Description
We live on a small family hobby farm of 55 hectares (126 acres) in the beautiful Margaret River region that is famous for its wineries and pristine beaches. The farm is like a family commune, co-owned by 4 couples, all related. It is in a picturesque valley, surrounded by vineyards. . The property contains bushland, forest, paddocks, dams, creeks, a greenhouse and an orchard. We are trying to grow our own fruit and vegetables and our chickens produce eggs for us. (We do not grow food for others). We have some sheep, but they are very much pets :-)

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
You will be welcomed into our home and we will enjoy showing you around this beautiful region, including areas that you would not find by yourself. We have both travelled and worked overseas and enjoy meeting others. We are also nature lovers. Ulli loves long beach walks and will be happy to show you some awesome places to explore this coastline and meet some unique flora and fauna. Karen is a music teacher and involved in the community and happy to introduce you to local musicians.
Help
We would love help with planning, planting and maintaining a garden that features mostly native plants. Weeding will be a big part of this too. We also need help with a range of DIY projects around the farm such as maintaining fences for our pet sheep and old horses. Clearing fallen trees, and building animal shelters is ongoing but there is always time for some creative art projects.

We have a separate cosy cabin as your bedroom, but you will be sharing our kitchen and bathroom. We will eat most main meals together and you are also welcome to help yourself at anytime.
What else ...
We have some horses and are happy for you to be involved in their care if you are interested. The region is famous for surf beaches, caves, bush walks, art galleries and wineries. Margaret River town is 15 minutes away, as are several beaches. Ulli loves long beach walks and will be happy to show you some awesome spots to explore. Ulli also is a keen cyclist and we have spare bikes if you would like to explore the many trails in the area. There is a lot of nature to explore here.

We intended to stay two weeks, and stayed two months! If that doesn't tell you how amazing a place it is, then nothing will.
We did a range of tasks - gardening, helping fix netting in the orchard, harvesting macadamias, driving the tractor, organising the workshop… read more
