Where do i start? After reaching out to many people and still getting no answers all changed when i wrote Tara. I Was such a nice to suprise to have someone who is actually writing you back so Quick. What shall i say. It was the best start for my journey i could have ever wished for (3,5 weeks) . Normally its quite interesting when people say they

The time flew by and i can only recommed it to everybody to go to this family. About my work? It was like nothing. I drove the boys to school, teached Emma German (she is really good at it, but she is shy about it with absolutly no reason) and just helped with some really light chores. What you should need to know is that they have 4 cats with different personalitys and 2 dogs. What i need to mention there is that there is one cat and one dog who cant get enough of cuddels. So you see you will never walk alone in this house, cause you will be followed atleast from one pet. Hugh and Tara are really friendly and you can also joke around with them. With David and Ben you have a quite calm but sometimes active brother duo. Emma is a nice young girl (like i mentiond before littel bit shy) you have with Eva quite the opposite. Eva would like to be spun around all day and is always down to do smth (from drawing to go out to the Trampoline). What else is there to say? I did enjoy my stay there so much and wish them the best for the future.

I brought David (13) to school and activities and picked him up, so we spent quite a lot of time in the car together. It is really nice and easy talking to David. He has a great fantasy and humor and can even express it fluently in German. He is also up for some deep talk, has a very kind heart, and is always helpful.
Ben (11) is quite fluent in German as well. Once you are present, the boys even talk to each other in German. Like David, Ben is always up for a quiz game or ‚city, country, river‘. He is very ambitious, smart, and fun to argue and play with.
Emma (9) is very lovely, creative, and charming and always up to do some crafts or play darts or Quixx. Her German is better than she admits. She understands quite a lot but needs to be reminded to answer in German and believe in her skills.
Eva (6) is the family’s whirlwind. She always has a smile on her face and is bright and eager to play with and talk to you. I started doing some German sentences and counting to 20 with her. She is a quick learner but very shy about her skills.
I got to meet some of Tara’s and Hugh’s friends who all included me instantly. Tara’s parents are also very warm-hearted and always offered an open ear and a helping hand.
They all are very interested in you as a person, which made me feel very much at home.
They have two lovely Cockapoo dogs who are just as welcoming as the family and are usually (;)) well behaved. They also have four cats, three of which are very lovely and cuddly. Those cats even made me grow fond of them (I am not a cat person). I appreciated that Tara and Hugh trusted me with all their pets while they were out of town!
Youghal is just 10min down the road and has everything you need in a town. I got to spend some time there, reading about its history and walking along the beach while David was at soccer. For other short-distance trips, I got to use their car as well, which was really attentive of them! I recommend the Ardmore Cliff Walk, the Mahon Falls, and Lismore Castle Gardens as some lovely places nearby. On the weekends I had free time to travel but I was equally welcome to join their activities.
I couldn’t have asked for a better host family, they are the loveliest! I already miss them all – humans and pets! You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

I have had a wonderful time with the family. They are very open, friendly and will provide you with any information and help you need. The parents are absolutely lovely and spontaneous people, who will include you as much as you are comfortable.

I really enjoyed my stay and experiencing the many lovely things in the day of the family. I was also very impressed by the children's German skills and the cute animals. :)

The kids really enjoyed her and Malou was excellent at keeping them entertained through different activities, outdoors or baking or crafting etc . They always loved spending time with her.
Malou was also brilliant with all the animals and cared for them when we were on holidays. Even cooked special soup for one of our dogs that was feeling poorly.
Malou is a very loveable person and we became great friends. She is a very pleasant person that everybody just warmed to. On top of this she was excellent at her job and exceeded all our expectations in everyway.
We would always welcome Malou back. Our door will always be wide open for her as well as our hearts. I could not recommend Malou enough. She is a gem.

I got to spend 3 wonderful months with this lovely family. The second we met I felt welcome and soon got the feeling of being part of their family.
My duties were to spend some time with the kids and e.g. play games, craft or bake something and teaching them some German during these activities. But to be honest this „work“ didn’t really feel like
… read more work at all.
Tara and Hugh are very generous. I had my own lovely room and bathroom to enjoy some privacy but was also always welcome to join the family, watch love island 😄 or meet their friends and family. Tara and Hugh always made sure I felt good and had enough e.g. food.
Their house is located in a beautiful scenery. You can easily go for a walk without having to drive somewhere or take their e-bike (very handy!) to e.g. go to the beach or another lovely spot. They even offered me to use their car or to drop me off somewhere.
Their kitchen is the heart of the house. The fridge is always full of food and you can easily cook your own food.
The kids are great. David’s (12) and Ben’s (10) German is excellent. I was really surprised. We always spoke German and only sometimes switched to English in case a vocabulary was unclear. We even watched whole Harry Potter movies in German!😄 They are both so creative and will always come up with new fun games. The girls, Emma (8) and Eva (5) are always up for some fun time on the trampo, colour a picture or e.g. play a game.
Moreover, they do have cats, fish and two dogs. During my stay I got the chance to spend some time with their dogs‘ puppies.
I had plenty of free time. The kids are at school till 2/3pm so your main „working-hours“ will be in the afternoon. I always had the weekends off and time to explore lovely places and beaches. During the school holidays the times vary. The family always makes sure that you don’t do too much.
Would I recommend this family? Of course. With all my heart and soul I do.
I miss you all already but we’ll keep in touch and I’ll see you again in 4 weeks 😇 Thank you so so so much for everything!
Take care.

I really enjoyed spending time with the children and I miss them. You have your own bed and bathroom with wireless. They live near the beautiful town "Youghal" and there is a bus station where you can get a bus to Cork. It is just a 50 minutes drive away and from Cork, you can get everywhere! Tara or Hugh picked or dropped me at the bus station every time, which was fantastic. I´ve had enough free time in the mornings and in the evening to do whatever I wanted for example having breakfast in Youghal or just sleep a bit longer ;).At the weekends I had time to explore the rest of Ireland, for example, Galway, Killarney or Cork. So I had enough time to visit different cities. Tara also gave me much advises which cities she would recommend!
I would definitely choose Tara and her family as a host again and I wish I could stay a bit longer. I am very glad for the experiences I made in this month. All the best and thank you for the great time!!

My stay in this family has been absolutely amazing! They are very generous, kind, caring and always look after your well-being.
For the people interested i'll add a more detailed feedback:
They live in a giant house in the middle of beautiful landscapes. I had my own room with a dubble bed and and my own bathroom with a shower, which was great.

The kitchen was probably my favorite part of the house: it's huge and full of food. I was free to eat whatever and whenever I wanted. They were very generous and always bought the food I asked for and invited me multiple times to ordered pizza, fries etc.
I had a ton of free time! The three eldest children have school until 2 and 3 pm, so i was free to do whatever i wanted in the morning: go for a walk, have breakfast in Youghal or just sleep in. I also had the weekends off which is a great opportunity to visit the rest of Ireland: Dublin, Galway, Killarney etc.
I had hardly anything to do with the youngest kid, Eva. The mother, Tara, was almost always at home and took care of her. So really my job was to play with the three eldest kids after school for a couple of hours while speaking German. I had most of the evenings off as well, which was absolutely amazing too.
The German of the kids is great and we didn't have any communication problems. They have a great vocabulary, which surprises me especially with Emma, who is only 4 years old.
There are lots of lovely beaches in the area to go for a walk or have breakfast in a nice little café. The house is about 10 minutes by car from Youghal, the next town and therefore bus stop. Youghal is about 50 minutes from Cork by bus. Tara and Hugh always dropped me off and picked me up wherever and whenever I needed to, which was very kind of them. So there was always a way to visit the places I wanted. They always made everything possible!:smile::smile:
