    Description

    Dear workawayers,
we would love to welcome you in our home!

We are a family of four - me, Katerina (30 years old), my husband, Tomas (34 years old), our son, Albert (3,5 years) and our little daughter, Beata (1,5 years).

We live in a place that has a special magic for me. A few years ago there used to be just the old living house with two barns, one stall, one shed with cellar and, a small pond and a huge garden with many old trees. As I was a child we used this property just as a weekend house. I always loved this place since this was a family thing - my great-great-grandparents bought it. Which means the connection was really deep and I truly wished to live here fully one day. And it happened... Some of the buildings are gone but we have built a new house just next to it and I am so grateful that I can call this place my home and I would like to share this energy with other people as well.

It is kind of a hamlet, which means there are just five houses around us. No direct neighbours. Our house is located about 1 km from the village, which enables us to be in touch with our friends. There is a bus connection from the adjacent town.

I used to be a Workawayer during my studies. I visited farms - two times Germany and one time Austria and all the experiences gave me a lot... I wished I have similar life one day like those people and moreover I have promised myself, one day I will offer the same hospitality and kindness I have recieved. And now it's the time! I just want to share the energy I feel here and empower more and more people to live sustainable life like us. I'd love to learn everything abour herbs, gardening, animals, sustainability, zero-waste and also self-development. Me and my husband seem like a good match since I love reading and bringing new information and he is the one who can make those things real. He is a really handy DIY guy.
Last year he built a hen house just by himself...
Our son visits two times a week forest kindergarten, which brings me more and more to the deep connection to nature and the great wisdom of it. I am also thinking about an alternative schooling or home-schooling for them. Let's see.

You can see we have a broad scale of hobbies and possibilities here, but not so much time since we have our two little children :-). It means every hand is more than welcomed here!

My biggest hobby is the greenhouse and the hens, Tomas is a passionate beekeeper and DIY guy (he plans to build huge raised garden beds this year). Last year we grew a lot of vegetables, so that we didn't have to buy anything during the season. It's a lot of work, but also a lot of fun! We also had our first honey. The self-sufficiency is our desired lifestyle.
We also love building community. That's why we love to prepare events for all people from the village (travellers' talks, Christmas sessions, Fasching).

We have twenty hens and one cock. We might have chickens this year, let's see! Two cats. Some fish in the pond. And hopefully new bees this year (since we lost them last year).

There are no main projects at this time (it could change very quickly :)). Your daily routine would be a bit different every day since it depends a lot on the children, the season, the weather and the mood... It's a lot about taking care about the hens, weeding, gardening, harvesting, preparing homemade meals (also jams, compotes...), helping around the house, cleaning, playing with the children, preparing the wood for winter, pruning the trees. You will be fully part of our family for the short time, which makes the experience for both sides deeper.

If you stay with us, you will be accomodated separately in the old house (if it is not too cold), which we renovated a little. It's a bit old-school, but it has its own bathroom and kitchen :-).

Last year we had two Workaway stays and it was so inspiring and encouraging! We would be happy to continue in that way.

Since I am at home with the children we can always plan something together.
There are also definitely some nice places all around to visit - beer city Pilsen (30 km), Prague (80 km), castle Kozel (20 km) and many others...

I speak English and German, Tomas both a little. We are eager to meet new people and learn about them and their culture and cuisine. We love new recipes! And we are also a coffee-lovers!

We would be really happy if you choose our family. If you are travelling with your partner or a friend, it's great!

If you have any questions, feel free to send us a message! :-)
We are looking forward to you!
