Description
Please only message me if you have read my complete profile. I look after retired racehorses in Co. Monaghan. I currently have 4 mares.
The day starts off with an early morning feed. The horses are then turned out for the day. During the Winter there will be 2 more feeds during the day. The next horse job is a feed at 9pm before the horses are turned out again for the night. Occasionally if a horse is sick or has an injury it may be confined to it's stable so some mucking-out is required. From November/April the horses are stabled at night so mucking-out duties are required during this period.
If you are willing to help you will need to be experienced around horses as the horses are racehorses and they can be unpredictable and are very powerful. In return the horses give you lots of pleasure. I usually have a horse in full-time training so you will be able to visit the training facility and come to the races when it runs. I cannot however offer you horse riding on the farm as I don't ride the horses. I practice Natural Horsemanship techniques.
The farm is about 4.5 miles from the town of Carrickmacross which has a great bus service to Dublin. Whatever places you'd like to visit I will help you get there and any hobbies or pastimes you enjoy I will encourage.
At the moment I require somebody to help out with light duties around the farm. You will need to be reasonably fit to help out. A mature person who enjoys a quiet, peaceful environment may well be best suited. You will have plenty of free-time to do as you please so you will need to be able to entertain yourself! You will be also be required to do some house cleaning and in spring and summer help with some gardening.
Look forward to hearing from you.Types of help and learning opportunities

Please only apply for this position if you are competent and comfortable around horses. If you are afraid of horses then racehorses will not suit you. I don't smoke and unfortunately wouldn't want a smoker. The farm is in a quiet rural area so if you don't enjoy quiet then you won't like it here. I also keep a few sheep . Most sports and activities are accessible locally so there's plenty to keep you occupied.
If you decide to message me then please include the word “racehorse” or “racehorses” in your message so I’ll know you have read my profile. Also please send a personal message as I hate generic messages and please don't use a computer program to generate your initial message to me. I normally only plan ahead up to 2-3 months so please don't apply more than 3 months in advance as I won't be able to give you a definite answer at that stage.A little more information
