Description
We are a local family based in Bissau centre, with a guesthouse/hostel where we also host community, cultural, and music concerts.
Upon entering our guesthouse, there is a bar area to relax and have a snack or cerveja while watching the locals go about their day. This is next to our small music shop which is well known in the community. A few steps up (promise it’s just a few!) you can find the reception, our offices, as well as the 6 bed dorm and the private rooms. We also have a spacious shared kitchen which adjoins a large shared space with several tables to eat and socialise at, as well as a tv section with a pool table. For those who need a quieter space to unwind or work, our separate workspace is equipped for productivity with more tables and free coffee/tea. Our large courtyard we use for concerts or music events / cultural activities such as kids footie, and camping.
We have full local staff who work in the reception, cleaning, maintenance, kitchen, and our garage. WorkAwayers will spend time with our staff, they speak Criolu, Portuguese, French, and some English, and we would love if you could help them practise any of these languages.
We have heard great things about WorkAway from our guests and travellers, which is why we decided to join. Our guesthouse is a popular spot for those traveling through West Africa overland, as there are not many other options for hostels in Bissau. Many people traveling overland visit us on their journey.
You can choose your 2 days off per week, we have full local staff so our volunteers will be contributing unique perspectives and help us with ideas and new concepts.
