    Description

*** Due to being a public facility working with youth we require that you be double vaccinated against Covid-19 and be able to show proof. Thanks for understanding.

We are a busy family living on a small hobby farm in rural Nova Scotia. We are working towards using sustainable and permaculture based methods to feed our family and community and educate youth about where their food comes from. We are home to Kristin and Scott Ross and a collection of free range animals and children. (We have 4 children living at home ranging in ages from 8 to 14, 4 dogs, 2 barn cats, chickens, rabbits, sheep, cows, and honey bees).

We are also home to the a forest school (brand new in spring 2021), a non-profit nature based outdoor education centre for youth. We ran Nature Immersion Camps in summer 2021 and are currently offering year round programming for school aged children. We’re also working on developing our facility and are beginning to host a variety of school and community groups.

We love our home in rural Nova Scotia and look forward to sharing it with you. Come experience a full life on the farm, getting to know your hosts, relaxing on beautiful beaches, ski or snowshoe in the winter, enjoy many local adventures, museums, restaurants, festivals and local Maritime culture and hospitality.

While staying with us you may have the opportunity to learn about farming, gardening, cooking, preserving food, trail building, general maintenance, running a non-profit organization, working with children, maybe how to play an instrument, and practice your English language skills.

    Accommodation

We have two lovely private bedrooms available in our home. The bathroom is shared but only with one other person. We also can offer accommodation in a tiny camper close by the farm or the option to tent on the property if you prefer. There is a pristine outhouse available if you are camping.

A family dinner will be served each evening which you are encouraged to join us for. Breakfast and lunches will be prepared independently but food will be provided for you to help yourself to. If you enjoy cooking, preparing a meal occasionally would be a great way to help out.
