Description
Hello! My name is Candace and together with my husband Chuck, we have a continually growing hobby farm/homestead here in beautiful Northern Alberta. Our youngest son, 16, still lives at home and our older children 18 & 22 live nearby. Our long term furry residents consist of our 3 milk cows, 3 dogs, a handful of cats and too many laying hens to count. We also raise meat birds and hogs seasonally (Spring to Fall) for personal use. Our days can look very different from one week to another, but one thing that is consistent is daily milking. I’m in the barn early morning and again each evening every day. And of course where there’s milk… there’s butter! And cheese, and sour cream, and yogurt and ice cream 😁 We strive to produce, grow and make from scratch as much as we can on our homestead! And although the dairy girls consume a great deal of time, other chores around the farm are tending to the other livestock, cleaning pens/coups, fencing, haying, butchering, gardening, canning/preserving. Dinners sometimes fall around our work schedule but there is never a shortage of wholesome home cooked meals! When time permits, we enjoy hunting, fishing, dancing, listening to music, playing cards and visiting with friends and family.
