    Description

We are a family looking to welcome a person or couple to our small hobby beef farm. We are located in a beautiful part of the west of Ireland on the wild Atlantic Way. We have a beautiful garden and orchard and some forestry. We harvest the orchard for use in our home. The wood from the forestry is used to heat our home. The cattle are fed daily in Winter while indoors and are allowed graze once the weather improves in the Spring.

We are involved in an agri-environmental climate scheme on the farm. We are very enthusiastic about the environment t and sustainability. We hope to welcome an enthusiastic person/couple to their own self catered accommodation with views over the land. We also have accommodation in our home suitable for one person, a couple or two friends. We have 50 cattle, a pony, cats and a dog.

We really enjoy meeting new people and love to share a meal after a day working together on the farm. We will endeavour to ensure you have a great experience while staying on our farm. We believe that it is important for visitors to enjoy the local area and we would enjoy advising you on the local areas of beauty worth visiting.

This is feedback from a recent worker 😊 and I think it sums up life with us
“I particularly enjoyed the authenticity and history of the location and farm itself. There is a bit of everything here, cows, fields, forests, vegetable garden, and most importantly a wonderful family. They emphasized the importance of personal space while still being very hospitable and sharing meals the whole time. I even got to participate in some evening sporting events with Richard and his team! I was specifically brought in to help with some tree work: pruning overgrown limbs, removing fallen limbs, cutting logs, and splitting wood. I felt myself useful and the work to be rewarding. Half the time with Richard’s accompaniment, the other half left to work in solitude (both were quite enjoyable). I was encouraged to explore the area via bicycle on the weekend; this was a lovely way to see the surrounding towns and countryside. My most cherished memories from my 2 week stay are being in and around the lovely sights and atmosphere of the Irish countryside and spending evenings with the family. Claire and Richard both made wonderful meals and were sure to keep me well-fed.

    Help

Help is needed to chop wood to use in our home, feed cattle, and tend to a garden and orchard .We love to harvest the garden and orchard for our own use and we love to produce delicious apple tarts and crumbles to enjoy all year round.

We are flexible with periods of stay. Richard would guide and support with all tasks that need to be completed. He would also give you some experience in the field of geology.

We can provide a self contained unit to suit a person or two friends/couple. It looks over the land. It has a bathroom and kitchenette. Meals can be a mix of integrating with family for meals and also independently depending on family life and schedules. We provide all the food that is required during your stay. We understand the importance of eating a balanced diet and Claire loves to cook delicious food while Richard is the baker!

We also have a bedroom in our home with a bathroom for your own use. We have a living room for your use also. We love to bbq and use our outdoor pizza oven. We love gathering friends to enjoy food together. We live near the wild Atlantic Way. We love to swim in the local swimming spots. We have a 75km greenway for cycling nearby which we enjoy. Our kids all play team Sports so we are a very active family. We are located very well for trips around the Munster region.
