chris' suggestions. We had many great conversations and I'll be very happy to see him and the other people I met through his community again, either in Rovaniemi or elsewhere in the world! This workaway is perfect for somebody who isn't afraid to live moment-to-moment with flexible plans, who enjoys nature, communal living, and who is good at open communication.

I spent a beautiful 2 weeks at the finca. The work was very manageable - projects included sanding down a mirror (to be painted in the future), weeding the garden and painting the ceiling. As I have a background in tech, I also built a website for their coffee business. The food was absolutely delicious, prepared by the amazing Natalia. Her son Santiago provided endless joy, and I enjoyed chatting to Diego who works on the farm as well as socializing with other volunteers who arrived in my second week. The location and finca nearby Pijao in the eje cafetero is stunning. The views are truly spectacular and there are lots of small towns and places to visit nearby away from any big tourist crowds. I was also welcomed by Andrea and Carlos who are in charge of the finca and visit a few times per week. They showed me around in their jeep and gave an informal coffee demonstration. I also met Gloria whose home in a separate town I was lucky to be able to visit. Communication was at times a little vague, and I was missing some overall direction - expectations, plans and schedules were never discussed and the original profile was outdated (although I’m glad to see it’s now been updated). I was told on my second day we’d be painting the house but I wasn’t able to actually begin until a week later. Things didn’t always seem very prepared. However, I found things like weeding the garden to do and generally had time to enjoy the tranquil setting. My overall experience on the finca was very special - thanks Gloria & Andrea for everything ❤️ Annie

My 2 weeks stay at Daniel's house was okay, The house is a beautiful place located in the city center. Did many hours lots of weeding in the garden, planted some plants, clean-up outside the house and in the kitchen, made orange-and lemon juice. Meals were served a few times, communication could definitely be better, rooms (some shared) spartan furnished. There is still potential for optimization.

Our Workaway experience in Latacunga was fantastic! Vero is an excellent host--she showed us around town, introduced us to some delicious Ecuadorian specialties, took us to the museum, and gave great recommendations to make the most of our two weeks in Latacunga. We had so much fun with her and her family. The school is well-organized, with a fully designed curriculum which is easy to follow. We enjoyed getting to know the students, who were eager to learn and respectful. Our teaching schedule allowed us to explore in the mornings and on the weekends. We were able to visit Cotopaxi, Quilotoa, Quito, and Baños. We appreciated having our own apartment that was close to the school, shops, and restaurants. Our time in Latacunga was a nice mix of teaching, exploration, and cultural exchange. Thanks for the opportunity!

Volunteer here if you want a chance to feel loved by Dani, her team and all the amazing animals! We really enjoyed our time here and everyone helped us to feel so welcome. The volunteer cabin is so cozy and we enjoyed staying with our 3 new amigos (Candy, Pancho, & Tomate). They were lovely dogs to stay with and each had their own brand of cuteness. There were also so many friendly pups we got to take out everyday and get to know. Some like Dominga were big, lanky, and gentle; resting her paws so gently on your shoulders when she wants to be stroked. We also loved the squat & strong, Oso, who was always so unproblematic and calm despite being such a heavy dog! We even discovered a budding romance between Oso and Dani’s Dad’s dog Linda! There was also the pack at Dani’s house where we spent many an evening being covered by at least 6 different dogs vying to be the one sat on the lap. If you like dogs this Workaway will be a treat for you! We worked mainly with Ignaçio (Nacho) who was super fun and kindly helped us to improve our beginner Spanish throughout the 2 weeks! He also patiently helped with our pronunciation and let us practise our newly learned idioms. The walks were always fun and we used the time to listen to audiobooks in Spanish. Gardening was fun and it was nice to be able to spend some time with the horses each evening - something neither of us had much prior experience with! All in all, this Workaway was a super amazing opportunity. We got to hang out with lovely dogs all day and take them for walks, and then had the afternoons to practice a little Spanish, have a siesta, and then work for an hour or two in the evening. It hardly felt like work at all! We will have this as a highlight of our 6 month trip to South America and will remember fondly all the time spent with the dogs and the people that made the time great! Adios! Muchos gracias!

I've been living with Leif and Nanaco fot about 3 months in winter 2025/26 I was helping with tasks like snow clearing, cleaning and preparing the Airbnb for new guests, making firewood, drove away the garbage and some other smaller tasks, whatever needs to be done. the work is usually pretty flexible. depending on how much it snows, the work can be more or less, but in the end, it is always fair. It was my 1st real experience in hospitality and it was cool to see how it works and learn new things. also, I got plenty of time to go skiing. I bought a season pass for Myoko area and went more than 30 times. usually skiing in the morning and a bit of work in the afternoon. I got my own little cabin to stay in. a cute little house surrounded by nature. although it can become pretty cool at night, but that's not a problem at all. you have several heating devices like a great firewood stove which warms up the room pretty quickly. also some other kerosene heater for the nights and for the bathroom. If you wanna experience life in a quiet, rural area, surrounded by nature and love snow, then it's the perfect place for you. Leif and Nanaco are really nice people. super friendly and supportive. and their one year old daughter Mileï is super cute as well. I had a great time in Myoko and I'm glad I got the chance to spent the winter there. Thank you Leif and Nanaco for the opportunity to stay the winter with you in Myoko. 😊

Frank and I had a wonderful three week stay with Vicki and Chris this summer. The work is a great mix of simple tasks you can get on with independently and more interesting projects working with Chris. The hours are fair, communication is fantastic and there’s a lot to explore in the surrounding area. Vicki and Chris are infinitely welcoming, kind and generous hosts, we felt very at home and enjoyed their company. Thanks both for everything :-)

There are already many reviews about how wonderful people’s experiences have been with Dai and Sarah—and rightfully so. So instead of repeating what’s already been said, I want to share a few qualities of my experience that perhaps haven’t been mentioned. This was my first Workaway, despite having volunteered extensively in Latin America by directly connecting with local places. Here’s how my time here felt— This is a truly special place that captures both the energy and stillness of the traditional Japanese countryside. The way the wind moves through the valley, the quiet in the air, the sounds of birds and the nearby river, and the presence of towering bamboo—it all feels ancient. What photos don’t fully capture is the depth of passion woven into every corner of this space. Dai created this beautiful guest house, and along the way, discovered a deep love for bamboo—among many other things. Having the opportunity to work alongside both Dai and Sarah, and to witness the care and intention they pour into this place, was something truly meaningful. There’s a quiet harmony in how they each show up—a kind of yin and yang. Dai brings an enthusiastic, expressive energy, while Sarah carries a grounded, steady presence. One of my favorite moments was asking Dai, while we were building a fence in the garden on one of my last days, what he would choose to do if he weren’t here at this place. His answer was simple: bamboo. Thank you, Dai and Sarah, for being a part of my journey—for the delicious home-cooked meals, the shared moments, and the warmth you bring into this space. Many blessings

My stay here was an experience I will carry in my heart. I stayed with Diogo for 2 and a half weeks and the stay was very relaxing, educational, fun and cozy.I felt very comfortable from the very first day and Diogo is a very warm, generous and friendly person, just like everyone there around the community. The work at the farm was minimal. We were planning some structure for a future permaculture course and had a cleaning day once a week together. The work was done together and it was more like educational moments rather than work. I really loved the collective lunch we had every day. We planned, prepared and ate a delicious and nutritious lunch together every day. Everyone’s needs and preferences were heard and being the only one with a vegan diet was no obstacle for sharing meals. I shared the cute Casinha with 3 other volunteers and had a lot of freedom and spare time, which I enjoyed doing my own things or chilling with other volunteers. I got to experience a very special activity, when we got to visit a local Capoeira practice and also participate. We also visited another farm where we took part in a yoga class. This is a beautiful and relaxing place in the nature and easy to find everything needed from the village just near by. I can totally recommend, thanks for everything <3

Sayaka was a joy to host, and we welcome her back any time! She helped with numerous gardening, cooking, and cleaning tasks while staying with us. Her positive attitude and eagerness to pitch in for any needed task is admirable. I am excited to hear how Sayaka's homestead in Japan develops! Thank you for hanging with us for a few weeks!
