Description
Experience what it's like to transition from modern day living to a more natural way of life, combining the best of both worlds. Hi. I’m Paolo, I recently bought this homestead in Moricgat, in the Hungarian countryside. My main goal is to build a permaculture farm and retreat based on self-sustainability and regenerative farming practices. Additionally, to create a place where others can come to work, learn, relax, play, heal and connect with nature and others.
I live with my young border collie, Jupiter on 2 acres of land. While he is very smart, I still haven’t been able to teach him to water my plants or hammer a nail yet. So any additional help on the homestead from workawayers would be greatly appreciated. And in return, I try to offer as comfortable accommodation and enjoyable experience as I possibly can, with a balance between country-living and modern facilities.
Most of the help is usually organic gardening/farming (plants only) and general maintenance. However, there are also some interesting building and repair projects from time to time.
Biodiversity is very important to me, so you can expect to find and learn about many different flowers, fruits, vegetables, bushes, trees and other flora and fauna here. Essentially we’re creating a mini-ecosystem on the farm with as much biodiversity that is naturally possible and sustainable. With the goal of providing our own natural food, medicine and supplements.
About Me: I’m an ex-IT professional and freelancer that left the system to pursue a more natural way of life. I place a huge value on health, truth, freedom, nature, an open-mind, community and life. My hobbies and passions include photography, djing, films, fitness, psychology, philosophy, research and learning, and spirituality. I especially love a juicy conspiracy theory. I am an English speaking expat from Cape Town, South Africa, currently learning and practicing Hungarian and German. I also speak Border Collie.
In my free time I enjoy watching Japanese game shows and programs.Types of help and learning opportunities

(NESTA certified for lifestyle and weight-management)
- holistic and natural health
- plant-based living and cooking
- sustainable and regenerative farming
- digital nomad lifestyle and freelancing
- DJing
- prepping, survival and food preservation methods
- photography, SEO and social media marketing
- psychology, spirituality and natural healing
- language exchange and practice (English, Afrikaans, Hungarian, German, Dutch)
On the farm and nearby there are also plenty of activities to help keep you healthy and relax, including:
- Sauna ans Jacuzzi

While fairly inexperienced in DIY and construction, I am highly interested and motivated in these skills, and am happy to learn from others with more experience, as well as teach those with less. The tool shed and workshop is well stocked to tackle most tasks.Help
The majority of the help needed will be for gardening and farming / maintenance (planting, watering, maintenance, harvesting and preservation, cleanup etc).
My dog Jupiter can play for hours, so if you like playing with dogs and walking/hiking, then you’ll be his new best friend.
You can also help out with cooking, if you like. This is a plant-based homestead, so new creative ways of cooking are always appreciated. I can also teach and usually have a wide variety of plant-based meat alternatives in the pantry.
From time to time there will also be some other interesting projects, for example:
- Raised beds and garden beds construction
- Building a wood-fired hot tub
- Building a stone fire pit
- Create a food forest
- Painting and wood restoration
- Dog Care
- Greenhouse construction
- Natural health products and tinctures
- Swimming pool setup/construction
- Tiny house / guest house constructionLanguages
