    Description

*We have ever-changing schedules which means it's best to contact us within a few weeks of when you want to stay
*We usually host for 1-2 weeks but can be flexible

We're Jamie and Adam, originally from the UK, we're now living on Vancouver Island in a small village called Youbou with our two dogs. We recently bought our first home to run partially as a holiday rental. The house is in finished condition but our acre of land needs work. We have previously used Workaway.info whilst travelling South America and have had nothing but positive experiences! We've been hosting during 2019 and having a lot of fun so far!

We both work from home and will be busy sometimes so some of the labour may be solitary.

We moved to rural BC for a quieter lifestyle. The benefit of spending time at our place is to relax and take in the views of the lake, and enjoy the hiking/boating/fishing as well as cultural events that the wonderful Cowichan Valley has to offer.

    Accommodation

We have an apartment suite which you will share with other workawayers from around the world! We will try to give you a private room, but solo travellers may have to share a room. You also get your own bathroom and kitchen, and a stunning view of Cowichan Lake! :D

We expect 4-5 hours of work a day and will provide you with some vegetarian breakfast/lunch foods and an evening meal (cooked by us or the workawayers) on the days that you work. For days you have off you will be expected to manage your own meals.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

We live on the side of a mountain so there are some nice walks/hikes around; there's even a waterfall a short walk from our place. Further afield, there is an abundance of hiking, lakes, beaches, and attractions.

We have a hot tub to hang out in during our cool valley evenings and a swimming pool for the hot summer days.

We also have two very energetic dogs! Please only contact us if you are 100% comfortable with dogs as they will try to lick your face. Please mention the word JONI in your application. This is so we know you have read everything and you know what to expect! :)

To get around independently there is a local bus service that goes into the town of Lake Cowichan and many people hitchhike around here as well. Sometimes we drive into Duncan and could take you over to explore that area!
