  • Description

    Description

We live on a beautiful piece of land where we dedicate ourselves to maintaining the buildings, the property, and pursuing self-sufficiency. Our home is a historic 15th-century water mill, nestled beside a small river and surrounded by 14 acres of forest. You'll find a wood-fired sauna, a swimming spot, and much more to discover. Come and see for yourself! :-)

At the moment, we are 5 adults and 3 children living in several houses / apartments. Soon another family will join the community.

Our community consists of eight people, each bringing unique skills and experiences to the table. We moved into our home about four years ago, and we’d love for you to join us and help our project grow.

While our property is incredibly beautiful and the work is rewarding, maintaining it can be a challenge without enough helping hands. Transparency is key for us: unlike 'high-intensity' communities where everyone is around 24/7, most of us have regular jobs and individual lives.

What we share is our love for this place and the work we put into it. This means our community life is flexible—some weeks are filled with shared meals and activities, while others are very quiet as we focus on our own schedules or need personal downtime.

We actually see this as a benefit: We offer a space that is free from the pressure to be 'always on' or part of every social gathering. If you are someone who enjoys their own company, values independence, and likes to recharge in nature after work, you will fit right in. You are always welcome to join in when things are happening, but there is absolutely no obligation to be a 'social butterfly.'

In exchange for your help, we provide:

A cozy guest apartment or a beautiful spot by the forest for your van.

Full access to all amenities: electricity, water, toilet, shower, and high-speed internet.

    Food and a shared kitchen.

After finishing your agreed hours, your time is truly your own. Whether you want join in if something is happening or simply enjoy the peace of the forest by yourself, we appreciate and respect both.

  • Help

    Help

We are currently renovating one large building and could use some help with various tasks. And then there is a lot of outdoor tasks to be done:
    - Cutting, splitting and bringing firewood from the forest
    - Vegetable garden
    - Food preservation
    - Lawn mowing (ride-on)
    - Painting wooden windows
    - Construction / Clean-Up projects
    - House-hold chores
    ......
We are very flexible and will talk about what suits best: If you like to be a lot by yourself, that's fine, we'll find suitable tasks. Otherwise we'll do tasks together on the different projects.

We just grow veggies for our consumption : we do not sell anything.

    Accommodation

We have different options: There is a flat above our workshop. It's simple but cozy and you'll have your own space, kitchen and there is a bathroom downstairs in the workshop. Camping in a van or tent is also possible, the property offers a thousand and more beautiful spots.

Food: Our idea is, that you'll get any food you want for your own kitchen. Either you go shopping and we give you the money or you give us a list and we buy it. You usually prepare your own meals but we can plan common meals, whenever both sides are interested. This can be every day or once in a week.

    Can possibly accept pets

We made some negative experiences with pets in our guest apartment. For example lots of hairs after departure or friends that couldn't use it anymore due to allergies. This doesn't mean we don't accept pets to our guest apartment but we prefer them in camper vans or kindly ask to give the flat a very good clean-up before leaving ;)
