    Description

Since 2007, our family has been renovating a beautiful historic courtyard in Gunsleben, Germany, with several buildings: a gentleman’s farm (1840) and a charming monumental farmhouse (1734). We are a close family, and you’ll mostly meet my retired parents, Loes and Brand. My mother is a warm host and great cook, and my father is handy and always busy with projects.

The property sits in a quiet village of about 300 people, surrounded by two hectares of landscaped gardens with walnut, apple, and plum trees. There’s always something to do — from gardening, pruning, and mowing to maintenance inside the house. We welcome both skilled helpers and those eager to learn, as long as you’re open to instructions and willing to contribute positively.

You’ll have access to all amenities in the main building — bathrooms, kitchens, sleeping areas, and common rooms — and be part of our friendly, welcoming atmosphere. In return for your help, you can enjoy the peace, space, and the unique experience of living in a historic home where time seems to stand still.

The house is situated near the Harz. There are multiple bikes available and also some lost moped and an off-road motorcycle that, with a little love, are suitable for exploring the area. The village is located near locations as Oschersleben and Magdenburg. From there Berlin is two hours away. Picking up and bringing to central public transport locations is no problem.

We are a dutch family that bought a house in Germany. The area is so peaceful and quiet. My father is handy and speaks german and english. My mother is very hospitable and speaks a little german and english.

Our family is a warm family and you will feel at home for sure.

We would like to find people who like to work outside and inside to upgrade the farm house of 1734. But also the garden needs always a friendly eye that see the work that can be done. In the main building all the amenities are available such as multiple bathrooms, toilets and kitchen areas. Just like sleeping areas and common areas for games. The residents of the main building are friendly and helpful and appreciate a helping hand in the daily care of the house and household. Think of chopping wood, gardening and communal cooking and eating.

The only mindset we ask is that you are open to instructions and willing to spend the time agreed to help positively. In return you can share in our spatial wealth and gain an experience.
