***Due to covid-19 we can currently only welcome workawayers who have been in Ireland longer than 3 weeks. We do not have a separate building for workaways, our home is shared so it is not suitable for quarantine. We only host for one week or two, not longer.***
Hello, thank you for reading about us. We are a couple, and we have bought this lovely old house which we are restoring. The house is one hour on the train from Dublin, and the train station is a 5 minute walk from the house. You can also get the train to Galway from Clara Station, as well as to other towns.
We are vegan and so is our kitchen :-) If you must eat dairy or meat, you probably wouldn’t enjoy it here, unfortunately. We are environmentally friendly and our garden is completely organic. We have travelled a lot, and have lived in other countries. We are very open minded about other cultures. We can manage in German, French and Spanish. I taught English as a foreign language and can help you with that, too. There is a river in our garden, and if you like watching wildlife you might enjoy that. We have many boardgames and books that you are welcome to use while you are with us. Our broadband signal is strong and reliable.
The house is habitable but not luxurious.
We need help with creating an organic vegetable garden, digging, weeding, clearing paths, making bird houses and other assorted garden activities. Inside, we need help with painting, sanding and painting wood, cleaning, sewing and other things that might emerge. If you can cook nice vegan food, you are welcome to cook.
You would have your own room. We can accommodate two workaways.
We will respect your private space and time. You are welcome to join in with our household activities, meals and some leisure activity, but we also enjoy quiet time alone, especially in the evenings. You are expected to keep yourself and all areas of the house clean. Our lifestyle would suit somebody who likes to spend part of the day in group activity completing tasks and/or enjoying meals, etc., and part of the day entertaining themselves. This workaway would suit you if you are an independent person who likes general house and garden tasks, and quiet time alone with your own hobbies and interests.

Our house is on the main train line between Dublin (one hour) and Galway (2.5 hours). You can also take the train to smaller Irish towns. Clara is a rural location so if you want to experience Irish bogs sand countryside you might enjoy that here. There is a river in our garden and it is a good place for wildlife spotting. I taught English as a foreign language and can help you with that, too. I am also a yoga teacher and can teach you yoga, too. There are some pubs near the house. We have travelled a lot and have lived in different countries and enjoy cultural exchanges. We will do our best to make your stay worthwhile in this quiet, small town.
