    Description

Our Surf Camp is an Iconic location on the northern coast of Peru that has evolved over the last 15 years. We have transformed this former military base into an oceanfront sanctuary for surfers, nature lovers and explorers alike. With access to surf rental and classes, and a peaceful ambience for Yoga, this is a place to reconnect with nature and yourself 🌊

Here, I live with my husband Jhony and 4 children and Cesar, the coordinador of the volunteers. We are a sociable family that loves the simple life we live right next to the océan, baking desserts and sharing our lifestyle with volunteers from all over the world. My husband is a surfing instructor with his own school “Jhony surf school” 🏄🏻‍♀️ where we practice surf, wingfoil, kitesurf, windsurf and diving. I love baking desserts and I’ve been told that my banana bread is some of the worlds best 🍰

The idea for the Surfcamp started when Jhonny and I were looking for a chill place with good waves to practice ocean sports, where we could also grow our family and create a community. From there came the idea of our Surfcamp. We are a very basic hostel right in front of the ocean with a cafe, where we sell my desserts and drinks. Sometimes we do also organise little events, we're open to new ideas for events. Last time we did live music with a little joke competition. Speed dating could be fun too... We do rent surfboards and kayaks🏡🌞

Spending time here you'll see all the things you can explore and learn.
Lobitos is a surfers but also a fishing village. There is a fisherman who often takes people out to the sea and shows them how they fish and how you can prepare ceviche on a boat in the middle of the ocean. Also we have a friend who can take you fishing from the cliffs and who can make you discover all the life around the beach, when on the first sight you might think there is only rock and sand!
Also is Lobitos growing in terms of art and music. We get more and more artists coming here to do their art in these peaceful atmosphere and share with other artists in the cultural centre Kapchay. There are some musicians here who have a little studio and often organise concerts and events.
If you're into dancing, we're starting this new project here at the Surfcamp, we installed mirrors and are offering dancing classes. The goal is to have fun and also to learn our typical peruvian dances.
If you like being in nature all alone, we have wonderful beaches to go camp all alone and enjoy the wonderful night sky full of stars.
There are so many more activities to describe, i'll just listen then up: go kayaking, learn how to cook peruvian, go horse riding, rent a motorbike, go to the gym, there's a skatepark, get a massage, do yoga classes, manifacture your personalised surf poncho :-)

Registering new guests, general cleaning and maintenance as well as assistance with current projects. We need volunteers to keep the place clean, tidy and to contribute creatively to the development of our home! We’re always looking for new wall art, we have a lot of blank walls begging to be covered in art ;). We’re looking for artists, musicians to organize events and cultural nights in our beautiful seafront space. We often organize Dj sets, Music and painting, cinema nights. 🎸🎶🎨
Finally, we’re looking for people that speak good English to teach our kids and help them in homework from school, someone that is patient and can have fun with them. They’re nice and chill kids, they take a little bit to open up but once they do they will joke a lot with you :D especially our little one.

We are looking for people that are chill, sociable, careful with people and their environment and that stay out of trouble. We do not welcome drugs in any form, nor alcohol in excess. Over the years, we have established a history of safety and respect in our home, especially for women, and we want to keep it this way.
If you agree with our values, we would love to open our family doors for you. If not, please look somewhere else. If at some point of your stay we notice we’re in disagreement or have trouble with our shared living arrangement, we will kindly ask you to move out. Please understand we need to protect our family, guests, community and the people that put their trust in us.

In exchange for your help, we offer lodging in comfortable tents, bathrooms, showers, a large kitchen with various pans and utilities, a good wifi.

    What else ...

Lobitos is a small surfing town 20 minutes from the main city of Talara (6 soles trip, 12 round trip ), visitors here mostly go surfing but it is also a great spot for taking it easy and relaxing by the beach.
We find ourselves in the middle of the desert that characterizes the northern coast of Peru, somewhere that is especially affected by the global warming. It is a very dry ecosystem, and because of this we have to be very careful with our limited resources and use them consciously - for example, not spending too long in the shower, not leaving water open while washing the dishes, being generally mindful in our daily activities. Let’s make this hostel an eco-hostel! We are grateful for every suggestion to better ourselves. :)
