 - Description- We are a family living in a beachfront home on beautiful Macleay Island. Katie (a Veterinarian) & Dave (an Engineer) are both home trying to get our house renovated and our garden fixed up after being overseas for a year living in Fiji. We have 2 small children who are lots of fun and love meeting new people. Delilah is nearly 3 and Freddie is 1. We have a very friendly Bluey Dog and a crazy cat who love playing together. We have both travelled to many different places and love meeting new people. We would love someone to come and live with us and join in our everyday activities. We love looking out over the water to Stradbroke Island and being so close to the beach for walking, swimming, kayaking, bird watching and the sunrises are magnificent on Macleay Island.

 - Cultural exchange and learning opportunities- We have some family on neighbouring islands and some on the mainland as well who we routinely catch up with. Macleay Island is a small, friendly community that often hosts community events and has live music every weekend. We sometimes take our kids to community playgroups so that they can interact with other children. There is an active art centre and gallery on Macleay Island too. We are looking forward to learning about different countries and cultures and gaining insights for our next travel adventures as well.
 - Projects involving children- This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
 - Help- Dave works in engineering so he is working out the building side of our house renovations and Katie is a Veterinarian by trade who now spends her days caring for Delilah & Freddie. We would love some general help around the house and garden that includes some time interacting with our children. Anyone who loves kids and animals will love our place and if you have any building skills then that would be a bonus. If you like cooking you are welcome to make some meals too.
 - Languages- Languages spoken
English: Fluent- This host offers a language exchange
We can only speak English at the moment and are more than happy to help anyone who would like to practice their English language skills.
 - Accommodation- You will be living in the house with us in a bedroom that has a Queen sized bed and sharing the bathroom and laundry with us. We eat 3 meals a day at the dining table as a family. We are healthy eaters who cook / prepare our food every day and would look forward to you joining us for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
 - What else ...- Our dog and cat live in the house with us and they love being involved in everything we do. Being a Vet I can guarantee that they are clean & healthy. Ours is not a quiet house (with 2 kids playing) but it is a fun house full of love and laughter. We are non drinkers and non smokers . We are more than happy to drive you to the ferry (& collect you) if you want to do day trips or weekends away to Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast or some of the other islands. We go to the mainland at lest fortnightly and would be welcome to come along.

 - My animals / pets- Tiko (1 year) - Tiko came back from Fiji with us so is actually called an Exotic Shorthair Cat. We adopted her after she was found at 3 weeks old wandering along a dirt road in the middle of nowhere. Tiko’s best friend is Snippy dog and they love playing together. She is a very funny indoor cat who gets up to all sorts of mischief during the day and then turns into a smoocher at night. - Snippy (7 years) - Snippy is a Blue Heeler Cattle Dog who is extremely friendly and loves people. She has good manners and does not jump up on people. She loves pats, cuddles and throwing a stick or ball for her. Her best friend is our cat Tiko & they play a lot together. She is great with our kids and lots of fun.
