Description
We are Rachel and Simon, living in the magnificent Otways of south-west Victoria where we are surrounded by spectacular forests and wild coastline. We are located approx 45km from Apollo Bay to the east and 45km from the world famous 12 Apostles to the west. Together, we are tending to 17acres of land; growing food, and eliminating noxious weeds to support the native forest gullies to thrive. Rachel is exploring the fine arts of growing and preserving foods, and ecospiritual connection. Simon is a movement therapist and DJ so we occasionally host movement classes, workshops, and retreats.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
There's heaps of excellent hiking, swimming, surfing, and nature opportunities so this is a great location if you love the outdoors. The community is very small right where we live, with one shop and one pub/restaurant, both just up the road ,where local folks hang out. That said, people are really friendly and welcoming of visitors to the community. There's also larger towns nearby (eg Apollo Bay, Port Campbell) with more social and recreational opportunities. We are pretty relaxed people. We love the wild parts of the Otways, we're into music and dancing, throwing the frisbee, and watching films. We will look forward to sharing a communal meal with you each day, and the occasional indoor/outdoor game or hike in a local area. We also value our downtime, both individually and as a couple.

Help
We're looking for Workawayers to assist with various outdoor tasks, changing with the seasons. Some big ongoing jobs we'd love help with are removal of fences, manual removal of blackberry (we don't use any poisons), and weeding and feeding garden beds and fruit trees. There's also occasional maintenance tasks that you might want to get involved with. Nothing that requires specialist skills, just a willingness to contribute and enthusiasm to work outdoors. We're open to hosting Workawayers who want to share skills and work together, and also those who might prefer to take on a task to complete independently.

Accommodation
There's a few separate dwellings on the property so you will be living separately from us. You will have a private bedroom and access to bathroom, shower, and kitchen facilities. Depending on what else is going on, who is visiting, and how many Workaways are staying, you might be sharing the living space with others, or on your own. We love to share a communal meal each day, which we will provide. We eat a plant based diet of lots of vegetables and the the kitchen is stocked with wholefood staples (grains, cereals, legumes, tea, coffee, etc) for you to share.

What else ...
There's heaps of outdoor fun to be had in the area, although you will need a car to get to most places. If you don't have your own transport, we will figure out ways to support you to get around. We're pretty relaxed, open minded, and caring people who value honest and clear communication. We absolutely love living here and are keen to share the joy of it with others.
