    Description

I am a Canadian Indigenous Elder from Vancouver Island, British Colombia. I am a Trauma Counselor and run a small private practice out of my home in Westbank, BC. I live 5 minute walk to the Okanagan Lake where the Spring and Summer brings many people to utilize this Vacation destiny. I have knowledge of various Plant medicines and work creating Salves and teas that help with many different holistic healings. I attend Sweat lodge ceremonies' and 1 time per year attend Pot-latch Ceremonies in my home community on Vancouver Island. I love to garden and do indigenous crafts and I am willing to pass on any knowledge I have gained over my lifetime.
I own my own mobile home in a mobile home park and have renovated the kitchen, bathroom, and most of the living space for the past 2 years. I have done quit a lot of landscaping (mostly on my own) but I challenge with a few minor physical disabilities that make my goals for my house and yard work a lot slower then I would like. I like to grown my own vegetables, herbs and berries and dry, can and freeze my own homegrown produce and seasonal plants that grow in this area. I have 2 grandchildren that are 2 and 5 years old and a cat that is just turning a year old. My grandchildren stay at my home occasionally but they only live a 4 minute drive from me, so I would be babysitting at there home when I do have a home stay member staying here. I have 2 bedroom inside the mobile but I have a big addition that includes a porch, pantry area and spare room off the sundeck. On occasion I visit my husband whom lives a 3 hour drive from me and I also love going camping in the summer. I have a spare fridge in my pantry area that can be utilized in the summer when produce is in abundance.

Sweat-lodge ceremony on Sundays 1 x per month. Local indigenous Band, Westbank First Nations invites community member to attend Pow Wow traditional ceremonies' during spring, summer and fall. They also have free yoga and weekly workshops that teach about beading land-based foraging on the land. I can keep you up-dated with there weekly calender of events. The local Friendship center and local Band office has drumming and singing weekly events. There is many opportunities for attending free music in the park events in Westbank, Kelowna and surrounding areas. There is many opportunities to participate on wine tours since I live near many wineries on Boucherie Road in Westbank. There is a lot of summer activities and beaches nearby to relax in the sunshine. These events I sometime go to but the workaway person would be responsible to attend them on there own.
I have 2 bicycle's and the walking and cycling paths are a 2 minute walk from where I live. There is a nearby mountain that has a excellent hiking trail called Mount Boucherie. I have a tent and camping equipment and it can be utilized to do some camping on your free time.
since I am a trained Somatic Experiencing Counselor I would be free 1 night per week to teach more about Trauma Therapy coming from a land-based indigenous Counselor. I can teach techniques about how to regulate the nervous system.

I would have out-door work from 10 am to 3 pm pm and I need help with gardening, weeding and harvesting food on the land and out of the garden. I need you to do the outside work on the days I am doing my Therapy sessions ( 2 days per week) I could use help with inside duties on the other 3 days I am not working with clients but I will be in and out driving grandchildren to daycare and possibly staying at there home a few minutes away on days there parents work. These days vary and it could be on weekends I am not always home during the night. I also go visit my husband on some weekends and therefore I would need pet sitting of a cat. So just giving the cat food and fresh water and cleaning out litter daily. This only takes 10 minutes out of the day.
Inside work may include: painting trim on doors and walls, light house work, organizing kitchen cupboards and pantry and some meal prep. I plan on taking out the flooring in my porch area and replacing it. I can hire someone who knows how to replace the flooring but it you have experience that is a bonus. I need help with spring cleaning such as windows and siding.

They can explore local beaches close by. I have a small car that i can lend with notice to book it in advance. The buses are 3 minute walk from my home and seem very reliable. Kelowna has e-bike pick and drop off all over the city. I am not sure how this program works. I like quiet time but I also love to communicate. I love to listen to music and watch good movies. I go out dancing on occasion and would love company to join me anytime. I love to pray and meditate daily but I am not religious. I do not drink or smoke and prefer that this is not something my workaway will do in the home. I love to go for daily walks and I always enjoy a walking partner if you want to join me.
