We are looking for one lovely couple!

.......
We are a married couple who run a little community café in our local village hall. We opened our business in 2022, and as we enter our 4th season we are looking for some help in the day-to-day workings of the café
We live and work in a stunning part of Scotland, on the Isle of Skye. Staffin is in the Northern Trotternish peninsula, with incredible scenery and amazing hikes. We are surrounded by water, and our house is a 10minute walk from the shore. We are close to some fantastic walks, including the Quiraing and the Old Man of Storr.
On our doorstep there are loads of beautiful hikes to explore.
We are looking for multiple employees in couples where possible (friends or a couple who are happy to share a room!) to work front of house and in our kitchen. Please be specific with your experience.
We pay Scottish Living Wage of £12.00+ per hour, and tips are divided between all of our staff. Pay is made monthly.
As we recently had a baby, we won't be able to accommodate our Workawayers in our own house this season, but accommodation offered is all private rooms within walking distance of the café.
Previous to running the business, I ran a hostel on the island and have 5 years of experience with hosting workawayers. Since leaving my job to start my own business, I miss this social aspect of hosting and look forward to getting back to it.
During work hours, you are well fed! Outside of work, it's more straightforward for workawayers to organise their own food. We supply all the stuff you'd expect to find in a kitchen (equipment, crockery, spices, oil etc!).
We're currently looking for workawayers who can commit to staying for the whole season (end of March - end of November).
It really helps having a car to get around Skye in general, but it's not impossible without. Let us know in your message if you'll be travelling by car or if you like cycling. We live 1 mile from the café so you'd always have the offer of a bike to get to/from shifts.
We can only accept workawayers who have a valid visa for work in the UK - please don't get in touch unless you already have this!
We get LOADS of messages through Workaway, and although we appreciate every single one, it's not realistic for us to reply to every message. Please firstly read our whole profile, check our calendar and specify your exact dates of travel before messaging - there's way more chance of us getting back to you if you've done these things! If you don't mention your exact dates of availability, we will not be able to accommodate you.
Lecture over! Look forward to hearing from you.
If you want a response to your message, please subject it 'Stafainn Café' and we'll know you've read up about us.Types of help and learning opportunities

We are Gaelic speakers (one moreso than the other!), who are from Skye and are really passionate about our island home.
We would love to welcome someone to our home and show them an authentic Skye experience, the place we are proud to call home.
I am an artist and have a small printmaking press here which our workawayer would be more than welcome to experiment with if they are interested. Our beautiful surrounding area offers constant inspiration for creating art, so we would always encourage this if our workawayer is interested in art.Host offers payment in line with the minimum wage

From April-August last year, I stayed with Jackie, Al and Betty (their wonderful dog). They did everything to make sure I felt comfy, got to explore Skye and enjoy my hobbies as well as get stuck in at work - all while expecting their first baby. They… read more
She worked her socks off last Summer for us in our v busy little café on Skye. She worked solidly from April - end of October and is still helping us now, doing shifts in the Winter period. Sage & Oliver are incredible. Both together and individually, they are extremely hard-working, trustworthy and reliable. They worked with us in our busy café for 7 months and lived locally with a friend of ours. They were able to adapt to all challenges that working in an extremely busy place can throw up, and they… read more

August was a particularly crazy busy month at the cafe, so we got stuck in and it was great to become part of the team. The work was very varied, between the kitchen (washing up and kitchen prep) and front of house. Both… read more
