    Description

Hello! We are a grass roots down to earth community in the hills of Leicester, NC just 15 minutes from Asheville. We are constantly hosting gatherings and developing our space to accommodate more community events. We have never charged for any of our events and do not have any plans to as we want to encourage as many people to participate as we can.

Join us for an interesting time full of "figuring things out" together and helping out on our projects! We have a unique property of about an acre and a quarter and it is nestled beautifully among the mountains and forests of western Nort Carolina. We sit across from a large creek and have yet another small creek that runs constantly through the backyard of our property. You're free to indulge the rich culture of the city of Asheville, full of alternative humans, every genre of music you could want, a plethora of world class breweries, and some of the best farmers markets. Or soak into the mountains and visit the local watering hole to meet the real folks of the mountains and take a cycling trip through the nearby hills, or walk up a dirt road in search of the search of the secret waterfall! Each month we host at least one event(typically a music showcase) to immerse you in the local community which is a hodgepodge of transplants and folks who grew up among the blue ridge mountains.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We're very unique individuals full of energy and different lifestyles, we can teach you about all sorts of stuff from how to make a beautiful latte, to how to move around a workshop without accidentally dismembering yourself :) All kidding aside, the project is a home to a collection of alternative and creative humans, each boasting their own unique skill and interests and a willingness to teach and learn. We have weavers, baristas, carpenters, sailors, farmers, meditators, musicians, and more. Many of our inhabitants are originally from the Asheville area so we offer a great taste of the rich mountains and all the lessons they've taught us over the years. We enjoy hosting because we are a lively community and see that the importance of new energies and new ideas helps symbiotically breed flow and creativity in our lives.

By participating in workaway we hope to build the network that we have and continue to grow and enrich our community and our lives. As a workawayer you will be invited to explore with us, attend events both here and at our sister communities. You're free to join us on our trips to volunteer at local food organizations as well as trips for fun joining the local community bike rides where there's always someone interesting to meet!
