Description
We are a family living by Annecy in the East part of France near Switzerland. We Stéphane and Sylvie have 2 sons, the eldest is a student and out of town, the youngest at home with us is 11.
We currently live in a semi-detached house, with the lake right on the other side of the road. We stay out of town and Annecy town center is approximately 2 kms away.

You will have the opportunity to share our daily life and events, as a member of our family. We had the chance to live abroad, and know one can be surprised by unexpected differences. We will be ready to help and explain whatever surprises you and make sure you feel at ease.
If you fancy the opportunity to learn some French we will be happy to help. I had the opportunity to teach French as a foreign language before.
There is a Yamaha keyboard at your disposal for training if you are piano player. Our son is in his fourth year learning cello.
You will be able to visit Annecy which has a lovely small old town, a castle, churches and all kind of monuments and sight seeing places, and of course restaurants, cosy cafés, libraries and shops.
Last but not least the scenery here is beautiful with the lake and the mountains around and outdoor sports lovers will really enjoy the environment. The lake is one of the cleanest mountain lakes. Depending on the season, activities like hiking, running, cycling, swimming in the lake, sailing, skiing ... are all very popular. Just waiting for you to choose what you like best.

Help
We are mainly looking for language exchange in English, especially for our 11 year old son, as he is learning English at school and would benefit from practicing in daily life. It would be nice if you like interacting with young people. You will need to be creative in teaching words while playing board games, chess, table tennis, talk about mangas, take him out to his activities ...
We will glad to have help with child and house organisation, some shopping and house cleaning ;
Some cooking would be also much appreciated to share meals and cooking routines (I believe we all appreciate trying diversity in tastes)
Also, if you are able to help with anything else like for example computer (Apple products) and internet (to extend wifi in the house), house maintenance, interior design and house furniture setting, gardening, please let us know as these skills can be useful to us.
Concerning interior design: since we moved house recently it would certainly be possible to plan and install some book shelves, storage places ... the house was previously only rented out for holidays, that's why it was not fully equipped for family living. Our plan is now to rent it out only during a few weeks in summer, while we are away (so it will not be during the time that you will stay with us). Concerning gardening, our garden is very small though, the lawn is only approximately 10m x 6m and there are hedges around.

We (parents) speak English and have spent some time in English speaking country Singapore, however our younger son is a beginner and we would be glad he can learn from you! I have already tought French to foreigners and will be happy to teach you if you are interested. I am also interested in any other language!

Our area is very pleasant to walk.
We can also lend you a bicycle, there are lots of cycling lanes and especially one much appreciated along the lake of Annecy.
Public transport is available by bus with a stop very close on the main road to connect to town and to the train station.
For airport connection you can check Geneva or Lyon, with connections to Annecy by bus or train.
