    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

If you want to learn how to bake different sorts of bread, pies or cookies, making jams and preserves or more about growing fruit and vegetables there will be lots of opportunities. We will try to make sure you get opportunities to participate in things going on locally if we can- like the Slow Food Cycle and the Lillooet Lake Rodeo, which are quite close. Going to the weekly farmers' markets is always fun, and there are lots of local hiking and mountain biking trails. Whistler is less than an hour's drive and there is always lots to do there.

We own a small seasonal artisan bakery and a bnb. We're open from Easter to Thanksgiving. During the week we bake for a local Friday Farmers' Market and for weekend sales. On Saturday and Sunday we are open to the public serving brunch and lunch. We also bake for other local businesses and host a community Pizza Night once a month. We have two paid positions and a cute, one bedroom cabin.

    Chef/cook
We require someone with experience as a chef or cook to take the lead in preparing our much-loved weekend brunches and monthly Community Pizza Nights — high energy, fast-paced, and hugely rewarding.
    What you’ll do:
    • Lead weekend brunch service in a small, busy kitchen
    • Prepare seasonal menus with produce from our garden, orchard & local farmers.
    • Collaborate with our baker and gardener.
    • Build your bread and sourdough skills alongside our bakery team.
You’ll need: Training and previous experience as a chef or kitchen lead.

    Front of House/ Barista
You’re the welcoming face of the bakery — part barista, part creative, part all-round hospitality legend.
    What you’ll do:
    • Craft great coffee and connect with locals and travellers.
    • Help promote events and bakery life on social media.
    • Assist with pastry, sweets and baked goods.
    • Be part of a small team where everyone gets stuck in
You’ll need: Previous experience in food prep and baking and as a barista, and an interest in baking.

Both jobs are paid positions, and would ideally suit a couple who could share the cabin. Accommodation is free, and electricity and high speed internet is included. You will typically work a 30hr week, with Mondays and Tuesdays free to explore the surrounding area. Ideally you will be able to stay with us for the whole season. A valid Work Permit or Working Holiday Visa is required.
From time to time, we can offer the use of a car or truck during your time off, if you are at least 25 and have a clean driving record. We can also offer the use of our bicycles and kayaks. Pay will be a minimum of $18 per hour, negotiable based on your experience.
The work can be physically demanding, so you need to be reasonably fit, be able to be on your feet for long periods of time and willing to work in the heat, but we also like to relax, cook a meal, go to the lake or sit around the fire pit on summer nights when we are not baking. We love where we live and look forward to sharing it with you.

    Accommodation

You will have your own recently renovated, self-contained cabin beside our house. It has an open plan living/kitchen area with a wood stove and adjacent bathroom, and a sleeping loft with double or twin beds accessed by a ladder. We have high speed internet and a telephone landline but no mobile phone service. We will provide you with pantry staples, bread and other baked goods, and depending on the season, there is usually produce available from the garden. You may use the laundry facilities in our house. We have enough work for two people, but only the one loft bedroom, so we could accommodate a couple, or friends who don't mind sharing.

    What else ...

You should be aware that we are a half hour drive from the nearest town (Pemberton) and there is no public transport. We have no cell phone service but we do have good internet. A driver's license is required, as we often have errands or deliveries to do. We are non-smokers and due to the extreme fire risk in our area in the summer, we prefer you to be the same (that includes e-cigarettes). We regret we cannot accommodate dogs/cats due to our own dogs and chickens nearby. We can pick you up from Whistler and possibly from Vancouver depending on what day you arrive. Vancouver is approx. 2 1/2hrs drive away and Whistler is 50 minutes.
