    Description

Looking for a ONE Workaway full time - to work in our kitchen (some experience is essential, please). We need someone from 1st April for at least 2 months 😀
    .......

We are a married couple who run a little community café in our local village hall. We are newly opened in 2022, and are looking for some help in the day-to-day workings of the café.

We live and work in a stunning part of Scotland, on the Isle of Skye. Staffin is in the Northern Trotternish peninsula, with incredible scenery and amazing hikes. We are surrounded by water, and our house is a 10minute walk from the shore. We are close to some fantastic walks, including the Quiraing and the Old Man of Storr.
On our doorstep there are loads of beautiful hikes to explore.

We are usually looking for 2 workawayers (friends or a couple who are happy to share a room!) to help with front of house cafe tasks, including waiting tables and ensuring our customers all have a fantastic visit to the cafe and the village.

We really need help from a pair of lovely folks who can offer different help to us - one to assist with front of house, and one to do kitchen work. If you are both good at both, even better!

We pay Scottish Living Wage of £11.00+ per hour, and tips are divided between all of our staff.

Previous to running the business, I ran a hostel on the island and have 5 years of experience with hosting workawayers. Since leaving my job to start my own business, I miss this social aspect of hosting and look forward to getting back to it.

During work hours, you are well fed! Outside of work, it's more straightforward for workawayers to organise their own food. We supply all the stuff you'd expect to find in a kitchen (equipment, crockery, spices, oil etc!).

It really helps having a car to get around Skye in general, but it's not impossible without. Let us know in your message if you'll be travelling by car or if you like cycling. We live 1 mile from the café so you'd always have the offer of a bike to get to/from shifts.

We can only accept workeawayers who have a valid visa for work in the UK - please don't get in touch unless you already have this!

We get LOADS of messages through Workaway, and although we appreciate every single one, it's not realistic for us to reply to every message. Please firstly read our whole profile, check our calendar and specify your exact dates of travel before messaging - there's way more chance of us getting back to you if you've done these things! If you don't mention your exact dates of availability, we will not be able to accommodate you.

Lecture over! Look forward to hearing from you.

We are Gaelic speakers (one moreso than the other!), who are from Skye and are really passionate about our island home.

We would love to welcome someone to our home and show them an authentic Skye experience, staying in a 100year old traditional croft house and show them the place we are proud to call home.

I am an artist and have a small printmaking press here which our workawayer would be more than welcome to experiment with if they are interested. Our beautiful surrounding area offers constant inspiration for creating art, so we would always encourage this if our workawayer is interested in art.

If you want a response to your message, please subject it 'Gull Café' and we'll know you've read up about us.
