    Description

    Howdy Y'all
Welcome to the Quinta - Home to Chad and the quintessential German Shorthair Pointer affectionately referred to as Yai. We live on 2 hectares with two dwellings (one which needs to be reconstructed) butted up against a modest mountain range that separates Marco de Canaveses and Baião. There are two plots where I grow my winter and summer crops that are in need of constant care; as well, an orchard that is being established. We are consistently trying to bring the land to a more harmonious existence with nature as there was a bit of untidiness before our arrival.

Roman Heritage with river-side beauty ~ Dramatic Douro & Tâmega landscapes ~ Authentic Rural Portugal (yet still close to civilization) ~ Nature, Viewpoints, and peaceful rural charm. A scenic gateway to the Douro Valley ~ wine culture & outdoor adventures. Gastronomy & Cultural Heritage

  • Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

It's a blend of shared work, shared stories, and shared rhythms ~ the kind of exchange that only happens when people live together, not just visit. Learn how I plant, harvest, cook, rest, and solve problems. Food is a Universal Language ~ the kitchen becomes a crossroads where we teach a dish from our respective country. You get exposed to new ideas, ways of thinking, and approaches to work and life.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

A rural retreat set in the hills near Marco de Canaveses, surround by forests, vineyards, and the quiet rhythm of northern Portugal. It's not a hotel and not a hostel ~ it's a home, shaped by the land and the people who pass through it. Mornings start with birds, not traffic ~ the air smells like pine, earth, and fresh wind. The landscape opens into rolling hills and distant mountains.

Shared Living Areas where volunteers and guests cook, talk, and unwind.

Private corners for anyone who needs quite time.

Outdoor spaces ~ terraces, garden areas, pool ~ perfect for sunsets or late-night conversations.

It's not luxury; it's real and that exactly why people love it. It's a place where people feel safe to be themselves, share their culture, and learn from mine.

There will always be food in the fridge to accommodate when you feel hungry. If you have specific dietary needs or restrictions; please communicate those and I will do my best to accommodate.
3 meals a day will be provided - Sometimes Hot ~ Sometimes Cold. You will not go Hungry on my Land.
