    Description

We're a family of three (Leoni, Roman and our 1 year old son, Oskar), plus our dog, cat, 2 goats and many chickens.
We moved to Ireland to our new, old home in 2024. it's a true pioneering project, because our place has been abandoned for 20 years and needs a lot of love, work and commitment. We focus on renovating the old cottage at the moment, while living in it at the same time. We also have a vegetable garden and the animals to tend to.
So there's work at every corner of our place but we also try to slow down and just live life, enjoy meals together, go for walks, swim in one of the beautiful lakes around us, play with Oskar and in general just settle into this very simple way of life. It's beautiful to bring back life to a place that's been neglected for so long but it's also very hard. So we're finding a balance of working hard, softening, being playful, working through conflicts and progressing together while making mistakes and learning.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We think that a lot of young people nowadays are looking to create in nature and express themselves freely. This is what we came here for and you can be part of it and see what it means for you. Maybe it's less romantic than you thought or maybe it really motivates you to follow a similar path...
We're challenged everyday to work together as a family team and we think there's a lot of value to try and really do something meaningful together as a family/ community.
But we also want to share our experience and create a network of support, exchanging skills, simply sharing life with people who are open to that too.

We look for 1-2 people who are ready to be part of this special beginning, not afraid to get their hands dirty and don't have romantic ideas about living in the Irish countryside. Not that it's never romantic, but most of the time it's just pretty raw and real 😉.
There are a lot of simple projects on the land, like moving rocks, weeding, digging/ building garden beds etc etc. Caring for the animals is a daily task too.
There's also space and possibility to express yourself if you've ideas and want to get creative.
We work with natural lime-hemp plaster on the stone walls of our cottage, which might be interesting for you to see and learn about.

There will be one warm shared meal a day and the other two meals will be provided for but you've to prepare them yourself in the caravan.
It's all very experimental for us at this time of our life and it's good if you feel comfortable with being flexible, open and ready to adapt. This being said you'll have plenty of time to yourself too and will be able to express yourself (practically and philosophically😉).
For us the work away experience is a lot about creating community, sharing, exchanging and learning together. To be in this human experience together and feel that we're not all just isolated islands. That working and living together can be deeply meaningful.
We'd be happy for you to join us if you feel similar.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

This is a great lake area and has a lot of untouched nature. It's not very touristic here and we appreciate that. We live quite remotely but the next small town, Ballinamore, is 8kms from here. There are supermarkets, a theatre and some other small shops. If you come.here by bike there's a great opportunity to cycle along the river, hiking is possible too.
