    Description

    Dear Workawayer,

We are a warm, friendly Greek family of five living in the beautiful city of Volos, in Thessaly, Greece. Our family includes three children — two teenage girls aged 18 and 17, and our youngest daughter who is 2 years old. We also share our home with a sweet cat and a friendly dog!

We are currently looking for a female Workawayer who speaks both German and French as native languages, and would love to share her language and culture with us. Our goal is to create an immersive experience where:

My teenage daughters can learn and practice French through daily conversation and activities.

I (the mother) can improve my German and also start learning French.

Most importantly, we want our youngest daughter to be exposed to both languages from an early age, since we are considering moving to Switzerland in the future, and this early exposure would be very valuable for her development.

The majority of your time with us will be focused on language practice through play, conversation, and interaction with the children, especially the little one.

We live in a spacious private house in the center of Volos, within walking distance from the main market, cozy cafés, and restaurants. The city lies by the sea, so you can easily enjoy a swim or a walk by the water during your free time. Just outside the city, you'll find Mount Pelion, one of Greece's most beautiful natural areas — full of traditional villages, scenic trails, and amazing landscapes — perfect for hiking and weekend exploring. Buses to Pelion take about 30 minutes.

Our home has extra guest rooms and three separate bathrooms, so you'll have your own comfortable space and privacy.

We are looking for someone kind, respectful, and enthusiastic about sharing languages and culture. We are excited to welcome you into our family life, share our traditions, Greek cuisine, and help you discover the beauty of Volos and Greece.

We would love to hear from you and get to know more about you!

    Warm regards,
    Olga, Kostas, Martha, Vasilis, Ioanna

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

As a guest in our home, you will experience real everyday life in a Greek family. We love sharing our language, traditions, and homemade food, and we’re happy to teach you Greek words and phrases, show you how we prepare our meals, and introduce you to family life in Greece.

You’ll have the chance to explore the vibrant city of Volos, join us in family dinners, local walks, or visits to nearby villages. We often travel to other cities such as Thessaloniki, Karditsa, and Chalkida (near Athens) — and you’re welcome to join us if you'd like to see more of Greece and experience different parts of the country with us!

If you're interested, we can guide you through Greek customs, holidays, and maybe even take you on a trip to Mount Pelion or a nearby beach.

At the same time, we are eager to learn from you — especially your German and French language, but also your culture, traditions, and anything you’d like to share from your country. This exchange is especially important for our children, who are curious and open to learning through natural interaction.

We believe in mutual respect, open communication, and a warm, relaxed environment where everyone can grow, learn, and enjoy the time together.
