    Description

We are a family of four living on our dairy farm in the heart of County Kerry. We enjoy a quiet rural lifestyle and are lucky to be surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery in Ireland.

We have two dogs — Spotify, a Dalmatian (born 2018), and Jessie, a Golden Retriever (born 2025). They live indoors and have access to a large garden. We also have a cat, Lando, who treats the house like a hotel and comes and goes as she pleases, along with an outdoor cat, Thierry, who is very friendly and affectionate. We also feed a few stray cats who visit regularly.

We are located about one mile from Firies village, which has two shops, two pubs, a takeaway, and a church. Farranfore is a 5-minute drive away, where you will find additional shops, a pharmacy, a train station, and Kerry Airport.

Our location is very central, with easy access to Killarney and Tralee (15–20 minutes), and within an hour of Dingle, South Kerry, and the borders of Cork, Limerick, and Clare — making it a great base for exploring.

While there are local transport options, including the Local Link bus service from Firies village, guests should be comfortable being independent with transport or happy to enjoy a quieter rural setting.

  • Help

    Help

We are looking for someone from 6th to 31st of December 2026 (dates can be flexible), as we will be away from the 10th of December. We ask guests to arrive a few before we leave so the dogs can get to know you and to allow you time to settle in.

We have two dogs — Spotify (a Dalmatian) and Jessie (a Golden Retriever) — and a few cats. The dogs are indoor dogs with access to a large enclosed garden at the front of the house.

Help includes feeding the dogs and cats morning and evening, walking Jessie once or twice a day (weather dependent), and keeping the dogs company in the evenings.

Spotify is happy at home and doesn’t need to be walked, but she enjoys enrichment toys while Jessie is out, which we will provide.

As with any dogs, we just ask that doors and gates are kept closed so they stay safe.

The evening time is very relaxed — this simply involves being in the house with the dogs while you cook, eat, watch TV, or relax. You are very welcome to use the main house during this time, including the kitchen and living space.

There is good Wi-Fi available both in the main house and in the studio apartment.

    Accommodation

We offer a private, self-contained studio apartment (“The Old Dairy”), previously run as a highly rated Bnb. It is comfortable, well-maintained, and fully equipped for self-catering.

The studio is approx. 16m² and includes a kitchenette, bathroom (with shower), living space Wi-Fi & a TV. There is a loft-style bed accessed by fairly steep stairs, so guests need to be comfortable climbing these. A sofa bed is also available.

The accommodation is completely private (not shared), giving guests their own space to relax. A washing machine and dryer in the main house are also available for use.

This placement is best suited to one or two adults, as the accommodation is not suite able for children.

    What else ...

As we will be away, we would love to have someone reliable who’s comfortable looking after things and happy to commit to the full stay.

Smokers are welcome, but smoking is strictly outdoors only. A covered outdoor smoking area with seating is provided.

We are located in a rural area about 1 mile from Firies village. There are local amenities within walking distance, and a Local Link bus service runs through the village with several services daily to nearby towns.

A train station and Kerry Airport are approximately 3 miles away.

Guests should be comfortable being independent in terms of transport or happy to enjoy a quieter rural setting.

In your free time, there are plenty of opportunities to explore the local area, including Killarney and Tralee, as well as beaches, mountains, and scenic drives. As it is winter in Ireland, the weather can be changeable, so this would suit someone happy to enjoy a cosy, relaxed setting as well as getting out and about when it suits.
