    Description

I have traveled and been a Work Awayer myself across different hosts globally, and am now an host myself and I am looking for assistance to complete projects on our farm. Our lovely rural property is the home to three horses, dogs, a few sheep, and Alpacas. We are perched on the top of a hill and have uninterrupted mountain views, clean air and very comfortable home, and just 1 hour from Melbourne.

We have previously hosted both workawayers from all over the world, many who we are still in contact with and have been to visit in their country. We value the friendships that have been forged and the enrichment that each has bought to our lives.

We are foodies and love cooking up yummy food when time permits. We have a quiet but busy life and would love some help with the property maintenance, domestic chores, and help with some various projects on the house and property to make it beautiful.

Ideally we prefer a workaway couple, or two travel companions. The help we require is of a private nature and does not relate to any business activities.

We live in the beautiful countryside of Gippsland, on the edge of the Forrest and bush land. There is beautiful hikes in the area, and we are 1 hour from the snow, the beach and the city. You can explore the local area independently or I can show you around. I love hiking and outdoor activities such as 4wding in the Forrest. We can eat some meals together and cook together. You will experience country living in a gorgeous setting.

I’m flexible with the arrangement. We can discuss how it will work, including the hours, days and setup of the hosting agreement.

The projects include; Gardening, cleaning, property maintenance, fencing, farm jobs, domestic chores, and a variety of other tasks. It’s flexible, and I’m happy to cater the tasks to what takes your interest. There is plenty of work, therefore plenty of variety in what you do. I’m looking for people that are able to work autonomously, however also be willing to work alongside me so we can complete certain tasks together. I have some projects I’d like to embark on, such as cleaning up the barn, and building some beautiful gardens.

The work will be mainly shared tasks and will vary most days. I’m also keen to tap into any one with professional photographic skills or digital marketing skills to help teach me.

If you have any other particular skills or interests let me know.

    Accommodation

We have large executive style home. With large living area and wood fire. If you are our only Workawayer, you’d be offered a private room in this house, share our living spaces and kitchen. Meals and food prep would be shared.

Another option is to stay in a self contained luxury caravan. The caravan has a dishwasher, shower, toilet, washing machine, dryer, a full kitchen with oven, microwave and coffee machine, a queen bed and 2 large tvs. As far as caravans go it’s massive! The caravan is in a private location on the property with a view and a fire pit. You can also spend some evenings in the house with us and we can eat some meals together and watch a movie or play board games. You will be self sufficient in terms of food and cooking. I will provide the food, however we can go shopping together so you can choose what you want. As I mentioned we can eat some meals together and occasionally go out for dinner to explore my favourite local pubs! The caravan has everything you need for cooking and sleeping.

    What else ...

We welcome you in to be part of our family. We love learning about your family and country. It’s hard to say what social activities will present, but we’d offer for you to join us to visit/host family and friends just like you are family, but of course the choice is yours. Externally there is not much happening socially as we are in a rural area, but we are only an hour from Melbourne by train and happy to drop you at the station and pick you up on days off.

Just by spending time together with us you’d learn of our travel adventures and exchange skills and talents and learn from each other.

There is currently snow on Mt Baw Baw which is one hour away, so that’s a great weekend activity. You can also explore the local area, such as rail trails and Forrest hikes. There are waterfalls nearby too. The area is rich is former food production, wine, dairy and beautiful scenery.
