  Description

  Hello! We are Naïma (38 y. old) and Francesco (34 y. old), and we live on our homestead in the Salento countryside with our 5 lovely cats. We're located 10 min from the Adriatic sea and its beautiful rocky coast. Our place is secluded and silent, with starry skies and lush green, only 5 min drive from downtown Tricase.
  
  We grow our own vegetables, have chickens and are almost off-grid. We love to cook healthy meals and craft our own house and body products. We like to forage wild herbs and eat local and seasonal food.
  
  Workawayers would mostly help with gardening and light maintenance tasks. This would be a great occasion for them to live closer to nature, to learn growing their own food, DIY crafting and cooking from scratch.
  
  Our place is also ideal for people who seek a more simple and authentic way of life. We do not have a TV; we prefer to enjoy the crickets chirping and read a good book by the fireplace.

  Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

  We can teach you about natural gardening, preserving food, cooking, DIY crafts, animal care and light maintenance work. We wish to share our different way of life, more laid-back, simple and authentic.
  
  We are happy to share meals and stories together, organize movie nights, go to the sea and show you around. We love to learn about other people's culture, background and points of view. Hosting is all about building genuine human connexions and learn about yourself and life through the other's lenses.
  
  About 10 years ago, Naïma was a Workawayer herself. She spent a gap year in Italy volunteering on individuals and communities homesteads. She knew one day she would flip on the host side, since she always dreamed of having her own homestead. Francesco just loves to be around people. He's a natural entertainer, and very good at teaching the skills he's learning himself as he goes.

  Help

  We'd love some help on our homestead, including:
  - gardening (planting, mulching, watering, harvesting)
  - preserving food (drying, canning, freezing)
  - cooking (meal prep, baking)
  - animal care (feed the chickens, clean their coop)
  - cleaning (keep the living spaces clean and tidy)
  - yard help (raking leaves, trimming bushes)
  - light maintenance (painting, fixing)
  - improving our place with some interesting additions (build an earth oven, maybe?!)
  
  We're gonna do most of these tasks together, although sometimes Workawayers would have to work on their own. We'd love someone who has a good sense of initiative and helps in a natural and spontaneous way, once they get their way around.

  Accommodation

  You will have your own private room and bathroom. You will have access to Wi-Fi, your own desk and even a mini fridge.
  
  Three meals a day will be provided. Breakfast will be on a self-serve basis. You'll always find tea, coffee, bread, eggs, nuts and fruits. We will share lunch together. We can switch roles if you feel comfortable to cook, otherwise we will prepare the meal for you.
  
  Dinner will not always be shared, since we often skip this meal. But you will find basic staples to cook for yourself. Oh and, this is a vegetarian household. No meat here. :) Of course, you will enjoy fresh vegetables from our garden, wild herbs, foraged fruits, and home-made, healthy meals.

  What else ...

  You should be comfortable living in a remote location and enjoy some time by yourself. We do have a bike to go around and reach the nearest towns (about 10 min), but our place is not recommended if you constantly need to go out for a drink or whatever the city has to offer.
  
  It is ideal if you are looking for some alone time, to immerse yourself in silence and nature, take long walks, spend time reflecting, reading, journaling, and working on your own stuff.
  
  We also have our own occupations outside the homestead, so we will also spend time by ourselves. Even though we will happily have shared moments through the day, you should also be comfortable with your own company.
