    Description

We are a Czech-Australian family of four (our children are 4 and 1), living in a small village near a beautiful historical town of Tábor. Our property has a direct access to a forest and nearby hiking trails. We live a slow life in rhytm with nature and its cycles. In spring we collect wild herbs, in summer we preserve fruit and in autumn we give more attention to our inner environment, ourselves and our house. We are a part of a community of families in Tábor and together we take care of our children and enjoy culture, nature and sport (mostly climbing).

We recently built a house of clay and straw on our property and our main project now is the garden. We also still have quite a few unfinished projects in the house and we are taking care of our tiny house which we used to live in.We have a few small community projects which we do locally in our village such as maintaining a forest walking path or organizing Solstice celebrations.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We are a part of a community of families and we organize trips and outings together. We have a few alternative cultural events throughout the year in Tábor and as a family we travel to alternative art and music festivals- you can ask us about our plans and decide to come along as part of your experience with us.

Kevin (the dad) is an experienced climber and you can join us on one of our climbing trips as well. Barbora (the mum) is a yoga teacher and you can join her during her personal practice.
As a family we enjoy arts, crafts, hiking, games and you are welcome to join in all activities 🙂

  • Help

    Help

We would like our guest to become a part of our family for a while and share the daily tasks of cooking, tending to the house or taking care of the children. It is also possible and very appreciated to join in the tasks around finishing the house which include basic carpentry and similar jobs- here is an opportunity to learn new skills! There is also a chance to join in on the garden planning and building, there is a great space for your creativity, experience or eagerness to learn - we are also learning this 🙂 It all depends on the interests of our guest, we are quite flexible. If I could choose, I would have you cook your favourite meals for all of us to enjoy together! 😃🥰

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

We have a tiny home available untill middle of summer 2026 and we also have a spare bedroom in the house.

We usually have a family breakfast together which all guests are welcome to join. Lunch is usually either cold (sandwich) or heated leftovers, grab-what-you-will style. For dinner we like to meet together if possible, if not we leave food for those who cannot join. We tend to have either warm lunch or dinner, most often it is dinner. Workaway guests are welcome to let us know if they have any dietary requirements we can plan the meals accordingly or get them ingredients to cook their own meal of they prefer provided the ingredients are commonly available and requests reasonable :) We shop approximately twice a week and it is a mix of local farmers market, occasionally supermarket and grocery delivery.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

There is limited public transport to Tábor from our village. It is possible to go by bike (we can lend you one) or you can use our second (tiny) car. Nearest shop is also a bike or car ride away.

We get up relatively early at around 7am and the house gets quiet after 7pm. This is not a rule but something to expect.

Kevin works from home and Barbora is on parental leave. The children currently do not attend any form of daycare.

We host our friends, babysit kids, visit and host our family, usually there is a fair bit of coming and going.

At the moment there is only one bathroom in the main house (the tiny house has its own of course) but we hope to change this soon and work on the second bathroom (maybe you will be part of this project?) 😄

Just so we know what to expect 🙂
