    Description

Welcome to our Farm – “Explore. Relax. Discover.”

Nestled in the Khomas Hochland mountains of central Namibia, halfway between Windhoek and the famous Sossusvlei dunes, is our working farm and eco-tourism destination where life moves with the rhythm of nature. We’ve built something special here — a place where adventure and tranquility meet, and where every sunrise feels like a fresh start.

Workawayers love it here because every day is different. You might help in our vegetable gardens, assist with guests at our farm-stall, lend a hand maintaining our eco-accommodation, or join in the development of our expanding cycling and hiking trail network that winds through the mountains and valleys around the farm. It’s a peaceful yet active environment, perfect for people who enjoy working outdoors and being part of something growing and authentic.

    About Us

We’re Frank and Sonica (or “Sonskyn,” as she’s affectionately known) — a couple who traded city life for a new adventure on the land. Together with our small local team, we manage the day-to-day running of the farm, the shop and café, and our range of guest accommodation, from mountain cabins to farmyard chalets and campsites.

Our local team members from the area bring heart and skill to everything they do — from maintenance and hospitality to gardening and livestock care. As a Workawayer, you’ll work alongside them and become part of our family-like rhythm on the farm.

    Why You’ll Love It Here

You’ll experience Namibia’s highlands at their best — wide open spaces, incredible night skies, and a community that values nature, creativity, and collaboration. You’ll gain hands-on experience in eco-tourism, sustainable farming, and trail development, all while living in a setting that encourages exploration and personal growth.

We love sharing this journey and can’t wait to welcome others who want to learn, contribute, and enjoy the adventure with us.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We love sharing the best of Namibian farm and outdoor life with our guests and volunteers. Workawayers become part of our daily rhythm — from farm work and trail projects to enjoying coffee or a sunset braai overlooking the mountains.

You’ll meet our small, friendly team and get to know the surrounding community, which is made up of farmers, craftspeople, and tourism partners from across the Khomas Hochland. There’s often time to join local get-togethers, markets, or cycling events on weekends.

We’re happy to share our knowledge about sustainable farming, water management, and building tourism experiences in a remote area. In return, we love learning from Workawayers — new ideas, languages, cooking styles, and creative approaches to nature-based living always inspire us.

Life here is about connection, learning, and discovery — the true Namibian way of “Ubuntu.”

    Help

Life is wonderfully varied, and we welcome Workawayers who enjoy hands-on work, nature, and a bit of adventure. Depending on your skills and interests, you may help with:

Trail Work & Outdoor Projects: Assist in maintaining and expanding our network of mountain biking and hiking trails — from clearing paths and setting up markers to building scenic viewpoints and rest spots.

Gardening & Farm Tasks: Help in our vegetable gardens, composting areas, and general upkeep around the farmyard. You may also lend a hand with small livestock chores or other sustainability projects.

Creative & DIY Projects: There’s always something being built or improved — painting, signage, landscaping, or upgrading guest spaces.

We work alongside our team every day, so you’ll never be left on your own without guidance. We love sharing ideas, teaching practical skills, and learning from your experiences too. Days are balanced — plenty of time for personal projects, rest, or exploring the trails and mountain views that make us special.

We enjoy language exchange- we’re happy to share Afrikaans with anyone interested in learning a few local words and phrases. We also speak English daily, and since we used to live in Spain, we’re always keen to practise our Spanish and improve our German. It’s a fun mix of cultures and conversations around the table!

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

Workawayers stay in comfortable, clean, and secure accommodation on the farm. Depending on the season and availability, you’ll either be hosted in a private guest room in the main farmhouse or in one of our Farmyard Chalets — both with access to a kitchen, bathroom, and outdoor relaxation areas.

We provide all bedding and essentials. Meals are usually shared together or self-catered, depending on the day’s schedule — we often cook together, and you’re welcome to join in or share your own favourite recipes.

Evenings are relaxed, with time to unwind by the fire or watch the stars over the mountains.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Life here is all about the outdoors. We encourage Workawayers to spend as much time as possible exploring — whether it’s hiking one of our marked trails, mountain biking through the highlands, or heading out for an early morning trail run. The views and quiet are unforgettable.

During time off, you can also relax with great coffee, visit nearby farmstalls and viewpoints like Spreetshoogte Pass, or simply enjoy the peace of the farm.

We live simply and close to nature, with respect for the land, animals, and each other. We value initiative, teamwork, and a positive attitude — and we love when people bring their own ideas and energy into our daily rhythm.
