Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
If you want to learn how to bake different sorts of bread, pies or cookies, making jams and preserves or more about growing fruit and vegetables there will be lots of opportunities. We will try to make sure you get opportunities to participate in things going on locally if we can- like the Slow Food Cycle. Going to the weekly farmers' markets is always fun, and there are lots of local hiking and mountain biking trails. Whistler is less than an hour's drive and there is always lots to do there.

Help
We own a small seasonal artisan bakery and a b'n'b. We're open from Easter to Thanksgiving. During the week we bake for a local Friday Farmers' Market and for weekend sales. On Saturday and Sunday we are open to the public serving brunch and lunch. We also bake for other local businesses and host a community Pizza Night once a month. We have a paid position from August-October. Your tasks will include:
-Preparing sandwiches in the morning for local clients
-Cleaning our Air BnB between guests
-helping out/serving in our busy bakery on weekends and pizza night
-harvesting produce from our garden
-light landscape maintenance (weeding, grass cutting etc.)
Accommodation is provided, and electricity and high speed internet is included. Ideally you will be able to stay with us for three months. A valid Work Permit or Working Holiday Visa is required.
From time to time, we can offer the use of a car or truck during your time off, if you are at least 25 and have a clean driving record. We can also offer the use of our bicycles and kayaks. Pay will be a minimum of $18 per hour, negotiable based on your experience.
The work can be physically demanding, so you need to be reasonably fit, be able to be on your feet for long periods of time and willing to work in the heat, but we also like to relax, cook a meal, go to the lake or sit around the fire pit on summer nights when we are not baking. We love where we live and look forward to sharing it with you. -

Accommodation
You will share our house with us, but have your own separate bathroom, bedroom and living space. The kitchen will be shared. We have high speed internet and a telephone landline but no mobile phone service. We will provide you with pantry staples, bread and other baked goods, and depending on the season, there is usually produce available from the garden. You may use the laundry facilities in our house.

What else ...
You should be aware that we are a half hour drive from the nearest town (Pemberton) and there is no public transport. We have no cell phone service but we do have good internet. A driver's license is required, as we often have errands or deliveries to do. We are non-smokers and due to the extreme fire risk in our area in the summer, we prefer you to be the same (that includes e-cigarettes). We regret we cannot accommodate dogs/cats due to our own dogs and chickens nearby. We can pick you up from Whistler and possibly from Vancouver depending on what day you arrive. Vancouver is approx. 2 1/2hrs drive away and Whistler is 50 minutes.

She is thoughtful, helpful and caring and was a great help to us. She is a very interesting person who has made some very bold life choices and I admire her willpower in following through with them. She was great company too. She is a very hard worker- sometimes it was hard to get her to stop! For someone that does not have … read more
I'm too blessed to meet n live with Wonder Woman n Superman at one time in the same roof for over a month. You know, Hong Kong people is famous of working long hours over the world already, but compare with them, we are far too inferior. Eileen works over 18-20 hours nonstop on baking days (except meals), … read more
