Hi there,
I’m Dominika, originally from Hungary, but I’ve been living abroad for the last 8 years.
It’s been 3 years since I left my job as a manager in the UK to embark on a journey of discovering different ways of living and developing skills that can’t be found in a school curriculum. Along the way, I’ve had the privilege of working and connecting with wonderful people. I’m truly grateful for these experiences, as they’ve shifted my perspective on what life can be.
I graduated as a catering manager and spent over a decade in the hospitality industry, climbing the ladder only to realise that the conventional lifestyle many follow no longer resonated with me. During my 6 years in a multicultural city, I met people from all over the world, learning about their cultures and lifestyles. This opened my eyes and sparked my desire to travel and experience different ways of living firsthand.
I worked for large international franchises, and having insight into how they operate, combined with a car accident I had at the time, made me question many things about life and the society we live in. I realised the importance of developing new skills, especially learning how to grow my own food.
That led me to Ireland, where I spent a year in an eco-village, working on a farm that provided fresh organic produce to the local community. This opportunity allowed me to gain hands-on experience in organic vegetable farming and understand how an eco-village operates. It was a transformative year, as I learned about all aspects of growing through the seasons as well as how to live in a community.
Since then, I’ve continued my volunteering journey in Portugal and Wales, applying and expanding the skills I gained in Ireland.
For the past 10 months, I’ve been back in the UK, working as an assistant grower on a community farm focused on organic vegetables.
Now, I’m preparing to fulfill a long-time dream of traveling around South America. I want to immerse myself in a new culture and language, and gain more knowledge from different eco initiatives. I’m eager to discover new places where I can contribute my skills and support local projects.
I’m mainly interested in organic farming, permaculture, natural building, and of course, getting to know the people behind them. I consider myself a fast learner, open-minded, hardworking, and adaptable to new environments. While I enjoy social interactions, I also appreciate spending time alone.Interests

More details about your skills
After spending over a decade in the hospitality sector, I have an array of skills related to that from customer service through business management to cooking.
I've worked as a chef as well and cooking is a passion of mine. Apart from just the taste, I find it important to create dishes that are also healthy. I have the skills to create nutritionally complete meals.
After 2 years working at a community farm growing organic vegetables, I developed many skills related to growing, like sowing seeds, propagation of plants, transplanting, preparing beds, harvesting, using tools and machinery, seed saving, using and drying herbs, preserving food and crop planning.
I’ve also done some renovations on our family home in Hungary, plastering, painting, etc.
I have been fixing my own bike, so I can do basic bicycle maintenance.
I have grown mushrooms from spores, so I'm able to teach you about mushroom cultivation.Age

What else ...
I love cycling and going on long walks, one of my favorite things to do is to just go without a destination in mind and discover new places by getting lost.
Fortunately, I’ve always managed to find my way back.
I practice yoga, combining movement with breath is so simple yet reaps great benefits.
I don’t watch TV, but I get inspired by people on YouTube. It got me interested in video creation I'd like to learn about videography.
I like to discover new music in all different genres. Some more information
