Help a small self sufficiency community in Bozed, Romania

  Description

  13 years ago we moved as family to this place in a small village near Târgu Mureș in Romania. In the meantime we could buy and rent about 20 ha for cereals, pasture and a plantation of Aronia. We have a greenhouse with tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers, a big garden with vegetables, some animals of which we have eggs, meat and milk. So we make a lot by ourselves with our products: Bread, gem, cheese, yogurt, and more… Some of the products we also sell, mainly cereals, dried aronia and fresh tomatoes. We have three houses in this village, one of them we prepared to be a house for guests and community life. Here our visitors and volunteers can stay, and it may be a place for people in need to stay for a period of time with us…
  We have three children all of them born in Romania in the ages of 10, 13 and 16. We are Christians and our goal is to live in community with others, to be more and more self-sustainable, to share our faith with others but first of all to live it, making a positive difference.
  To our community belongs since two years another German family, mother and son, who live with us in this village and have similar convictions as we have. We eat daily together and help each other out.
  Our village is a quiet place, in a beautiful landscape, with many wild animals, such as bear, deer, fox, pheasant…
  We look forward to know new people and to share our life with you!

  Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

  We have good contact to the locals, living in many ways the same life as they do. We are going every week to the local market, where we sell the cereals and get in touch with many people. If you like, you can accompany us. Also during the week people come and buy from us cereals.
  We have a Romanian employee. You may also once work with him.
  As community we eat every day lunch together and you will be a part of it! Our community is German and Swiss and sometimes also Romanian...
  At our place you can learn more about the romanian country life, gardening and self-sufficiency, although we also are still learning a lot!
  Targu Mures, the closest city, offers you also some cultural experiences, like classical concerts, theater, nice historical buildings. You will also come in contact with hungarian culture because this part of Romania belonged to Austria-Hungary and many people are originally Hungarians still speaking this language.

  Help

  Since we started with a very low level of infrastructure and we have three buildings with courtyard to maintain, there is still a lot of work to do and we would be glad for some help in these areas: maintaining the houses and utility buildings as well as maintenance work in the courtyards. For renovation work we call and pay local professionals.
  You may also help in the daily tasks like caring for animals, gardening, in the household and self-sufficiency work.
  If you like you can voluntarily also help in the agriculture and the green house.
  As far as possible you will help in these areas where you have skills, talents or where you are interested to learn more and where you feel most comfortable.

  Accommodation

  You will stay in our guesthouse, which provides three guestrooms, one bathroom, a dry toilet, a large livingroom and a kitchen which is equipped with everything you need. There is central heating but also a wood stove. A washing machine is at your disposal.
  Lunch we eat together as community, the other meals you can prepare for yourselves in the guesthouse and we will provide what you need. Sometimes you may join us in the evening for meals if you like!
